Trump, in My Opinion

I think it would help everybody if, we just acknowledged a few things.

1. Trump is an [redacted]. It’s fine, we have a proud American tradition of [redacted] presidents including LBJ and Harry Truman. Sometimes it also allows people to be necessary change agents. Just say it. “Trump is an [redacted].” It’s not a problem.

2. Trump isn’t a conservative. He is a center-left moderate who cut a deal. He gets to try some new foreign policy stuff and we get judges. There isn’t a single thing he ran on, outside of judges, that wasn’t the bipartisan consensus position before the left exited the American political spectrum, and the right collapsed into a grifter-led minarchist purity spiral. We have to honest with ourselves to be honest with others.

Thank you. That is all.

I was attracted to the Republican Party due to its emphasis on character, the Rule of Law, the Constitution, limited government, reduced government spending, national defense and free trade. I saw that in Reagan. I don’t see any of that in Trump.

You can make a case against Trump’s character – but not a case that Biden’s character is superior.

You can make a case against Trump’s spending – but you would have to admit heavy spending by Republicans past and concede that COVID costs money, and that a Democrat president would have spent far more money.

National defense is robust under Trump.

The remaining two, Rule of Law and the Constitution have been the arenas in which Trump has been stellar. Also, the capital letters and your profession suggest that they should be given precedence over the remaining three.

You can lie to yourself about Trump but you cannot convince others and this is why.

W was weak on insisting on loyalty,

That’s not what was said when he was in office. It was said that he insisted on loyalty. It was a weakness of his.

Trump and rule of law is an oxymoron. How many of his associates have been charged with crimes?

No, he was loyal and didn’t ask it in return.

That is nonsense. You ought to frame it and put it in your avatar.

No President is like that, least of all the Bushes. If you don’t believe me, Google for “Bush expected loyalty.”

You certainly haven’t seen it in the treatment of the Tea Party by GOP establishment.  Sarah Palin was undercut by McCain campaign figures who now identify with Democrats, like Nicole Wallace.  The Tea Party was referred to by your sainted John McCain as “cuckoo birds.”  You are just a fan of Washington Generals who play to lose.

How are you framed into a guilty plea? These people have good lawyers. Why did Flynn lie when what he did was not illegal? That has never been explained, and yes, he lied.

Associates. But Trump’s sister resigned her judgeship to end an investigation into her part of a scheme to avoid taxes on the father’s estate.

And none of Biden’s family has been charged. Hunter may be slimy but taking money from people who want to give you money is no crime. There is nothing for the FBI to investigate.

Except for the thousands of times it has been explained. He was blackmailed into confessing to protect his son from unrelated charges.

It’s called lawfare.  Bankrupting the accused, and still threatening to try him and possibly send him to jail, AND threatening his son with the same thing.  Flynn took the bullet for his son and his son’s family.  Period.  When the prosecutors wanted him to lie ab out someone else, and to lie about what he plead guilty to as well, he objected and was further threatened with jail time.  That’s when he got Powell.  This is all public information.

What he plead guilty to was filing a false information on a form.  What he didn’t plead guilty to was intentionally, that is willfully and knowingly, submitting a falsified form.

I’d you haven’t already gotten yourself informed about the lawyer situation at the heart of the guilty plea nothing we say here is likely to sink in, either.

If Flynn had not lied then nothing would have happened. There was nothing that he could have pled guilty to. No blackmail.

Lying neessarily involves an attempt to deceive.  When did he lie.
