Banished from the Parish of St. Algore the Great
One of the benefits of a classical Catholic education was the exposure to different ideas. My philosophy classes ranged from the ancient Greek, Catholic scholastic philosophy, and the Marxist philosophers, and all those in between those two schools of thought. My theology professors included a Rabbi and a Lutheran bishop.
There are a lot of different ideas out there on the internet, and a lot of anger when someone finds their beliefs are challenged. There are some Catholics that are upset at being poorly catechized. Some only seek catechesis so they may be assured that they are committing the big sins, not just the little sins. Nancy Pelosi always talks about praying for someone, but I suspect she belongs to the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Aggrievement.
The anger in the parish of St. Algore the Great has led to an attempt to silence conservative voices on social media sites. I’m a bit more optimistic that Parler will find a home once again.
I’ve read some farewell posts here on Ricochet but just as a gentle reminder, we do not all agree on every issue. Attack the ideas, not the person is the best advice I can give anyone. Human beings are flawed and in many cases they are not proposing anything that hasn’t been proposed in the past. One can hardly complain about being banished from St. Algore the Great, then propose banishing individuals from Ricochet.
One of the goals of a classical Catholic education is to prepare students for a world that is going to challenge their faith. As Lord Acton said; “Nothing is more irritating than the discovery of the pedigree of ideas.” What I hear from today’s politicians, pundits, and the public square are ideas that have very long pedigrees.

Bingo.
I don’t propose banning anyone. Not am I leaving at the moment. For one thing, I dont want to cede the battlefield to certain people.
But, I am paying for this, and the owners have made painfully clear they don’t care about customer satisfaction at all. Their attitude has never, ever been “how can we make your stay more agreeable” it had always been “good riddance”.
Agreed! It’s absolutely amazing how many times I have to say I’ve been a Trump supporter for four years but now…
Not a fan of banning. I don’t even like people using that Karen button . . . um, Flag feature. Let the kids play.
And if the experience isn’t enjoyable, than we stop paying for it. That’s how markets work.
My greatest learning achievement after 12 years of Catholic education was in the use of a ruler.Unfortunately I was instructed very rigorously.
I believe kids today use them to measure things . . . times change.
No actually they use their phones.
Is there some impression that the controversy here is about “banning”—I mean other than voter fraud posts on the Main Feed. I see a fair amount of dissatisfaction but not talk about kicking people out.
Nanzi is a poser who wears a human skin, with a zipper up the back. I think she may be a creature from the depths of hell. Stay away from her. She only feigns prayer.
