Politics Is Destroying Your Soul
A friend shared this Huffington Post story with me this morning. Here is the opening paragraph:
I am a 40-something attorney and mother who lives in a quiet neighborhood with a yard and a garage full of scooters and soccer balls. I often walk with my children to get ice cream and spend weekends hiking through a national park. I am not the type of person who would normally consider becoming a Satanist, but these are not normal times.
This is, sadly, not the first time that someone has embraced evil to gain power over others. It is the plot of nearly every biblical and fantasy story. And here is the second paragraph:
Like so many other women in the United States, when I learned of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing, my first reaction was not grief but fear. I fear that American citizens are inching closer to living in a theocracy or dictatorship and that the checks meant to prevent this from happening are close to eroding beyond repair.
The self-delusion going on here would be impressive if it was not destroying her life and probably her family. She sees clearly the conservative theocracy that is always imminent but never arrives while being completely blind to the theocratic, dictatorial nature of progressivism. This is what the media does, they find someone that needs help, someone susceptible to manipulation, and parades them around for entertainment like some reality TV show. It is disgusting.
Abortion worshippers desperately want the argument against abortion to be solely theological so that they can dismiss it without engagement. The argument that life is sacred is, for some, a theological claim. For others, including atheists and agnostics, it is a virtue ethic. The argument that conception produces a living human organism is a biological observation. That is, the argument against abortion is based on, as they say, science.
Politics is soul-destroying, and if allowed it will consume every sphere of your life. So many people are looking for meaning and belonging in the wrong places. We all need help from time to time, that is nothing to be ashamed of, but do not look for it in politics or the media. For there you will find only rage, ruin, and decay.

Abortion is murder. Some how pro choice advocates don’t think that whether actually or to justify their position.
Rather than Satan she should go all in on a deity that demands child murder and go for Moloch.
They’ve accomplished what all mass murdering institutions have done, they have completely dehumanized their victims. For slave owners you justify all atrocities as being a property right. For the Nazis it was the idea of untermensch, that there were humans and a race of subhumans. For the abortionists it’s just a “choice” over a “clump of cells.”
Somebody should really explain to these people that overturnign Roe won’t make abortion illegal. It’ll just let the states regulate it.
The odds of California or New York (for examples) outlawing abortion are something less than zero.
She is no different than the black I know that are convinced that white Republicans want to put them back in chains and the only thing stopping them is Democrats.
I had to explain exactly that to a 40 year old lawyer the other day. I could see that she had not considered it! I further opined that if a state does indeed prohibit abortions, NY, and then California, would offer free abortion trips to their state. Or surely some Bloomberg non-profit.
Indeed.
The greater risk is that abortion in CA and NY would become mandatory.
I say that somewhat facetiously, but under some regimes, notably China, forced abortion became state policy for any second child, as a population control measure. And in the context of our own history, recall that Margaret Sanger’s intent in founding Planned Parenthood was to limit the growth in the black population.
Don’t think for a moment that it could not happen here.
Amen, brother Zach.
My poor sister (a leftie) called me in tears last week. My advice to her was to turn off MSNBC and watch the old Dick Van Dyke Show.
This!!!!!!!!!!!! So this!
Outlaw Roe and I bet they extend abortion to the 12th trimester.
She may think she means it only ironically, but if you throw yourself on that altar, no matter how much you disbelieve in it, it surely believes in you.
These fools have no idea what they are pursuing, save only that they hate what think is Christ.
Curious that she called you and not a lefty friend.
And yet:

Ruth Bader Ginsburg too: “Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”
When I read this quote this week, my jaw dropped! Seriously? She said this out loud?? And who exactly are these “populations that we don’t want to have too many of”? Unbelievable….
Think about if the infant survives and grows up knowing their mother tried to kill them. Talk about messed up.
I’m guessing it was because she had ONLY been talking to her lefty friends that she finally called me.
Lucifer informed me that Moloch is a world class jerk and hell his disassociated with him.
Maybe we can extend it to anyone in Congress serving a 3rd term or greater.
Melissa Ohden or Gianna Jessen aren’t though. They’ve led remarkable lives.
What’s frequently missed in all this hand-wringing is that if you give gov’t the levers of power or control over you, and your fate is literally hanging by one person’s up or down decision, you have clearly made a mistake in giving gov’t that power over you.
One wonders if the anxiety generated by the passing of RBG is in part the realization that, based on the gov’t model these folks seem to have asked for, good and hard, they’re now at the mercy of the machine.
Welcome to the machine, brothers and sisters. Enjoy.
This is why the left fought so hard to politicize sports. Going to the game and rooting for your team brought people from all walks of life together. Now we can’t even do that . . .
Yes. YES. But sadly it never quite seems to sink in.
Satanism? Is this chick for real?
It never fails to shock me when I find out that a woman with children is pro-choice.
That’s a perfect example of Liberal mentality. She sounds like a perfect moron. One just has to shake one’s head and chalk it up dim witted myopia.
Sheesh. I hadn’t thought of that. But you’re right. Starting with Down’s babies and moving up from there; cystic fibrosis, spina bifida, cerebral palsy. Too much of a burden, you know, for the state to take care of all of them. This is what state controlled health insurance, and then health care, means: first, paying for all medical care; then, deciding it’s too expensive for everyone so only the deserving get it.
I’ve tried, on a retail level. I just get blank looks.
When I first read that article, I looked for some indication it was parody. I couldn’t find any, but I’m still hoping.
It’s always tempting to assume the worst interpretation when talking about one’s ideological opponents. But there are plenty of pro-life conservatives who will also say that there are certain populations that we wish had fewer babies. I don’t want unemployed high school dropouts with no husbands having a bunch of babies. I don’t want those pregnancies terminated, of course, but don’t we all wish that these girls would avoid getting pregnant in the first place? The difference between Ginsburg supporters and opponents is that we don’t see abortion as just another method of birth control.
