Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. Who are the Antifa Secret Six?

In 1859, John Brown raided Harper’s Ferry. He had six prominent supporters:

Thomas Higginson

Samuel Howe (his wife Julia Ward wrote “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”).

Theodore Parker

Franklin Sanborn

Gerrit Smith

George Stearns

I wonder who the supporter of Antifa are. Their support is probably more indirect than was the case with the Secret Six. They probably give money to foundation A, which gives money to foundation B… which in turn supports Antifa. But a large amount of money appears to be supporting these far from random attacks. And it’s critical that we attack both ends of the spectrum. Antifa rioters should no longer be immediately released with little or no bail money after being arrested. The radical prosecutors who allow this and the people like Kamala Harris who support this must be shamed. On the other end, the people or groups supporting the planning and financing of the rioters must be prosecuted. I hope that AG Barr is working on this; the safety of our citizens and the integrity of this election depend on this.

I suspect Barr is tracking that right now.

About the Civil War’s Secret Six.

Higginson led the 1st South Carolina Volunteer Regiment (Colored) during the American Civil War.

Howe fought in the Greek Revolution of 1821, and served as head of the Sanitary Commission during the Civil War.

Stearns served in the Union Army as an officer, recruiting for the 54th Massachusetts, 55th Massachusetts, and 5th Cavalry

Parker died before the Civil War began.

Smith and Sanborn did not participate, serving cheerleading roles.

Andy Ngo describes Antifa as anarchocommunist. In the US a larger anarchist component than in Europe, where it’s mostly Communist. BLM is an offshoot of the Revolutionary Communist Party; I’ve seen the assertion that the RevComs are significant in US Antifa.

And it’s critical that we attack both ends of the spectrum. Antifa rioters should no longer be immediately released with little or no bail money after being arrested. The radical prosecutors who allow this and the people like Kamala Harris who support this must be shamed.

Antifa is now a designated terrorist organization, so some investigation is possible though it isn’t an organization.

BLM uses mainstream Democrat funding operations, and the commission the operations take is in part used to support selected causes.

    Harris is shameless.

I don’t like comparing John Brown to Antifa. He remains a romantic figure (albeit crazed) to me. I was just explaining him to my 7 year old (there are allusions to him in L.I. Wilder’s Little House books) and there’s such an impassioned rebel thing, and we listened the song and everything. Still gets me (is it because I was a lefty?)

2nd, I recently read a gorgeous bio of Julia Ward Howe, and gave it to my mom for her birthday. She married a total jerk and then really came into her own in her 60s, travelling all around the world and doing all kinds of interesting stuff.

Growing up in Kansas I don’t remember much about John Brown being taught but remember seeing Tragic Prelude on multiple trips to the state Capitol. I recently read a book, I think it was Midnight Rising, that did a good job with John Brown. He thought slavery was wrong and had plans, even if they weren’t achievable, to end slavery. The Antifa crowd appears to just want to destroy everything with no real end goal.

It is stunning how much money flows into leftist activities. The groups who gobble up most of the BLM cash cow income are incredibly flush. (The SPLC keeps almost $200 million in offshore accounts!) The bail fund that coughs up hundreds of thousands for very bad people to get back on the street like its pocket change… the hideously expensive blue-chip law firms on retainer for lawfare campaigns…

On the bright side, it makes me doubt the competence of the enemy. There could be far more effective uses of billions of dollars.

Kind of reminds one of Hillary’s campaign — flush with cash, but not the results they were looking for.

I tossed a lot of information about BLM into a post I made on August 16th. I had found the actual 2015 interview of BLM founders, where they openly admit to having been students of Marxism. The video is included in the mix: https://ricochet.com/793410/blm-leader-freely-admits-the-movement-is-communist-driven/
