‘Mostly’ The New Adverb
Mostly: the new adverb that has found favor among those that rarely have any ability to distinguish between reality, and fantasy.
During the summer of rage American cities endured “mostly” peaceful protests. Mostly peaceful protests that were fueled by a mostly false narrative of racist policing. Later on, this winter, Washington DC experienced some of this rage, but one day it became a mostly false narrative of a violent insurrection to overthrow the government. This was a riot conducted by a fringe group of conspiracy theorists that were fueled by their own mostly QAnon false narratives.
In the aftermath, 25,000 troops were sent to DC, and some of them were bivouacked in a mostly comfortable parking garage. “Mostly” honest journalists call the inauguration day riots in Portland and Seattle “protests.”
Mostly honest Twitter executives may have been ignoring “mostly” harmless child pornographers on their “mostly” woke platform.
A minor boy and his mother are suing Twitter, alleging that it benefited from and neglected to remove an exploitative video — featuring him and another minor — which was retweeted thousands of times and at least 167,000 views on the platform.
Announced on Wednesday, the federal lawsuit claims that the minor, John Doe, and his mother repeatedly contacted Twitter about the content, but the social media giant allegedly didn’t suspend accounts distributing it until a federal agent from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) intervened.
Most messages of healing and unity are rarely taken seriously by those who propose them. They are mostly stated as virtue signaling that they are mostly smarter, and more compassionate than anyone else.

Meanwhile, some on the Right are claiming that the blacklisting of Parler is mostly justified because they are a mostly free speech platform, and Big Tech censorship is mostly not a big deal.
“fiery but mostly peaceful” is my nomination for chyron of the decade.
Back in the mid-60s, I had a Marketing Prof tell me and my classmates that if the words “New and Improved” were somehow removed from the English language there would be no more advertising. I suspect that in today’s America, the removal of the word “mostly” from the English language would cause the entire field of journalism to collapse…

Is Biden “mostly” President?
FIFY.
Well done, Doug. As always.
I voted for Trump, because Hillary. I was mostly surprised that Trump didn’t turn into a progressive-from-Hell, and I was mostly pleased with the policies he pursued. I mostly ignored the critics who objected to how Trump said things rather than what things he did. Now I’m prepared to let bygones be bygones and mostly forget the things that the critics said.
In a few years. Mostly.
Epstein mostly killed himself.
They will change their tune once they become deplatformed themselves . . .
But only sometimes. After all, according to the statistics COVID-19 is (arguably) mostly harmless, but you won’t hear anybody make that claim in the MSM.
deleted because I decided my joke wasn’t good enough
I hate to be picayune, but isn’t “mostly” is an adjective?
Nope. It modifies adjectives, since it’s an adverb. Trust me.
I mostly hate to be pedantic, but adverbs also modify verbs, as in the phrase “I mostly hate to be pedantic”.
;-)
Why am I getting flashbacks to high school english???
Because I used to teach writing courses to adults.
Because of all the illegal drugs you consume.
Not me…I passed every “Operation Golden Flow” that I ever had…
It could’ve been worse:
The webinar that Ricochet hosted last week talked about this, sort of. Charles C.W. Cooke started his own hosting company (that Ricochet is now on), but even that isn’t the only way one could be de-platformed. The NY Post was de-platformed after all. While Ricochet now isn’t on those, that isn’t a guarantee that they cannot be shut down. After all, the ISPs aren’t required to do business with Charlie’s company, they just cannot be sued for what content comes from those servers.
