Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. Mark Kelly: Lost In Space

Mark Kelly has returned to earth and is running against Martha McSally for a US Senate seat. There is a lot of money pouring into Arizona, as well as union manpower from California, that have taken up temporary residence in Arizona to participate in his campaign. Union members that are going door to door to extol the virtues of a carpet bagger from Houston to turn Arizona Blue.

I would imagine that these out-of-state efforts are concentrated in Maricopa, and Pima County, containing the cities of Phoenix, and Tucson.

Arizona has a long history of Texans coming to Arizona. Cowboys on the run from the law trying to find a home in the big nowhere were the first exports from Texas after the Civil War. Elections were a bit more contentious, especially for county sheriff when Arizona was a territory.

The county sheriff was allowed to keep a portion of the taxes he collected. Counties that contained silver and copper mines were especially lucrative for a sheriff. There are stories of men, women, and children being collected and traveling in wagons to vote in several different towns in a county on the same day. Voter fraud is nothing new.

The Chinese government exports more than just a virus, they export cash. Like the mining companies in Arizona in the late 1800s, they expect a return on their investments.

Mark Kelly has some interesting ties to Chinese investments.

Kelly, who is challenging Republican incumbent Martha McSally for an Arizona Senate seat, has faced scrutiny for other China-linked business interests and investments. World View Enterprises, a company he cofounded and holds investments in, received funding from Chinese tech company Tencent, the Washington Free Beacon reported last October. Tencent has been accused of espionage and of censoring antigovernment sentiment on its WeChat app.

His campaign makes no bones about his lying about gun control, “just till he gets elected”.

Yeah, @cliffordbrown and @dong have written excellent posts about this race. As I mentioned before, I’m a bit baffled as to why McSally is runnning behind this guy.

Granted, the media will always be against the Republican but, as you point out, Kelly has a considerable amount of baggage. I don’t know why the Republicans aren’t exploiting it more.

Are any journalists outside of the Free Beacon showing any interest in these ties?

Did you see the post by his campaign spox about cops? I cleaned it up. It is good to know where people stand.

he campaign spokesman for Arizona Democratic Senate candidate Mark Kelly referred to police as “worthless f—ing pigs” on Twitter in August, a comment that could complicate Kelly’s effort to distance himself from radical anti-police sentiment from the left flank of his party.

T.J. L’Heureux, Kelly’s deputy press secretary, posted the message in response to a video that showed Chicago police clashing with protesters over the summer. “You worthless f—ing pigs,” wrote L’Heureux on Aug. 17, directing the message to the Chicago Police Department’s official Twitter account.

L’Heureux officially joined Kelly’s campaign as a spokesperson one week later, on Aug. 24.

I tweeted a link to Andrew McCarthy’s piece on the original email (my first in months). I even got a response back from @katievs, who has been scarce in these parts. (Some of us miss you, katie!) The tweet is still there, but the link to it went down the memory hole.

Kelly is on TV with ads constantly. I know Martha and like her but she is not the greatest candidate. I did not watch the debate between those two but I understand the “Moderator” asked about Trump first question and she waffled. If anyone saw that, correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know anything about her, but from what I read here McSally sounds like one of those half-hearted campaigners that the GOP has been plagued with these many years. I’m thinking of Mitt, McCain, GHWB, Governor Corporate, and others. I hope that some can take a cue from VP Pence and fight for the issues without necessarily being Trump.

What bugs me is, why does Kyrsten Sinema get to be a socialist her whole life and now she’s a moderate?

Now the next Democrat is a celebrity gun grabber with an engineering degree.

It would be better if the government didn’t have so much power.

    Just reporting.

I heard somewhere that McCain had sort of a mafia that prevented other types of Republicans from getting any power. I really wish he would’ve gotten rid of the ACA.

Too easy to click “like” and think we’ve done something.

I’ve already made a donation to the McSally campaign. It’s a seat worth saving, as are Maine and the others.

If she wins it will be a pleasant surprise. I’m thinking so many liberal Californians have moved there that AZ is going to start losing conservative retirees to Florida and Texas.

Kelly doesn’t seem to pay much attention to the sort of campaign workers he hires:

McSally has run a terrible campaign, mostly negative, and when not negative, defending attacks against her. Very little for why she should be elected. And her previous embrace of Trump is an issue, because now she is not proclaiming support by the president.

As a Republican I don’t think I can vote for her.

If Puerto Rico and DC are admitted to the Union, none of our votes for Senator will matter. Ever.

Puerto Rico is insane. It would be like letting Chicago in as a separate state. All the average person wants there is the corruption controlled and some prosperity. It’s hard to find more corruption and fiscal irresponsibility anywhere on this side of the planet. I don’t know how that nets out for them if they have to start paying IRS taxes.

Puerto Rico needs help. They don’t need to join the union as a state. They get category six earthquakes and category five hurricanes. Their infrastructure is a disaster. Too much debt. Everybody that is smart, honest, and productive gets the hell out of there. We need to do something.

There are too many Republicans that are very stupid about both of them but DC is inexcusable. There are constitutional and historical reasons this shouldn’t happen.
