You Cannot Go There!

If anyone had any doubts about who are the people in charge of the Democrat party, the mainstream media and CNN in particular, have no doubt: Jill Biden is near the top of the list.

We saw a sad display of aggression, denial and control of the media when Jill Biden blocked any discussion of her husband’s gaffes. And Jake Tapper backed off with his tail between his legs when Ms. Biden shut him down.

The interview was just another display of the media’s allowing its members to be bullied by the Left and its surrogates, and the Left freely building roadblocks to the truth.

Discussing Joe Biden’s gaffes is more than an effort to ridicule him; his behavior has increasingly included gaps in memory, confusion and inconsistencies. Having his wife cover for him should be embarrassing for the Democrats and for Joe Biden himself, as they try to hide and protect the nominee from exposure.

I have news for them.

It’s too late.

Trump doesn’t need to point out Biden’s gaffes.  Slow Joe is perfectly capable of taking himself out.  My guess Biden will start off reasonably fast and strong, then quickly wither away and step in it as Trump remains strong and steady the entire time.

I hope you’re right, @stad. I’m concerned that this will be one of those rare times when Biden pulls it together. And I wouldn’t doubt his taking “medication.” Maybe they’ll even plant a bug in his brain so they can disguise their coaching!

Now I’d love to be the fly on the wall the first time that comes up! But hopefully, she’ll never have the chance.

She won’t directly start questioning it if Biden wins. But there will be leaks to the media from ‘anonymous’ sources about how much trouble Joe is having handling cabinet meetings and other responsibilities due to his declining mental condition, so that the questions about his competency will appear to come from Kamala-supportive media and other Democrats looking to ease Biden out of his job. But Jill will know who’s holding the knife, and Harris could end up as the most isolated VP since FDR’s Democratic Party handlers put the kibosh on a second term for Henry Wallace at the bottom of the ticket in 1944, knowing whoever was the No. 2 guy had a good chance of being president before the ’48 election.

@jon1979, Kamala has whatever happens coming to her. She has given others enough grief to last a lifetime.

Problem is in this case, time and Biden’s mental deterioration would be on her side. Jill can order the Secret Service to keep that woman out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for anything but the most ceremonial of events, but if Joe’s mental decline becomes harder and harder to ignore, she wins anyway, even if her naked ambition is there for the world to see if she and her backers are trying to hasten pushing Joe out the door.

Given that she is perpetually present, I wouldn’t doubt that she is already doing so.

Can you imagine the uproar if Melania (or any potential Republican FLOTUS) were out in front of the cameras as much as Jill is?

Personally I would love to see Melania more, but as you imply, I doubt she’d ever want to do that, given how cruel the press has been to her. It’s a sick world.

“I…don’t know. What…could he do? What would you tell him?”

    “To shrug.”

The thing that gets me is that there is no real means of fact-checking: Biden can say anything, as he always has, that is utterly false, but this time there is no Press around afterwards that is willing to contradict him.  The Press will, I’m sure, interrupt and contradict in real time Trump over actual facts, with their professional opinions and fact-checkers.  I’m afraid it will be Trump against the crowd.  Trump will have to show calm poise to come off well in the eyes of independents.

I don’t think Ricochetti are aware of how spectacularly effective is the screen of news about Biden.  Outside the sphere of Fox, Red State, etc, it is almost impossible to find replays and retweets of Bidenesques stupidity.  I would be willing to bet that a majority are unaware of “dog-faced pony soldier”, small black children stroking his leg hairs underwater, you know the thing and other inanities Ricochetti have all seen and heard.  If he remains coherent in the debate, his mental state will simply not be an issue for a lot of the voters who need to know that it is.

It is both annoying and very disturbing, @flicker. The press is supposed to investigate and make sure we are getting the truth. So we end up choosing those on our own side simply because there are few if any neutral voices. It’s criminal.

He and the media have been involved in a love-hate relationship — mostly hate in the past few years — since at least the Bonwit-Teller demolition kerfuffle (where Trump allegedly violated a court restraining order to tear down the Fifth Avenue department store to build Trump Tower) back in 1979. Forty-one years is a long time to develop pretty tough skin.

There was an interesting conversation on one of the three martini lunch podcasts last week, about what would happen if Biden wins, and then it becomes very obvious early in his term that he’s not up to the job.  Jim speculated (and I agree) that there would be a huge backlash against the Democrats generally for covering up his condition when they had to know.
