Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Where the Count Stands Now

At 7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT, we do not have a winner of the presidential contest. Early Tuesday night, it appeared that Donald Trump was on track to achieve the impossible a second time. But as the late evening (and early morning) wore on, Biden moved within striking range.

Various media organizations have different numbers and projections, but according to the New York Times, Biden has 227 electoral votes to Trump’s 213. The winning candidate needs 270.

The Times has called every state except for eight: Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Put together, those states have 98 electoral votes.

Biden is currently leading in Arizona (by 5), Nevada (by 0.6%), and Wisconsin (by 0.7%).

Trump is currently leading in Alaska (by 27%), Georgia (2.2%), Michigan (0.5%), North Carolina (1.4%), and Pennsylvania (11.5%).

If all these states hold, Trump wins with 284 electoral votes. But that’s a big “if.”

Trump was leading in Wisconsin until a tranche of urban votes rolled in at about 3 a.m. local time. The race flipped to Biden by a hair. The same could happen in Michigan and elsewhere.

Trump was utterly dominating Pennsylvania when the counters called a lid, saying they wouldn’t count the Philly-centric votes until 11 a.m. Wednesday. There is zero excuse for PA and other states to abruptly stop a vote count in a high-pressure, low-trust election like 2020. It’s no surprise that Trump warned of shenanigans and possibly stealing the election.

Bluechecks on Twitter were shocked™ and appalled® at Trump’s intemperate remarks, while Trump fans blasted the lazy vote counters. The whole world is watching Pennsylvania and the Keystone State Cops decided to take a nap. Inexcusable.

As it stands now, Biden has the advantage. It may take several days for the final counts to shake out.

In brighter news, it appears that the GOP will gain seats in the House and retain the majority in the Senate. This is the opposite of what the polls predicted; they were also wrong about Biden winning in a walk.

If Biden wins in a squeaker with a GOP-led Senate, radical ideas like packing the courts, creating new states, and the Green New Deal are off the table. It will be two years of gridlock, followed by a stronger GOP Senate and possibly a GOP-led House.

Yup. This always happens. The vote fraud operation in Wisconsin is a well-oiled machine.

What anti fraud arrangements have Republicans made in districts known for fraud? This can’t be a surprise.

    Drew,

I was hoping you’d wake up last night and watch it with us and comment. Trump was 110,000 votes up at about 3:30 am. Then 1 hour later Biden was up by 10,000. Given the number of absentee ballots available it would have taken a ratio of Biden to Trump of 10:1 to make that happen. Not possible. Fraud, fraud, and fraud.

    Regards,

    Jim

Totals from Milwaukee, Kenosha and Green Bay push Biden to a 20,000 vote lead in Wisconsin

After all the upheaval of the past year and the drama and turmoil of President Donald Trump’s first term, Wisconsin once again went down to the wire in the 2020 election, with Democrat Joe Biden holding a lead of around 20,000 votes with almost all the unofficial returns in.

That is very close to Trump’s winning margin in 2016.

Biden overtook Trump in early morning hours when the city of Milwaukee finally reported its roughly 170,000 absentee votes, which were overwhelmingly Democratic. Then late returns from Green Bay and the city of Kenosha added to his slender lead.

Trump had nurtured a lead of more than 100,000 votes before that.

Even if Biden pulls this out there are several things that have emerged from this:

    1. The hand-wringing, bed-wetting faction of the Republican Party needs to grow a spine (and maybe a brain and a pair of ears). The down ticket “disaster” that was going to gut the party and allow ¡Jeb! supporters to purge the president and his base and reimagine the GOP into its recent Bushie past ain’t happening. You want forever wars and a globalist future? There’s a party for you but it isn’t the Republicans.

    2. Maybe I’m throwing (stuff) on the wall here, but this will stick: It’s probably a bad idea to attack the voters instead of the candidates. You don’t persuade anyone with the opening gambit of “I hate you MFing racist rubes now vote the way I tell you.” Note to David French: Calling evangelical Christians sinners and cultists doesn’t work, either.

    3. For all of the professional consultants (and the amateur ones as well) Donald Trump has shown you the way to grow the party. He has renewed Reagan’s quest to turn the GOP into the party of the working American. The Chamber of Commerce Globalists who care about cheap labor and tinkering with the tax code is not the way forward.

    4. Finally, understand this: Do not give us crap about ethics and “the rule of law” while holding up Joe Biden as your standard bearer. There is privilege and a separate legal system in America but it’s based on politics, not race or gender. When institutions such as the FBI become corrupt, taking on the corruption is not “attacking the norms.” If corruption is the norm then it needs to attacked – head on and with great vigor.

    Not based on last night.

All the irregularities come from Democrat strongholds only in swing states. I did not see you condemn the courts in PA for chancing the rules in an unconstitutional matter.

You Gary support Biden by hook or by crook. That is clear. You support vote fraud because you are cheering this on.

And the margin is slim enough that the likes of you have caused this. I will never forgive you and your ilk. Nor will the GOP voters you think are going to come crawling back to you. They. Will. Not.

I’m going to get roasted for this but I must respectfully disagree. Donald Trump has served his purpose….he got the Republican Party off its kester to finally go out and attain the conservative working/middle class African American/Hispanic/Latino/Woman voter. This election has shown the possibilities of building a true new coalition. I would respectfully argue that to drag this election into the mud is not worth possibly jeopardizing this possibility. It looks like Republicans will hold the senate so Joe and Kamala can’t do much of anything. It is time to move to 2022….take back the house….increase the lead in the senate….and then run Tim Scott in 2024 and take it all.

Oh man. I was at work last night – I turned on the global news (Canadian TV channel) live coverage on Youtube – this would’ve been about 9:30 MTN or so… and the had Biden 272 Trump 131.. Oh I can’t tell you how quickly my stomach turned over. But then they started showing their map – it looked like the 270 to win map – with different shades to represent the strength of the vote in each state… (They would eventually change it) I see an Australian News network has called the election for President Trump.

No Bryan, I support the Rule of Law. I do not support Biden by hook or crook. I am not supporting vote fraud. I support counting every vote.

Whether you like it or not, the Republican Party cannot win the Presidency without its so-called Never Trump voters. So, the question is if you want to win with Trump Skeptics within the tent, or lose without us? Trump executed a hostile takeover of the a Republican Party in 2016. Trump Skeptic Republicans apparently have done the same in 2020. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Finally, you don’t get to decide if I am a Republican. This is not the Soviet Union where unorthodox Communists were kicked out of the Party. Trump Skeptics are here in the party, and we ain’t leaving. Get over it.

As of 8 AM EST, it’s down to this:

Pennsylvania still has Trump in a big lead (700,000 votes) – but there’s still a lot of votes from Philly to be counted, so that lead will shrink. He’s probably still going to keep the state, I think.

Michigan still has Trump in a 10,000 vote lead – but Detroit has a third of their votes left to count. Which means Michigan is a loss.

The race in Nevada is under 8,000 votes, and they’re still counting.

Arizona? That’s where it gets interesting. Trump is losing, but the mail-in votes are still being counted, and they’re supposedly breaking about 2:1 for Trump, but he’s still down about 100,000 votes. It’s still possible that Arizona could shift red some time today. If not, it’s probably over.

Right now, if Biden manages to take and hold Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Wisconsin, he’s at 270.

I am very depressed. The Steal is on. President Harris?!?! Really? Actually, I am both sad and angry. This is going to be a slow motion robbery. Goodbye tax cuts. Goodbye Middle East peace. Goodbye comity with friends and neighbors. Holding the Senate won’t mean much with turncoats like Romney and Collins and Murkowski.

I have arthritis in my throwing shoulder. I would make a poor rioter. Sorry…mostly peaceful protester.
