Shouldn’t This Present Problems?
The actor formerly known as Ellen Page recently came out in an Instagram post saying she is a man, now to be known as Elliot Page.
I have my own mixed feelings towards transgenderism but probably lean to the Ben Shapiro side more than anything. We won’t get into that here. What I want to get into are some of the problems a story like this should present to the mainstream leftist ideology. None of these are original, just a few picked up here or there I find to be especially challenging.
- Ellen Page was a white female actress. We’re told that females (especially actresses) are paid less. Will Elliot Page see an immediate pay increase?
- Now identifying as a male (in the post Elliot says trans which is just doublespeak for male in my opinion), which we’re told is all you have to do to become a male, is Elliot Page now a member of the white patriarchy?
- Now identifying as a male but continuing to work in “his” current role, is Elliot not taking a job away from an underprivileged female? Is that not some form of modern 2020 blackface?
The mainstream leftist ideology is riddled with contradictions, especially when it comes to sex. How does one do it? Are they all just real-life “This Is Fine” dogs?

Thanks. I knew that. :)
So the lesson is, don’t believe you when you say you don’t get something. Got it.
No, don’t believe me when I say, I knew that. :)
For what it’s worth, so is Go. ;)
( Incidentally, forth ranks right up there with TECO as among the most tersely irresponsible programming languages ever dreamed up, no doubt by people who really don’t like to type. )
That’s Mister Tur, Katy Tur’s dad, who thinks he’s Ms Tur and not Mister.
One possible benefit of the lockdowns is how a lot of this is peer pressure and by not going to school, some are deciding they really aren’t men. There’s been some reporting on this.
Beaten by Stina.
Wait, really?
Like katlyn jenners picture next to gold medal men’s decathlon?
I’d heard that shortly after the attack on Shapiro. It’s the case.
These people need compassionate therapy to return to wholeness. Instead they get coddled by a degenerate media that does nothing but enable their mental disabilities.
I also enjoyed how he was described as “a recently forged woman.”
My opinion on this kind of thing has shifted somewhat.
In theory, I don’t have a problem with adults choosing to adopt the clothing and assume the benefits and responsibilities traditionally associated with the opposite sex. There would be a sort of conservatism to that, in that it would affirm binary gender roles, while resolving the tension between the importance we place on those roles and an American idea of social freedom. You don’t get Transalpine Gaul by denying the existence of the Alps.
That’s not an endorsement of homosexuality either. In fact it would make more sense as a way for straight people looking for role-reversal to advertise themselves to each other.
I have a problem with the surgeries as destructive of the reproductive capacity, though I understand that’s becoming less common among self-described trans, and more than a problem when any of this stuff is peddled to kids.
The wars over pronouns and nomenclature are their own topic, but it’s enough to note that the cultural left has been the agressor.
What I really have a problem with is the nonbinary language that Page has invoked which is destructive of gender norms. Masculine and feminine virtue are real and society needs both to stay civilized.
They generally want the perceived benefits, but not the responsibilities.
In fact, the very idea of “responsibilities” (particularly those associated with a particular sex) is regressive and outdated!
Report to the nearest re-education camp.
I assume this was tongue in cheek.
If I had a young daughter, I guarantee the transgender craze wouldn’t be seducing her.
One of many reasons we homeschool.
Shame on me but I’d like to kick her in the balls. Kidding! Just kidding.
One assumes they don’t know that “forged” also means “fake.”
I was surprised when I heard that he was Katy’s father. It seems as though everyone in the business has at least one relative also in the business.
My primary issue with accepting it in any capacity is how long until a man or woman isn’t allowed to inquire into the biological reality in pursuit of a life-long, reproductive, mating relationship?
I can already hear conservatives saying that’s what technology is for.
heaven forbid the trans stuff ever gets this far.
It’s shocking. He has converted himself from a lesbian to a heterosexual man. Doesn’t he know that conversion therapy is illegal in California?
Nah, it was The Federalist. I’m sure that word was chosen on purpose.
He who?
Well then I expect The Federalist knows, but many people who encounter that may not understand that meaning. They’ll take it to mean she walked through fire and came out stronger.
Oh, he came out stranger alright.
Wait. Is that what you said? ;)
So how is it, That now she’s a man she can continue to play a girl on tv? She’s been in “The Umbrella Acadamy” (Netflix) and even after becoming a man, will still pretend to be a girl “Vanya Hargreeves” on the series. Season 3 of the series will be in production soon.
Shouldn’t he be a gentleman, and give up the role (of a woman) to a woman? Its only fair, right?
This amuses me, because this very morning I received a phone call from a lovely young lady who wanted me to give her an example of “begging the question,” and I didn’t come up with any that are as good as this. ;)
Oh, come on, man,
Vanya becomes Van.
Part of the story line…
Really? it must have been quite early. Nearly everything discussed on any news program these days is begging the (or just A) question.
I bet he just didn’t think of those at the time.
