MAGA Supermarket Diaries
This morning I hit the supermarket in my red MAGA cap. I’ve been a bit cowardly about wearing it in public in my very aggressive progressive town.
One man gave me a double take, but when he saw me again in the parking lot he gave me thumbs up. His truck had Trump 2020 stickers. As I was getting into my car, I told him I was not tired of winning yet, and he agreed. The car next to me began pulling out and opened the window. The two twenty-something black men inside leaned over and called out, “Trump 2020!” I whooped, they whooped, and as they drove out of the parking lot we all whooped again, including the guy in the truck.
On my way home I stopped at the church to drop off groceries for the food pantry and have a Mass said for the President and the First Lady.
God bless him.

Sounds all positive so far.
So inspiring, Mama Toad! What a great experience! Thanks for lifting up my day!
It is obvious from the progs line of attack starting with that Prog leprechaun Wallace. That they are scared to death about all those pro Trump black dudes.
? Oh, you mean Mike’s boy?
Those guys couldn’t have been black. Just ask Joe.
The Mass is 7am on October 13th, in case anyone wants to join me!
And this was in Greenwich ,Conn ? Or was it Marin, Ca ? Couldn’t possibly be the Upper East Side, the supermarket parking lots arent that big.
I live in New Paltz, NY. The supermarket is next door in the town of Lloyd.
Mama Toad, you’ve made my day. Maybe there is hope.
I went to college at New Paltz! Funny story, that was actually my first experience with leftism. I’m about three hours upstate in a fairly rural community. New Paltz was a total culture shock to 18 year old-me. I had no clue what planet I ended up on. I was also a fine art major, which I’m sure didn’t help.
Kent, I can’t tell you how great it felt.
There is always hope.
I wore the hat this summer at a supermarket in Queensbury/Glens Falls. All positive responses there, but I was more scared around here. I’m still scared, but I’m heartened and encouraged. I’ll wear it more.
Maybe not to the library, though. We’ll see…
The New York Times, a former newspaper, had this article about New Paltz this weekend. (The net-zero commercial building is one of Papa Toad’s architecture projects.)
For your location in the Hudson Valley, that’s great to hear!
My town is running about 15:1 Trump to Biden signs and bumper stickers, but my county is apparently one of the most politically conservative counties in Texas.
I love it! Go, MamaToad!
My grandparents lived nearby, in Wallkill. I had some good times out on their farm.
