A Day of Darkness and Silence
Resolved: Inauguration Day 2021 should be a day for patriots to go dark and stay silent, to mourn a passing and to prepare for the challenge and struggle ahead. Let the land be filled only with ignoble bureaucrats and their small, scared followers, surrounded by police and military, with no threats to be seen (because they are unwilling to look within).
Not a day of celebration, but a day to reflect on next steps, and to get on with the work of nation building in the face of a temporary setback. Let the contrast be stark with the enthusiasm due only to leaders who serve the American people. The incoming administration is one richly deserving of being ignored, and opposed when necessary. But I propose that there be no public rallies on this day, no protests, no attention paid to these unworthy pretenders led by a cipher – a zero of no importance.
Early preparation for the inauguration, with clearly more chairs than needed…

Our silence is our protest. Well said, A.
That is what I’ll be doing.
The Democrats performed an open coup and rubbed it in our face the entire time. We’re done.
Some kind of “Day of Darkness” observation has an appeal although what should it be? I think privately we are already feeling it but I’d love to see something more public but refined, to puncture their self-satisfied balloon, and counteract snide comments from the left such as “Our national nightmare is over” (meaning the one they whipped up themselves with their derangement syndrome and “resistance movement”). We shouldn’t become obsessed with counterpunch but have to give other conservatives encouragement as the shadow descends.
Implying that the President “built an atmosphere” over several months means anyone attempting to raise any issue could be called a criminal. Questioning the validity of the election has always been allowed when the partisan shoe was on the other foot. And saying to “fight on” is militant is absurd, when such phrases (“keep up the good fight,” “fight for justice,” “the fight has just begun”) have always been understood as being political and not references to the use of weaponry.
Yes we need a multifaceted day of national mourning. Over the false investigations, political harassment, loss of dialogue, double standards, defunding police, false history narratives, and arrival of socialism in thin disguise.
Inauguration day starts the 1000 days of memes and mockery.
Good post. I strongly agree with this.
I had much the same thought myself, and mentioned it to my son last night. My daydream was this. I’ve seen reports that large numbers of cops and national guardsmen are preparing for the inauguration — up to 20,000, though I have no idea if this count is remotely correct. I’ve seen reports of very significant security measures being put in place in DC.
Here’s what I’d love to see. No Trump supporters show up, at all. There are no protests. A tiny group of Biden supporters show up — I don’t sense that anyone is enthusiastic about Biden, and the Left is much more worried about Covid. They are hugely outnumbered by the security. Biden looks weakly supported, and paranoid.
Though I actually think that significant security precautions are in order. Politics ain’t always fair.
This is exactly the point. On that day, DC should be like a combination of a ghost town and a wind-swept plain, with only the small figures of morally tiny men visible, dwarfed by the majesty of the Capitol building itself. Unless Biden chooses to do the ceremony in the basement, where he is more comfortable.
Biden has few real supporters – I believe most voted FOR or AGAINST Trump and his vision in the election, but only a vanishingly small number voted FOR Biden. Given their fear of COVID, and fear of other citizens, how many would show up? Let’s not add to those numbers.
I’ll be going about my business as usual. The other side won an election. Get over it.
Let’s fly our flags at half mast signifying the death of a great America
Roger Simon at Epoch Times wrote about exactly this, as well. I intend a complete, personal embargo myself: I will not waste so much as a moment on paying attention to that travesty. Furthermore, it is my great ambition to know as little as possible about the racist commies and commie racists who will shortly be serving in this illegitimate administration.
Sadly, because Michael Yon’s report (with video footage) of Antifa leading the charge on the 6th seems credible, I expect similar false flag activities by Antifa and leftists during the inauguration.
I expect some less thoughtful Trump fans will also show, but I hope not. You are right that Republican voters should not populate any crowds on that day.
In any case, we do need conservative journalists at the capitols to document whatever happens, because we can be sure that the left’s journalism will be selective in what it shows and
reportsmisrepresents. If those real journalists do not have the manpower to cover all they need to, they should carefully recruit trusted associates to record what they can at a safe but apparent (non-threatening) distance.Conservative journalists should also inform Republican officials in each area. That might help deter Democrats from abusing influence over security to exclude conservative media. Republicans could also help in media contests when the left weaves false narratives about conservative journalists acting irresponsibly somehow.
We underestimate the left’s ruthlessness and corruption at our peril.
There are things to celebrate, however. I’ll mention those in a paragraph or two.
Each and every statement made above has validity. At no time since the Presidency of Andrew Jackson has a president with such popular appeal faced down an insurmountable amount of snark.
Last night on a talk show, a Jim Rickerts, economic expert etc, mentioned how Trump had thwarted an opportunity handed to him on a silver platter. Rickerts claimed once COVID raised its infectious head, Trump had the same opportunity that FDR was given with the Depression. The claim was made that Trump should have used his 90 minutes of press conferences to rally the nation, and issue a statement like “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Here’s the problem Trump faced – when he did make majestic statements, they went unreported. When he traveled to Vietnam to meet with the No Korean delegation and bring about a truce, a member of the crowd yelled out, “So how will you feel if you are given the Nobel Peace prize, Mr President?”
Trump immediately replied, “The prize I seek is peace for every person on the planet – that is the only prize that matters.” (I’m paraphrasing but this was it in a nutshell.)
Did Mainstream Media run with that quote? Did any in the press mention that such a reply indicates that Trump is a lot less of a narcissist than portrayed? No of course not. In fact before he ever got off Air Force One in Vietnam, the local Santa Rosa Calif newspaper portrayed his mission as already a lost cause – before a single discussion had begun with the North Koreans.
So what is there to celebrate? For one thing, the DNC had planned a major theft of the election in Nov 2016. The DNC already had succeeded in stealing the Dem nomination away from Bernie Sanders & giving it to Hillary. All Hillary’s people had needed to do was to steal just a few thousand more votes in several battle ground states, & the 4 years Trump held the Oval Office would have never come to pass.
I’ll skip detailing Trump’s accomplishments, although I’ll list these this weekend before some Google algorithm reduces the thousands of items he accomplished down to 3 or 4.
Significant is the fact that when this recent election was stolen out from under him, he did not concede. He has fought & pressed on, unlike John Kerry in Ohio in 2004, & unlike Bernie Sanders during Summer 2016 & again in Spring of 2020.
My sincere hope for the future is that Trump makes election reform a major cause. As Jovan Pulitzer has stated, when election machinery flips votes from one candidate to another, it can only be caught in real time. Having election machinery defeats the purpose of having elections. In Great Britain, the populace there succeeded in making Brexit known as their desire only because they use paper and pens in their elections.
What color clothing should we wear during this ignoble ‘day of darkness’? Not black, for sure, and white is the color worn in China for mourning, I think.
Let this be the color worn by all who would see this country stand proud. RED, WHITE, AND BLUE! As much as you can put on!
Hopefully it rains and Biden forgets to wear a hat.
It will be necessary for at least 1,461 days.
The Dems stationed 20,000 troops in Washington for political theater. They want low-information-voters to believe that Trump voters are violent insurrectionists. And if they don’t get a riot, they will create one. The false flag riots are already being planned. All to give the incoming administration pretext for declaring conservatives to be domestic terrorists.
You might think that’s cynical. I don’t think it’s cynical enough.
They might interpret that as support.
It is a day where the beacon of light goes out for the world. Many freedom fighters in the world are just as sadden as we are. For me, it would be a day to fast and pray. We are at war and the future look awfully bleak. To think that the lawlessness of 6 states can change the outcome of an American Election without consequences is a very difficult pill to swallow. I wake up every morning with a hollow feeling in my heart. A sense of loss and grief. I hate that half the country thinks the other half are idiotic Trump Cult. And I blame the media for that. If I had been exposed to nothing but CNN for 4 years, I would feel the same way as them. Listening to Dennis Prager this morning on Epoch Times, his sadness come from learning how ugly and mean his fellow Americans have become and suggested that perhaps, we should just claim our land and let them have theirs before they corrupt all of america. When SCOTUS ruled Texas had no standing, it is a crack in the American constitution. Everyone who merely question Election Integrity now, is punished. Trump supporters wear a scarlet letter on our forehead. I feel like I am living in Communist China again. Only God can pull the rabbit of this hat.
Nice historical reference.
Seems the right response to hysteria. And it might not do any harm to say a prayer or two for the nation and that Joe Biden be granted some wisdom–at last.
Exactly what they said in Germany in 1933. Or if that’s too alarmist for you, in Venezuela in 1998.
Because a political party that supports six months of domestic terrorism in the name of the largest national hate group since the 1920s Klan is totally normal, and not a threat at all.
I will be reading books all that day. My TV set and my internet connection will be silent.
When Obama was inaugurated, I flew my American Flag upside down to signify the distress I anticipated. I wasn’t disappointed. Biden for all his deficiencies is going to be worse because while Obama never said what he really desired aloud, Biden lacks the discipline or awareness that he has any limitation on his power and will conform to whoever appears to offer him any policy that he can be convinced is popular with his insane base.
An irascible simpleton with diminished capacity and a history of never being on the right side of any policy.
Great post, I will do a similar one at RushBabe49.com. I may quote from you.
I would be honored!
@franzdrumlin
Question. Did Democrats in general and Stacey Abrams in particular adopt this strategy? Did the Abrams strategy pay off? If so, why? If not, why not? What can Reps learn from that?
No protest say you? Shall we then gather ’round the river?

We need to gather round the microphone, and the telephone, and the Ricochet site.
