I think the number is 99% in the Bay Area. I’m worried that having no sign whatsoever will lead to harassment. “No Sign = Violence”
So I recently put up a Trump sign in my front yard.
And I’ve added a surprise for anyone who tries to “liberate” it.
I’ve wired a “flash bang” to it with a trip wire which will go off after they go about 3 feet…
Not going to hurt anyone, but may cause them to need a change of underwear.
My husband doesn’t like having signs in the yard for this reason and I won’t put one on my truck, either. I do still have my Women for Trump sign up in the garage that can be seen when the door is open. We have had vandalism and theft of signs in the Triangle area. This Cary family found out how tolerant the other side can be. There have also been American flags taken right from front porches. Most of the culprits have been teenagers, like the ones in your story, @max. As we say around here, “they got no raisin’ “.
FYI @garyrobbins When you post a picture, at the bottom right will be a box that allows you to select “thumbnail” or several larger sizes up to “full size”. Makes the pictures legible.
Thank you. I had forgotten where the button was.
My car was keyed in Chicago visiting my family when GW was president.
I wonder why?
Damn straight.
Here are some practical alternatives:
Hey, Gary, these are your people threatening violence. You must be so proud.
Not when Democrats are DAs.
My parents live in Indianapolis and they say they haven’t noticed a lot of Trump-Pence yard signs (barely any for Biden) but they do notice a lot of American flags in yards and attached to cars, on bumper stickers. My mother’s theory is the flag is the new symbol of the resistance.
I’m guessing it was that “G” off to the side there.
LOL. That didn’t help for sure.
There are Trump supporters in my neighborhood, but no Trump signs. A house in the next neighborhood over did proudly display a few, but somebody stole them, so the tenant bought a new one, affixed it to the wall (above the doorbell), printed out another sign reading something like, “Come and take this one!” and then put more Trump signs in every second-story window.
Still, my favorite has to be the barbed-wire-wrapped Trump sign I saw in Delaware County, Ohio.
Yes, exactly! When Mr. C and I see an American flag proudly flying outside someone’s home, we say to each other — “there’s a Trump voter.”
There must be consequences for these people threatening arson. I hope the police are investigating. Or maybe the FBI can do something useful for a change and track down these domestic terrorists.
This may be true in heavily Democratic areas, but it’s not the case around here. I see a lot of Biden/flag pairings.
I also ran across this, earlier this month:
This is the most opulent house in a small, isolated rural-Ohio town. Some uber-wealthy suburbanite who works for a hyper-woke corporation bought it a few years ago, restored it, and then proceeded to desecrate it with propaganda. All the surrounding yards are filled with Trump signs. A perfect tableau of American society in 2020: It illustrates the degree to which the Democratic Party has become the party of the American elite.
In Flagstaff, the signs being taken down are Biden ones. This is wrong, no matter who does it. When I ran for office in 2012, my opponent’s friends would mess with my signs.
You are voting for Biden. He is the party of vandalism, riots, and looting.
Your people Gary. Your condemnation is hollow, because you proudly support this corrupt man.
I like this. Somewhat related; I don’t like American Flag masks. In my America of my youth we would have had the same reaction to masks as that of Gen. McAuliffe at Bastogne: “Nuts!”. Sorry if I offended anyone.
I haven’t decided whether to take my Trump flag down on Halloween night or train a camera on it while I sit in a chair nearby with a canister or two of pepper gel. About half of the homes in my neighborhood are displaying American flags, and about 3 per block are displaying Trump signs or banners…but on Halloween, one has to assume that some anti-Trump teenagers or adults may get a bit carried away and decide to rip down signs and banners. So, precautions may be necessary.
I think you can find a video somewhere of someone attempting to pee on an electrified Trump sign…..it didn’t end well.
There’s also a (long) video showing a couple of idiots in Arizona caught stealing multiple Trump signs while having a loaded rifle in the back of the car (possibly belonging to a parent)……they may regret that choice for a long, long time.
Bless your heart Bryan.
I won’t put a Trump sign up. It yields the initiative.
I do not wear American flag design clothes, unless it is a patch as part of a uniform, nor display designs based on the flag, like the thin blue line flag. They are simply disrespectful to the flag. The stars and stripes mean something and represent the nation. I love my police, I object to the design, not the sentiment and loyalty being expressed.
I don’t suppose I could interest you in an alternative:
This isn’t new to the Trump era. Sign stealing and defacing is an old Democratic tradition.
How true.
Suppressing others it what Democrats have long been about.
