Arrogance and Delusion

What do you do with citizens in this country who are unable to grasp reality, but believe they know more than everyone else? What do you do when those people believe the rest of us are a threat to them, to their power, and to the Country? You call them out, over and over again. Two foolish and absurd statements that were made most recently were by Katie Couric and Representative Steve Cohen.

Katie Couric began her career in television and is still seen in guest appearances, such as on the Bill Maher show. She calls herself a journalist and is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. On Bill Maher’s show, she responded to a question from Maher on the state of the country and wondered how all of us who had supported Trump could be “de-programmed,” having been brainwashed by the Trump charisma.

Then there is Congressman Steve Cohen, who is very concerned about the National Guard which has been called in for security and protection for the Inauguration. He has pointed out that generally members of the military are conservative and must have supported Donald Trump, so it makes sense to be concerned about the Guard’s patriotism and commitment to protecting people at the inauguration. An effort is being made to vet the 25,000 Guardsmen, just in case.

It might be helpful to point out that Cohen has never worked outside of politics, and you might have guessed that he was never in the military.

Finally, we have all those people who either supported Trump or served in his administration. The House and Senate members who still support Trump are being called out. At least ten CEOs of major companies are threatening to stop funding Republicans who supported Trump. And there are stories of ordinary people who were “caught” posting conservative ideas on Twitter or Facebook and have been fired. They clearly endanger the country as well. I suspect these efforts against conservatives will not stop with the politicians. As Ms. Couric says, we have all been brainwashed.

The Left’s inability or unwillingness to get any kind of balanced perspective on the world makes any of us who don’t see the world through their prism a serious danger.

How will they rescue us and help us see the light?

I’m going to have to skip the Jeopardy episodes Couric is hosting. I can’t believe they would even think about giving her that opportunity.

And I don’t need to be rescued, thank you very much, Ms. Couric. (except from the libs plans to destroy our country)

I think that the most stirring moment of Ms. Couric’s career was when she had her colonoscopy broadcast live on TV. It appears to me that she’s talking out of that area of her anatomy now…

That’s funny. I somehow caught that episode, too. A really moving experience . . .

    [I can’t believe I said that ….]

Ah, that part came before the televised procedure.

And, it’s a miracle that we didn’t have to watch Ms. Couric drink the gallon of colonblow…

A question to be answered before the one you pose above. Exactly how was this supposed brainwashing accomplished?

Well, I don’t know about you, but I was transported out to Area 51 to be sized for my special tin foil hat.   It hasn’t been the same since then…

There is only one way and it’s been used rather effectively: forced re-education.

Right. Not my idea of a good time.

They can’t of course, for the simple reason that most of us haven’t been brainwashed by Trump.

    We’ll laugh at ourselves, too.

Have you noticed how many former military the Dems have put forward to the electorate?  It reminds me of Rahm Emanuel’s strategy of recruiting soft pro-gun Democrat candidates just to gain a majority . . .

At this point what is to be done?  We lost even though we had the White House and had experienced a very successful economy and received historically more votes than any candidate ever.   So do we think there will be honest elections when the Democrats are in charge of everything?  Will Democrats resist the radical left? The best we might hope for is that they take credit for the Trump economy  claiming  the growth already underway,  then leave it alone.  The worst for them and the country is if  they allow the far left to impose their damaging agenda?   A lot of people on our side also lack understanding, and think we can return to the open economy it was that was allowing the Chinese to take over just about everything.    The US by itself, has a larger economy with all the requisite economies of scale necessary, than we had globally before the Chinese joined in.   Things have changed.  The Chinese are a threat.  We have to get the Democrats and some Republicans to come to grips with the changes and new threats that have emerged in the last thirty years.

They are totalitarians who believe that the benevolent dictatorship of the family unit can be supersized to a national, nee world governing system to control individuals with dissenting opinions to act as they proscribe. And don’t have the inclination or ability to understand why conservatives don’t appreciate being looked at as children who would benefit from accepting their control. Conservatives believe family units are for raising children to become self governing adults. And the further government is removed from the individual, the more limited should be its influence. And they’re shocked there is a great divide between us.

Pappa Joe has called for unity, and if we won’t come to our senses, “then so be it.”

Conservatism and the GOP were buried forever by the LBJ blowout over Goldwater. Oops! Buried for sure after Watergate or after Clinton center-left formula, or certainly after Obama swept in.. or after the Trump closing insurrection…

The secret to GOP persistence is Democrats. Once in, Democrats will cause enough harm that they will be rejected.  About half of all Americans have a pretty clear understanding of the value of the Constitution and basic values. gaslighting, propaganda and economic persecution are not likely to change that.

Even white liberals must have some limit as to how often they are called racists. The Washington Post has already coined “multi-racial whiteness” to try to make non-white non-commies feel bad. I predict that will not be well-received.

I don’t think the monopolistic silos controlled by the tech czars can persist. I think conservative and libertarian thought will become exotic and inviting rather than extinct. I think with the demonic caricature of Trump gone, trying to punish conservative customers and suppliers will be seen for the idiocy it is. And good luck with a workforce with a preponderance of SJWs complaining or filing suit about everything.

I hope that in 2024, the GOP will nominate some combination of Nikki Haley/Tim Scott/Marco Rubio etc that kills the identity politics narrative of the left forever. Trump policies, results and economic growth but without Trumpian drama is going to have a very strong appeal after four years of utter and complete BS and failure.

I’m with you on all counts, @blondie. If it wasn’t so hilarious, I’d be furious. I take that back–I am furious! Although she’s hardly worth the effort.

Katie will be ok. The put the answers on the little cards they will give her. She doesn’t have to know anything.
