What a Lazy Morning
I got up this morning at 0758, which is later than usual. The reason was the pouring rain and darkness outside (thank you, Sally). The sound of rain hitting the roof and lack of light contributed to my laziness. When I finally made it downstairs, @neutralobserver was in the recliner reading instead of her usual spot at the computer. Then I looked out one of the front windows:
Yep, the rain finally stopped and it’s getting lighter by the minute as I post this. Still, it was one of those mornings where you just don’t feel like doing anything. However, the morning has set the tone for the rest of the day. You can plan your days like this when you’re retired . . .

Our well bottomed out last night and needed a couple of hours to fill up again… we could use some of that rain, but there’s a lot of places in the country who need it even more than we do…
Enjoy the day… I’ve got a pot of chili simmering on the stove, it would be perfect for a rainy afternoon…
I got up at 4:59 PM yesterday from a short nap. Haven’t been back to sleep since.
Stad my aunt said that the best thing about being retired was that if you didn’t want to get up or get going in the morning, you didn’t have to. Enjoy the day.
Chili sounds like a fabulous idea! However, it’s a lazy day now, so I’ll open a couple of cans . . .
Your aunt was right. However, I make it a point to get up in order to verify I’m still alive . . .
Yep, same here. Lights have blinked occasionally so we pushed hard to get the grandkids’ online homework done, fearing we would lose electricity. I am surprised at how little wind we have had.
Nobody believes that you plan your days.
It has stopped raining in the Upstate of SC. Still pretty dreary though.
As far as the laziness meter goes, my Fitbit has registered 176 steps. It’s 1:35 in the afternoon.
May we please have some of your rain? Yep, that’s someone in Western Washington pleading for rain! Smoke is still pretty bad here, and we are urged not to go outside unless absolutely necessary.
My retirement since we got home from South Dakota has been filled with financial planning and manipulation, worry about finances, and dentists (I just got home from a 2-hour appointment). Tomorrow, I go to the clinic to get a routine blood draw. I have been working out on my home rowing machine daily, since I can’t do much outside.
Oh Happy Day! I retired 5 years ago and I’m not tired of it yet. I can get up when I want to, not when I have to. I can be busy or not, whatever I decide. I got a housecleaner last year when I was ill and we decided to keep her. All I could say was “where have you been all my life?” So I have even more leisure time. Love, love, love it!
And chili sounds good even though we’re still having 100 degree + weather.
We haven’t had rain here in about six months. I miss rain.
It was so so good… we made biscuits too, and ate in a hurry because we had to go out to help out at movie night at our local library. They showed The Pursuit of Happyness in the parking lot and we helped sell popcorn and water. When we got home we were all chilled from being outside for hours, so we all had another cup before bed.
And I made enough that I’ll get another meal out of it… yummmm… it only gets better as the days pass…
love that song…
One reason I don’t think I could move to a desert clime like southern California, eastern Oregon, etc. My mom loved the four seasons of Virginia when we moved here – especially autumn and the trees turning color.
According to yesterday’s evening news, where I live got 6.28 inches of rain yesterday. I was driving in a bunch of it, thanks to a visit to a client. ):
