‘Whoever’ Courageously Leads us to ‘Wherever’

Joe Biden recently changed his social media picture to this one, in which he wears sunglasses and a mask. There has to be a good reason for a candidate who depends on being recognized to use a picture where you can’t see his face. I like the ear being pulled forward. Nice touch.

Whoever wrote his bio did a nice job, as well. He’s husband to Dr. Biden — he respects women! He likes ice cream, sunglasses, and choo-choo trains — he’s harmless! And Mr. Biden’s handlers understand that the less voters see and hear from him, the more popular he’ll be. Vote for him and we’ll keep him under wraps — we promise!

So he’s running for president, and his page does not show his party affiliation, what he believes in, what his plans are, and now doesn’t even show his face. Come on people — get excited! Get out there and vote! For, um, you know…

There is an inverse correlation between the insistence that everybody call you DOCTOR and the actual worth of the degree.

    That is so, so true…

I have a JD, which is much more rigorous than Mrs. Biden’s credential.  Whenever someone insists I call her “Doctor,” I will require them to address me as doctor as well.

I have no plan to ever call her doctor.

I regularly work with professors, only M.D.s  expect to be called Doctor, and not even all of them.   90% of them go by their first name, even people with lots of honors and leading research.

In my academic career I always identified myself as “Professor X” to my students. Like nearly all my colleagues, I believed that  “Doctor” refers to a medical person (MD or equivalent). Calling yourself “Doctor Y” when you don’t have a medical degree is usually a tell that you have a garbage degree.

This reminds me of a meme I saw, which I wish I’d saved, which consisted of a picture of someone wearing a face mask across the back of her head, and the statement that when all this was over we’d all have to wear the masks the other way round for a year or so just to fix our ears . . .

As part of my current project, I’m hosting 37 interviews for around 150 people, spaced over 5 months.  We are 83% complete.

Does that mean I can get my doctorate in 17 percentage, um, points…days?  Doctor Gazpacho, at yer service!

They forgot to add “likes to slander deceased private citizens for political gain.”

BTW – I live in a fairly split district and massive Trump parties are popping up everywhere. I’ve never seen enthusiasm like this for a candidate. I don’t see anything like this for Biden. I talked to quite a few people that have lived through far more presidencies than I have, and they also say they’ve never seen enthusiasm like this before. Maybe I’m reading into things, but I think there’s a lot of people out there that the polls don’t factor in.

I am intrigued by the emphasis Mr. Biden and his associates continuously put on Mrs. Biden’s doctorate (while usually sliding past what it is a doctorate of).

Sure, any earned doctorate is something of which to be proud. But a Doctor of Education (Ed.D., Mrs. Biden’s degree) is almost certainly one of the easiest doctorates to earn, and does not require the same level of academic rigor that a Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Dentistry (D.D.S), or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in a subject like Chemistry or Physics requires.

My instinct is to conclude that the Bidens’ strong insistence on including the “Doctor” part of Mrs. Biden’s name is a sign of insecurity on the part of one or both of them.

Back when there was such a thing as etiquette, it was proper in social contexts to use the title of “Doctor” only for a physician/surgeon and maybe a dentist. When my son received his Ph.D in biostatistics, I itched to address correspondence to “Dr. Suspirason” due to maternal pride, but, in the end, bowed to the old-fashioned social convention.

But if, as First Lady, Jill continues to be called “Dr. Biden,” I may throw off the shackles of outmoded modesty and slip that title onto his Christmas card.

I agree that a good Democrat candidate could win. Half the country’s voters hate Trump. There is a fair amount 0f analysis of this phenomenon.  Why they hate him.  The trouble with Democrats is their candidates.  Bernie is popular with the young.  One of my daughters probably voted for him in 2016.  I think he looks like the guy in “Back to the Future” but the kids love free stuff, especially if they have  student loans.  I have sometimes wondered if Obama nationalized student loans to bring on Socialism.  It is a big factor in the agenda of the left.

The (D)/MSM/BigTech/Culture combine have waged a relentless anti-Trump propaganda campaign from the moment Trump shocked the world and was elected President in 2016.   And like any effective propaganda campaign there are millions who have come to hate Trump and, many who support Trump but do not feel comfortable making their Trump support very public.

Not even taking into consideration the Obama DOJ/FBI/IC and MSM corrupt Russia collusion ClusterSchtoop, there has been an anti-Trump everything negative, and nothing positive relentlessly blown out of nearly all the News/Culture/Entertainment/Educational blow holes for Four freaking years, and …. no thanks to the Vichey NT …. Trump may still pull this thing off.
