Your Opinion on Impeachment
I’d like to gauge the extent of support for, or opposition to, impeachment among the Ricochetti. Here’s what I ask you to do: I’m going to set forth two questions, and if you’re interested in participating, I ask that you answer them in the comments. This will work better if you refrain from commenting or arguing, and simply state your answers.
The two questions are:
- At this moment, do you support or oppose the impeachment and conviction of President Trump? I recommend that you answer either “support impeachment and conviction,” “oppose impeachment and conviction,” or “undecided.”
- Have you changed your mind on the question of impeachment and removal? I recommend that you answer either “I have changed my mind as events unfolded” or “I have not changed my mind as events unfolded.” The purpose of this question is to gauge whether additional consideration, during the past 8 days or so, has altered any initial opinion that you may have formed.
I should add that, by answering question 1, I do not think that you should be bound to that answer in the future. You may learn additional facts, or you may be persuaded by additional arguments, in either direction.
Prior to this recommended poll, I have two data points about the level of support for impeachment and conviction among folks on the political right:
- Among the Ricochetti, the data suggest that we are close to 50-50. Jon Gabriel posted (here) on January 6, stating that the President should be impeached, convicted, and removed, and that post currently has 47 likes. I posted (here) on January 8, strongly criticizing the call for impeachment, and that post currently has 50 likes.
- Among Republican Congressmen, 200 opposed impeachment, 10 voted for impeachment (with 1 absent and not yet determined).
My answers: I oppose impeachment and conviction. I have not changed my mind as events unfolded.

It was the usual wacky Leftist (D) political stunt to send gullible Leftists some NT into a false state of euphoria, only to disappoint them when the asininity of the situation became obvious there was never enough time to remove Trump from office using the impeachment process, when Trump is leaving office in less than a week by law on his own volition.
Nothing happens fast in DC probably because most pols are also attorneys and they still think they are compensated by the billable hour.

What is it those who support the second impeachment hope to achieve by removing someone from office who is already gone?
Keep him from running in 2024. Probably strip him of his pension and such things as a Presidential library. I wouldn’t be surprised if they removed his Secret Service protection. Like I said, it is a Bill of Attainder.

I’ve been good about respecting the purpose of the thread, but I’ll allow myself one disruptive comment and then shut up.
Why impeach a man who is already gone? Why urinate upon your supine opponent after besting him in physical combat? It’s just something you do. (What, doesn’t everyone?)
And I think the only penalties of impeachment, per the Sacred Text, is removal from office and, optionally, barring from future high office. That’s it.
Get Out The Vote
I want to encourage the pro-impeachment members to vote.
As I recall, Jon Gabriel’s rather controversial post calling for impeachment in the afternoon of the riots produce a significant number of “likes”–certainly in excess of forty.
It would be interesting to know who has changed their mind since then, and equally important to hear from those who haven’t. We won’t put your eye out.

Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Di Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Gavin Newsom. Also Whitmer in Michigan and Cuomo in New York.
Plus riding Bill Gates/Fauci out of our solar system, after seriously having them tarred and feathered.
What did Pelosi and McConnell know about the security before the riot, and when did they know it? Is Trump being impeached for “inciting” a riot that was planned before he spoke?
