COGIC Defends Judge Barrett
The Church of God in Christ, a Pentecostal denomination whose membership is predominantly Black, released a statement (PDF) in support of Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Here is a key passage:
We must defend the rights of our fellow Christians, of people of other faiths and of
those who hold no faith. Today we stand with, and speak in defense of, Judge Amy Coney Barrett. As black Christians we will not stand by in silence as our sister in the faith is persecuted for the “political crime” of her beliefs. We do not know whether she will be nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court of the United States, for which she is by all reports under consideration. But we do know that attacks on her Christian beliefs and her membership in a charismatic Christian community reflect rank religious bigotry that has no legitimate place in our political debates or public life. We condemn these vile attacks—which began three years ago during the process of her confirmation for the judicial post she currently holds. As the descendants of slaves we are particularly sensitive to acts of discrimination and we demand an end to this reprehensible conduct.
This is a very good development, I think.

Hear! Hear!
Ah, but “They ain’t black.”
Amen.
It will be a good day for the USA, when the “white” churches and “black” churches start working together to make America better everyone.
This matters to the extent that black churches guide or free their members to vote by faith rather than skin color tied to the Democrat Party.
I suspect the only reason that statement (apparently) didn’t conclude with “Biden/Harris 2020” is because it might threaten their tax exemption.
I just saw that noted author Ibram X. Kendi (I didn’t “note” him; that’s for sure) has compared ACB and her husband to “White colonizers” for adopting two Black children from Haiti. Sigh, one step forward and three steps backward.
No shortage of nut cases coming out for the upcoming fight.
Evidently, they were supposed to leave the children in Haiti.
I wondered if he would sanction a bi-racial couple. Would the black spouse make the adoption alright? Or would the white spouse’s inherent racism disallow it.
I think, given the choice, they’d be happy to stay where they are.
Suppose it is a bi-racial couple, but neither of them are the race in question? Will that be equally objectionable? Suppose the partners in the bi-racial couple themselves bi-racial? How does that affect things?
Geeze. being a Progressive Racist is a lot of work. Maybe it would be simpler if they just fell back on “the content of their characters.” That would be the way I’d go.
The other option would be multi-variable socio-racial calculus. I’d be an A1B5X0, and my wife would be an M3Y7X4. And as you can well see that would never work out with a black child of either sex from a low-strata 3rd-world black country in the Western hemisphere.
Calculus? These jokers lost the thread back in trigonometry.
Yes, but I just use the app.
Howard Metzenbaum (D) must be spinning in his grave. Promoting interracial/interethnic adoption was a major element of his political career.
These days he probably couldn’t be elected as a Democrat. Not unless he became loony too, that is.
We are heading back to the “one drop rule”. It will become law if the democratic party wins.
Ah, the parking lot king of Cleveland! First time I’ve heard his name in a long time!
Proof again – if anyone needed it – that the left is racist.
On the other hand, Sen. Warren will be free to publish her traditional Cherokee Cold Omelets with Crab Meat recipe, because she is 1/1024 Native American.
Aren’t we all?
Pretty much by default. I think the average for Americans is 1/512. So she’s probably the whitest white person running around loose.
That of course makes her a racist, I don’t need to add. Ask Robin DiAngelo.
So I’m above average. Cool. Great-Grandma was Miami and an 18th/early 19th century male ancestor in my paternal grandmother’s line was Cherokee.
