Democrats’ Hypocritical Leadership

[….] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) praised the occupiers for an “impressive show of democracy in action” and tweeted as they assaulted the Capitol that she continued “to stand in solidarity” with the union activists. In other words, Democrats were for occupying capitols before they were against it.

So reported Marc A. Thiessen at The Washington Post, comparing Democrats’ condemnation of the US capitol riot to their praise of the Wisconsin capitol riot.

If you believed for a moment that Biden’s inaugural call for “unity” was a genuine olive branch, then you have not been paying attention.

Biden did not condemn the rampant riots around the country for three months. Federal officers were regularly attacked and injured while defending federal buildings from invasion and arson. Hundreds of businesses were robbed, vandalized, or completely destroyed.

Even the District of Columbia was on fire, yet Democrats were not so concerned about violence as they now pretend.

Christopher Bedford at The Federalist reminds us:

When President Donald Trump ordered Guardsmen into the capital following nights of Black Lives Matter-inspired rioting, Maryland Sen. Chris van Hollen called it “an affront to our Constitution.” D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser “formally requested” they be withdrawn, and made them move to new rooms and hotels, declaring that the city would not “pay their hotel bills.”

Continuing the troop-bashing, in July Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi compared the federal officers defending the Portland Federal Courthouse against weeks of nightly Antifa rioting (with 140 officers injured throughout the siege) to Nazi “stormtroopers.” And on and on and on.

Democrat legislators rejected a resolution to collectively condemn political violence in July. Dozens of Americans had already been murdered by that time, while many more were abused and terrorized.

Democrats accuse Trump of incitement but have themselves often relied on more directly inflammatory rhetoric.

When Senator Rand Paul was hounded by a mob on DC streets, where was such concern by Democrats?

Meanwhile, future Vice President Kamala Harris raised bail money for violent thugs and left-leaning corporations raised millions for the explicitly Marxist organization Black Lives Matter. Left-wing media protected and supported the 2020 riots at every turn.

Did Democrats complain when Senator Josh Hawley or Senator Mitch McConnell were harassed by angry crowds at their homes?

Well, there was that one time Pelosi and Schumer objected to harassment of Sarah Sanders at a restaurant.

Draw your own conclusions. Thanks to Tigerlily for links and reminders.

The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing. Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either, or if they try, they will shortly be out of office. —Milton Friedman

And now, after screaming about racist cops for most of a year, they are now singing paeans to law enforcement.

It must have occurred to them that you can’t have a police state without police.

And it’s very telling whose lives really matter: they bring the Guard to D.C. for the inauguration yet let street violence persist in that very city, resulting in escalating homicide rates. Here in Minnesota, the Democrat Governor called up the National Guard one week before the inauguration based on zero real threat evidence, yet allowed Minneapolis to burn before the politicians decided to lift a finger (besides pointing it at each other in blame). Apparently they deserve protection, we don’t.
Yours is a great summary of a terrible double standard.

This post could make up a portion of the impeachment defense to demonstrate the overt duplicity of those bringing the charges against the President.

Agreed. I’m rather hoping that Trump’s team and any GOP Senators with spine drag out this for as long as possible. There’s a whole lot of Democrat invited violence this past year, let’s see Kamala called to testify about the bail funds, let’s see Maxine & Nancy called to answer about their incitement or to explain why different at the WI Capital vs the US Capital.

Let’s see Peter Navarro’s Election Report be given a full hearing, call & cross examine the various County and state officials with voting irregularities.

    This could be fun.

Actually, Mao’s approach on the Long March going from hamlet to hamlet was to destroy the police and use his Army to keep order (or not) in accordance with his political policies and objectives. Whether that is the Democrat’s intention for Antifa, that is almost certainly Xi’s intention for Antifa. The systematic eradication of the middle class on our west coast is also an encouraging development for Xi. The tyrant of Hong Kong has shown that he believes he can bring free markets under his repressive style of authoritarianism and not see the value dissipate before his eyes. He sees a day when the tech and entertainment sectors of the US are completely under his control. In many ways that are already.

The middle class gets all uppity and demands freedom and stuff.   Better to have only serfs to tend to the elites.

The Dems are all about power these days.  Hypocrisy and justice are irrelevant.   Stop trying to understand or call them out.  Just accept that they will do anything and say anything to increase their power and decrease yours.

After the events of the summer it ought to be apparent, even to a Democrat, that those mopes couldn’t organize a two cart caravan.

More and more I find that this statement, attributed to Karl Marx, helps me make sense of the actions of Democrats:

“The definition of morality is that which advances the revolution.”

(See also Trotsky’s 1938 pamphlet Their Morality and Ours, in which he argues that morality is not fixed but reflects contemporary class interests in society. One could call it contingent morality, pragmatic morality, or simply “the ends justify the means”.)

If violence advances the revolution (political goals), it is necessary and moral, and thus no Democrat called for the summer violence to stop until polling showed, particularly in regard to Kenosha, that it was turning voters against BLM and Democrats. The January 6th violence at the Capitol in itself did not advance leftist goals (it scared the cr*p out of them), but the fact that it did happen provides the opportunity and excuse to advance the revolution, i.e. to censor, cancel, and silence political enemies (they’re enemies not opponents), turn D.C. into a militarized zone to falsely exaggerate the threat of domestic terrorism and instill fear, and advance new domestic terrorism legislation (and perhaps gun control legislation that is soon to follow) that further tramples on individual rights, prevents grassroots populism (freedom of assembly), and criminalizes restricts political opposition.

The title of this post was originally “Democrat Leadership.” It didn’t refer to hypocrisy because I believe their behavior is more telling than that. Again, you can draw your own conclusions.

The problem is not merely that they are opportunists willing to lie when convenient. It’s much worse than that. Democrat leaders do not consistently reject violence, vandalism, and theft. They reject such evils only when political blowback looms. Such is a party checked only by power and not by morality.

This is a post for Republicans and conservatives, not a post to convert independents or Democrats. It’s a wake-up call to recognize that these are not genial compatriots eager for bipartisanship and compromise. These are Jacobins and Bolsheviks hoping to tear down America in pursuit of vague dreams of perfection. The DNC and supporters indulged the 2020 riots because they don’t mind if the world burns and they are in charge of the ashes.

Terrific post – there is enough material here to impeach numerous libs.  This is one to save to throw in the face of hypocritical liberal friends and family.

Impeach, remove, bar from office.  Nothing would make me happier than seeing Pelosi escorted out after an impeachment vote.

Agreed. It’s just continually shocking and disappointing that that there is anyone on the center right who doesn’t already know it. We’ve probably known it for close to 50 years actually, but only recently has is become unavoidable and unignorable. I argue is was both unavoidable and unignorable all along, but alas I’m just a deplorable wacko bird draconian extremist, now also fascist and white supremacist, who causes revulsion in suburbanites. So what do I know?
