They Can’t Kill Us All…
China has been cracking down on the Democracy Movement in Hong Kong for awhile. Today I learned that these three brave activists fighting for democracy in Hong Kong have been sentenced to prison by China. They are Sarah Chow, Ivan Lam and Joshua Wong.
This is Sarah Chow’s first time in prison:
Joshua Wong has been given the longest sentence:
Nike, LeBron James and the rest of the Woke crowd must be so proud. Today a little piece of my heart died.

Actually, they can. And will not hesitate to do so if, in their opinion, it will help them stay in power by decreasing public unrest.
I’m sure, based on what I’ve been hearing straight from Ricochet Admin that this is not even real, that nothing has been adjudicated and proven in court. How could anything possibly happen here.
China can & will. But I love the slogan which is on the t-shirt of Joshua Wong (picture above).
Bob I don’t know who were talking to. But I would be happy to supply more information.

China arrests and imprisons anyone they want. I have photos of Ivan & Joshua being loaded in prison vans. Aren’t you curious what their crimes are? Protesting.
@blueyeti has joined a couple of posts to explain why post having a lot of discussion about massive election fraud in the swing states are not being promoted to the main feed. He says that there is no massive election fraud. Hereis the latest:

Bob I am not talking about election fraud. I am talking about Hong Kong and the 7 year long Democracy Movement among students in Hong Kong. China has been jailing these kids for the last few years. And the prison sentences were passed today sending them from jail straight to prison in China. The Washington Post has has a few stories about this (under Asia). I deleted the Washington Post link because it goes to 2020 elections.
I consider the election fraud part of the effort to bring here what has been going on there. If you don’t think that is happening then you can discount whoever I offered. I’m an old-time anti-communist quite out of favor today. Notice we are jailing people for not doing what they are told as part of the pandemic whether those instructions are legal or not.
I should have labeled my first comment as sarcasm, sorry for that omission.
“They” killed 50 million trouble makers to start the CCP rule, they can kill/disappear millions now and Nike will still sell shoes made by slaves. Do you remember tank man? That guy that stood in front of some tanks a generation ago? Nobody in China does and 80 million Americans voted for a guy literally in business with the CCP.
What an odd conversation…
I added one more edit to what you commented on.
Bob I want to make sure I was clear. The people of Hong Kong are mostly anticommunist too. That’s why they have spent 7 years fighting against the return to China rule. And have been actively seeking their independence. China has started to wage a total war against all signs of democracy in Hong Kong. I understand your thoughts that we are almost in a parallel universe with China. And the Communists are winning.
I don’t think Bob and I are on the same page over Hong Kong and China. But my original post is deadly serious.
I remember Tiananmen Square June 4th 1989. It is seared into my brain. And I have feared a similar fate for Hong Kong when the British dumped it back into China’s full control. But I love these kids and the spirit that started their Democracy Movement. Biden is not going to do anything.
I think I messed this up by not making it clear that my first comment was sarcasm. I used Ricochet Admin and the election fraud here as an example of what happens when actual events fail to be reported publicly. I agree with you that Communists, whether here or in China, will do whatever it takes to get and retain power. We are doing it in our elections and the Chinese are doing it in Hong Kong as you point out. We don’t have a specific geographical area. Oirs breaks down between the urban and rural and between the elites and the middle class. Many are simply victims caught in the process.
Bob, not a problem for me.
I am waiting for someone to do the post on Hong Kong as a world financial center, and how that must change with the CCP in charge. Communism and Free Markets do not in any way go together. Something has to give, and it must be the world’s financial institutions and all their infrastructure, both physical and electronic, in Hong Kong. If they don’t leave now, they will not be allowed to leave in a very short time. Many expatriates from many countries work in Hong Kong today, and they all risk being literally trapped in Hong Kong by the CCP.
“Hold my beer”
I’d like to offer 100% of those Hong Kong freedom fighters US citizenship. Send them here to Texas. If I was Trump, I would do that and open the visa program with Poland.
I’d also like to send 100% of Democrat-Socialists to live in Hong Kong.
The CCP/China/Carrie Lam have also just arrested Jimmy Lai (I may not have his last name correct) and he will be in jail until his hearing in April. He has said he would not leave Hong Kong and that if he spent the rest of his life in prison it would be worth it to be the stone in Xi’s shoe. Please pray for him and the many who have been and will be arrested. They are all probably braver than I am.
In other news, Twitter board of directors has a new “independent director”:
My apologies for not including all the other people like Jimmy Lai who are sacrificing their freedom and possibly their lives for this seemingly impossible dream of democracy in Hong Kong.
No criticism meant Sweezle. In fact, I think he was just arrested today as I understood it from the BBC. The British are ticked about this but they really can’t/won’t do anything.
Sarah Spent her 24th birthday in jail/prison yesterday and Jimmy will be spending his 72nd in jail next week. There is no leverage over China in the governments of any “free” countries.
I’m sure Xi Biden will lead the free world in standing up to the thugs at the CCP. He’ll make us so very proud. If he gets his pudding.
I’m sure you are absolutely correct. Not that any leader has leverage over China. Biden won’t even try.
Covid has proved very useful to China in so many ways. While most of the world has been obsessing over the disease China’s crackdown on the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong has proved mostly successful from their point of view. But that’s not impacting greatly on the financial centers in Hong Kong short term. China’s goal currently is cultural unity between Hong Kong and China. They already control the political & military power.
