I got to go to a guest lecture by Dr. Williams when I was in college. He was wonderful. He will definitely be missed.
What a shame. Dr. Williams was a great man. He was 84, so he had a good run in this life, but I’ll miss his insight in the future.
Dr. Williams was fantastic. I’m a huge fan. He will be missed.
I am very sorry to hear this.
Oh no. He was a great man. Eternal rest in peace.
RIP, He will be missed.
What a great man and a great thinker. I will miss him.
To my wife, he is “The Ironing Board Man”. We first heard him guest hosting several years ago on Rush Limbaugh’s show and he was talking about a Christmas gift for his wife. His conclusion was that an ironing board was a very reasonable choice.
He was great.
He pulled so many over to the side of truth and liberty. I pray that he rest in peace, and that his teachings long outlive his mortal existence.
I heard Him say He was going to get His Wife a pair of golf shoes for Christmas, so She wouldn’t slip on the ice in the winter while washing His car.
Terrible news.
He had a gift for putting issues into very concrete terms to clarify them. I remember one time he said something like, “Can the government force you to mow your neighbor’s lawn? No? Then why can it force you to give him some of your money?”
Ditto. I thoroughly enjoyed his guest-hosting for Rush. I remember that, when his wife died, he was bereft, and I really felt bad for him. I have a concrete reminder of his goodness:
He had the antidote to White Guilt. Everyone needs to have this posted prominently.
Memory eternal! He got his three-score-years-and-ten with some change back. I will miss his wisdom.
I remember hearing him say that when he was hosting Rush’s show. I laughed so hard.
“I bought Mrs. Williams some golf shoes. Now, Mrs. Williams doesn’t play golf . . .”
One of our finest intellectuals. I have always enjoyed his wisdom and wit.
No! I was just reading his latest column on Townhall today. What a loss!
Teaching basic economics to the general public in a republic is of great importance for its well-being and survival.
It takes a teacher who understands economics and has credentials. Shockingly, very few of those with credentials as economists have even a basic understanding of it, and have in place of an understanding a combination of unscientific method, logical contradictions, and mystical irrational theory which they cling to for dear life and are impatient to spread like poison. One cannot teach oneself economics without continually confronting this frightening fact. (I can’t think of any other intellectual discipline where the established scholars are so ignorant of their subject and so confused by false theory.)
It takes also a teacher who can make correct theory understandable to non-specialists.
Most of the few who have the knowledge and credentials lack the ability to teach.
Williams had it all.
RIP, Walter E. Williams.
African American Studies
I couldn’t think of any other, but I didn’t try too hard. I knew I would get help in filling in this gap in thoughts from those with sharper minds.
Aww man . . .
He was my favorite Rush guest host – “Black by popular demand.”
I learned more about human behavior in my economics classes at the community college level, than I did in four years (including grad school) of college psychology courses.
Aww, this news bites. He was my favorite Rush guest host – “Black by popular demand.”
Update: I know my comment is redundant, but it shows how much I think this news is sad. I learned a lot from Williams, and Thomas Sowell as well.
RIP. I, too, enjoyed listening to him when he filled in for Rush.
LOL I got one too! He had a great sense of humor . . .
. . . but I bought them so she wouldn’t slip on the ice in the driveway while she scraped my windshield.
He would be introduced when guest-hosting for Rush as “Black by popular demand.”
I hope someone keeps his website up for a while so I can save everything on it, including his gift.
I believe he lost his wife not too long ago. This is a tremendous loss. May the Angels lead him to Paradise.
I also think they played some kind of African drums in the background . . .
You all know about the Triple-Like beta test by now and my participation in it. With the new month, I am permitted one Triple-Like in the category, “I Triple-Like this because it is funny, beautiful, and spot on”.
I am going over right now to my beta test computer and punching that button. Triple Thanks, RushBabe!
