President Trump Speaks to the Nation: January 13, 2021

President TrumpWhat is needed now is for us to listen to one another, not to silence one another.

All of us can choose, by our actions, to rise above the rancor and find common ground and shared purpose.

We must focus on advancing the interests of the whole nation.

Early on January 13, 2021, the White House posted this statement, which the leftist billionaires have blocked from social (control) media.

Statement from the President

LAW & JUSTICE Issued on: January 13, 2021

In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind. That is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.

He then gave a brief address far more presidential and truly American than anything mouthed by Joe Biden. This post begins with a quote from that address. I advise you download the video before Google/YouTube disappears it.

Here is the automated transcript from C-SPAN, edited by me for regular capitalization and correcting errors:

My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the troubling events of the past week.

As I have said, the incursion of the U.S. Capitol struck at the very heart of our republic. It angered and appalled millions of Americans across the political spectrum.

I want to be very clear. I unequivocally condemn the violence that we saw last week. Violence and vandalism have absolutely no place in our country, and no place in our movement. Making America Great Again has always been about do defending the rule of law, supporting the men and women of law enforcement, and upholding our nation’s most sacred traditions and values.

Mob violence goes against everything that i believe in, and everything that are movement stands for. No true supporter of mine could ever endorse political violence. No true supporter of mine can ever disrespect law enforcement or our great American flag. No true supporter of mine could ever threaten or harass their fellow Americans.

If you do any of these things, you are not supporting our movement. You are attacking it, and you are attacking our country. We cannot tolerate it. Tragically, over the course of the last year, made so difficult because of COVID-19, we’ve seen political violence spiral out of control. We have seen too many riots, too many mobs, too many acts of intimidation and destruction. It must stop. Whether you are on the right or on the left, a Democrat or a Republican, there is never a justification for violence, no excuses, no exceptions. America is a nation of laws. Those who engaged in the attacks last week, will be brought to justice.

Now I am asking everyone who has ever believed in our agenda, to be thinking of ways to ease tensions, calm tempers, and help to promote peace in our country. There has been reporting that additional demonstrations are being planned in the coming days, both here in Washington, and across the country. I have been briefed by the U.S. Secret Service on the potential threats.

Every American deserves to have their voice heard in a respectful and peaceful way. That is your First Amendment right. But i cannot emphasize that there must be no violence, no lawbreaking, and no vandalism of any kind. Everyone must follow our laws and obey the instructions of law enforcement.

I have directed federal agencies to use all necessary resources to maintain order. In Washington D.C., we are bringing in thousands of National Guard members to secure the city and ensure that a transition can occur safely and without incident. Like all of you, I was shocked and deeply saddened by the calamity at the capitol last week. I want to thank the hundreds of millions of incredible American citizens who have responded to this moment with calm, moderation, and grace. We will get through this challenge, just like we always do.

I also want to say a few words about the unprecedented assault on free speech we have seen in recent days. These are tense and difficult times. The efforts to censor, cancel, and blacklist our fellow citizens are wrong and they are dangerous. What is needed now is for us to listen to one another, not to silence to one another.

All of us can choose by our actions to rise above the rancor and find common ground and shared purpose. We must focus on advancing the interests of the whole nation, delivering the miracle vaccines, defeating the pandemic, rebuilding the economy, protecting our national security, and upholding the rule of law.

Today, i am calling on all Americans to overcome the passions of the moment and joined together as one American people. Let us choose to move forward united for the good of our families, our communities, and our country.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.

The only thing I regret about this speech is that Trump didn’t express to Congress how he can relate to their fear and pain about being violated. He should have mentioned the times mobs surrounded the White House this summer going as far as setting fire to the church across the park.

Trump was also right that “they” aren’t after Trump, they’re after us. Yes, Gary, you too, and as imperfect as he is, Trump was between you and “them.”

“They” just came for Second City Cop. That is, no, was a blog which former prison chaplain Peter Grant describes as

a blog written by anonymous Chicago police officers (whether serving or former isn’t known).  For years they’ve given accurate, incisive and (frequently) derisive information about how law enforcement in the Windy City is – and isn’t – working, as well as commenting on the foibles and idiocies of that city’s administration.  They’ve taken great care to preserve their anonymity, for fear of retaliation.

    Well,

A few days ago, Second City Cop suddenly “went dark”, available only by invitation.  Many of its fans, including yours truly, wondered whether the authorities in Chicago had finally found out who was behind it, and had retaliated against them.  It seems they haven’t done that yet, but they were getting close.  The authors of Second City Cop released this statement:

Well, this was certainly a long time coming. Fifteen years, over 22,000 posts, almost two million comments and God knows how many attempts to silence us. But it might finally be over…at least this version of it.

Over the weekend, we received information from a contact at Google that internal chat/e-mails led them to believe that certain precautions we had taken over the years had been breached by Google. We had gotten similar warnings from others in the past, and we dealt with or ignored them as the situation warranted. But this one was different.

And this one – on the heels of Big Tech’s wholesale attack on the President, Parler and center-right to right-leaning authors, politicians and voices – pointed to a countdown that had far less time than we had thought. Most likely, far less time than you think, too. The blacklisting has begun, even if you won’t see it. You should – the wholesale abandonment of the President, the denunciations, the, “I wasn’t really with him” self-serving statements. Sound familiar? It should…if you have any recollections of the show trials behind the Iron Curtain, in Southeast Asia, in assorted Middle East kleptocracies.

Disavowal and re-education is on tap. What Senator McCarthy is remembered for – “Are you now or have you ever been…” has been twisted, refined (Bake that cake!), and exacerbated (Parler is only the first of many). They don’t want “unity.” They want Compliance and as the last fifteen years have shown, we aren’t really good at compliance. The amount of personal data available to “woke companies” who would deny commerce or service based on beliefs, contributions, investments (not Green enough!), social media posting, employment (cops not welcome here), bumper stickers – Have you heard of Operation Choke Point? Look it up and imagine it drilled down to individual citizens. Orwell’s 1984? It’s here.

I hope, too, that he is coming to terms in his own heart with the way things have ended. That doesn’t mean he’s changed his mind about anything, but the mental anguish through all of this must have been excruciating. The impeachment is a travesty and is mean and vindictive. I think he’s been through enough.

The impeachment is only the beginning. Look at the latest on Parler:

Social media platform Parler, which has gone dark after being cut off by major service providers that accused the app of failing to police violent content, may never get back online, said its CEO John Matze.

As a procession of business vendors severed ties with the two-year-old site following the storming of the U.S. Capitol last week, Matze said in an interview with Reuters on Wednesday that he does not know when or if it will return.

“It could be never,” he said. “We don’t know yet.”

So far, Matze is not finding other cloud computing services to host Parler, and will not talk about who he’s been talking to for fear that they would face “retaliation.”

Meanwhile, other vendors have cut Parler off:

Matze said, “It’s hard to keep track of how many people are telling us that we can no longer do business with them.”

He said Parler had also been booted from online payments service Stripe and had lost its Scylla Enterprise database as well as access to Twilio Inc and Slack Technologies Inc, a popular workplace messaging app. He also said it had been ditched by American Express Co, but the company said it did not have a direct merchant relationship with Parler.

    To quote Parler’s legal filing,

The notoriety and fallout from the break-up have driven away current and potential business partners, utterly frustrating Parler’s pre-termination plans to quickly replace and recover from [Amazon].

Matze hopes Amazon will take Parler back.

When little fish who depend on a particular company’s goods or services for survival think they have to that company to survive it isn’t a good omen for a healthy future for that little fish.

Dan Bongino has denied the reports that Parler users were doxxed. I didn’t transcribe and parse his denial, but I’m uneasy about it and the reports don’t sound refuted to me. I really hope I’m wrong about that.

The NYT is buying the data breach story. For what that’s worth.

“Because of how it was obtained, it’s unclear whether the Parler data will be used for prosecution, but there is a lot there that law enforcement can use to build leads,” said Roman Sannikov, director of cybercrime and underground intelligence at Recorded Future.

Security experts said that while the Parler scrape was not a hack, it indicated a security failure.

There’s a lot of that “security failure” stuff happening to the right these days.

It looks like a perfectly sane and thoughtful message that most definitely should have been aired on all networks and platforms.  It’s the same message that he gave when we witnessed the violence, burning, looting and attacking on citizens, business owners, law enforcement all summer, along with destroying statues, and public property, including police precincts! We witnessed monuments spray-painted and torn down, churches defaced and set fire to, and pleas for law and order went unheeded.

Armed idiots quarantined themselves off, taking up whole city blocks and named themselves Chop or Chaz. The leadership of those cities and states did nothing to break it up. They were spreading disease and squatting on the ground in the middle of a pandemic. The mayor of DC took it upon herself to write BLM in big letters across a street at our nation’s Capitol, even though they were violent and their movement showed militant tones.

I hope we get some peace soon, but censoring and silencing won’t bring it.

I am not sure what your intent or thought process is with this.  It is my sense that the way most people in his position would view the end of this would be as follows:

The Democratic machine blatantly and in the most corrupt way, stole this election. Then they persecuted him with this 2nd impeachment to permanently stain his reputation. He would also see this as a vindictive and uber show of force and power by the swamp, which includes the media and tech as a warning to the 70+MM people who supported him to shut up and crawl back into their little holes.

If it is your intent that he take blame for this ending, in some way because of his “crass behavior’, I would posit that the left would and will destroy any non-swamp entity regardless of how polite they tried to be.

What’s happening to Trump and his family right now is eerily similar to what happened to the Romanovs in 1917. It isn’t enough to just overthrow the government (which they did), they need to completely discredit and destroy the Trump family. Listen to the vile and disgusting things they say about his children. It’s demonic. I pray they don’t follow this through to the logical conclusion.

I said no such thing, @nohaaj. I would guess that the torment he went through emotionally was awful. I don’t expect him to make an immediate recovery. I’m talking about his internal process. He will do whatever he wants to do, but I hope he will not continue to suffer through the coming months and years to the degree he has suffered.

Edit: I would also add that I can do two things at once: I can criticize him for his comments to the protest crowd and I can feel compassion for him for all the events that have taken place and all he has been through.

More on that, from CNN no less:

Evidence uncovered so far, including weapons and tactics seen on surveillance video, suggests a level of planning that has led investigators to believe the attack on the US Capitol was not just a protest that spiraled out of control, a federal law enforcement official says.

Among the evidence the FBI is examining are indications that some participants at the Trump rally at the Ellipse, outside the White House, left the event early, perhaps to retrieve items to be used in the assault on the Capitol.

A team of investigators and prosecutors are also focused on the command and control aspect of the attack, looking at travel and communications records to determine if they can build a case that is similar to a counterterrorism investigation, the official said.

There are reports that the bad stuff began to happen even before the President began to speak, and certainly was underway as he spoke. Sure, people right outside the Capitol might, at least  in theory, have heard Trump’s words via their phones and been incited.

How closely will “investigators and prosecutors” look at infiltrators and provocateurs? How many of provocateurs on the scene were working for the FBI and other agencies?
