The Nagging Never Ends
We’ve been told that we shouldn’t use plastic bags or plastic straws. Some people say that we should wear masks everywhere. Politicians who own three mansions preach that we use too much energy. Today, alas, I came across this on the ground outside of a bank two blocks from my apartment in Dallas.
The nagging never ends.
During the rather severe drought in northern California in the late ’70s we would sometimes say, “If it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down.”
I can’t attribute that to Jerry Brown, although it seems like something he would say.
The products of combustion are CO2 and H2O, so our industrial civilization has resulted in Earth bearing MORE water than 2 billion years BC.
When my daughter was young, I used to tease her that some of the water in her glass today was dinosaur urine a million years ago. Recycling!
In my defense, I added that to emphasize to readers how thoroughly pointless it is to turn the water off for a couple of minutes.
I’m still hung up on the graffiti aspect of this.
Can I spray-paint, or even spray-chalk “Tiny Change: abortion kills innocent tiny human beings” on the sidewalk?
Or maybe the more exact equivalent would be: “Tiny Change, Abortion Kills Tiny Human Beings” followed by the website for my diaper-cream company?
In other words, isn’t this just advertising masquerading as conscience-prodding?”
“Abortion Changes Tiny Surplus Human Beings Into Useful Lab Specimens and BioFuels” PlannedParenthood.Org
Please do! The faces of the PP escorts while my children chalked happy messages of love and affirmation on the sidewalk outside the PP clinic on abortion days are among my favorite memories.
This is the same development company that chopped down most of the mature trees at Casa Linda plaza to expand the parking lot. That doesn’t seem very “green” to me
Heck, sometimes trees get cut down because cities are afraid someone will drive into them and then sue.
Sorry, I checked their website and you misunderstand. EDENS “has embraced the historical significance of Casa Linda Plaza, a mainstay in East Dallas since 1945.The redevelopment work will reinforce the property as the central gathering place for the neighborhood by enhancing the outdoor space and by bringing new retail and restaurants to renew Casa Linda for future decades.”
“Chopped down the trees” makes it sound so bad.
C’mon, man. Get with the program.
Wait, what’s this? I guess some locals haven’t gotten with the program yet either…
Who ya gonna believe, the sidewalk or your lyin’ eyes?
