Déjà Vu: House Democrats Impeach Donald Trump
On a mostly party-line vote, the House of Representatives has impeached President Donald Trump for the second time. The final tally was 232-197 with all voting Democrats and 10 Republicans supporting the measure. This makes Trump the first US president to be impeached twice.
The following 10 GOP representatives voted to impeach:
- House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (WY)
- Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (OH)
- Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA)
- Rep. John Katko (NY)
- Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL)
- Rep. Peter Meijer (MI)
- Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA)
- Rep. Tom Rice (SC)
- Rep. Fred Upton (MI)
- Rep. David Valadao (CA)
The previous impeachment, held just over a year ago, passed 228-197. At that time, all Republicans and two Democrats voted against.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he will not call the upper chamber into session until Joe Biden is inaugurated president. If Pelosi actually delivers the article of impeachment to the Senate, that body can still vote to convict even though Trump will be napping at Mar-a-Lago. If every Democratic Senator votes “yea,” 17 Republicans will need to join them to deliver the required two-thirds majority.

One member likes to keep the narrative about himself. “Let’s talk about me!”
Sorry, not interested.
Nobody should ever give any money to any politician, ever.
People should especially not give money to a politician that they are unable to vote for because they do not live in said politicians state/district.
I guess you bought their vote.
I’d argue the “anymore.” A survey of the nation’s politics from 1966 to 1980 should convince anyone that Ronald Reagan was a miraculous respite from our petty silliness. The last 20 years are just a full return to form. You can find other long historical unserious spells without being all that cynical or industrious. The only thing that ever saves us (contra well-meaning civics teachers) is that most of us pay more attention to living than Current Events.
The remarkable thing about recent times is that the stakes for our imbecile Joan D’Arcs of every stripe have become so tiny. The politics of Lilliput. Which phrase probably indicates the seriousness level in politics worldwide has never been all that elevated.
That said, do we really need more chances to run around with our dresses over our heads? Things are jumping on the hysteria front as is without getting unglued over Presidential impeachment any more often than absolutely necessary.
Wash, rinse, inject, impeach, repeat.
Since you had no problem voting for a President compromised by CCP members, I’m sure you have no objection to a House effort being managed by a member compromised by a CCP member. Totally un-American all of you.
Well, now that we have been told that this “riot” was planned in advance, that reaffirms that there was no incitement (as if the timeline itself didn’t already prove that there was no incitement).
Any of you so-called “conservatives” going to apologize for jumping to conclusions and demanding impeachment? Or are you going to do the Democrats’ bidding and double-down on your “incited a coup” nonsense?
They’re prepared for this. I’ve noticed that a fall-back narrative is in place, likely the result of the realization that accusing Trump of inciting the riot in the moment doesn’t hold water. So let’s try something else. Trump’s comments before Jan. 6 were incitement. Don’t forget, he has no speech rights.
