Even Softballs Are Tough for Sleepy Joe to Hit
Watching Joe Biden’s presser the other day, I was interested when he was asked a question about school reopening, and what his plan was to keep students safe and allow parents to get back to work.
Millions of parents, across the country, are facing the very impossible task of trying to work full time and help their children full time to learn virtually. What is your message to these parents, and what can you do to help them while you work to reopen schools?
Biden brightened up, and jumped right in, giving a lengthy and convoluted answer. Unfortunately, at no time did he answer the question or mention schools or reopening. Instead, he explained how he would spend and spend and spend more money in his desire to extend childcare and eldercare credits to people responsible for the care of children five years old and younger and for the care of older people.
It was pretty weird because the question should have been an easy one, for which he was well prepared (of course his team wants him to slam the president over school reopening, because so many Democrats are in a serious tizzy over it, scared as they are of the pandemic and desirous to abase themselves in any way government requires). Instead, he wanders for several long minutes about daycare and childcare centers, never addressing the school question at all. After nearly three minutes, he begins a new tangent.
But, you know, one thing I haven’t mentioned, and I think it warrants mentioning, you know, one of the things we did, remember, what was it, when we inherited the Great Recession, and we were going in a tank, headin’ off a cliff, for a depression, I was able to convince three Republicans to change their vote and we ended up with the so-called Recovery Act, which spent over $800 billion in 18 months. It kept us from going into a depression. But what’d we do? We spent almost — we spent billions of dollars making sure that states were able to maintain their essential workers. Everyone from the fire department, through school teachers, their doctors, their nurses, their public hospitals. Now what’s happening? This Republican administration will not support that, and the Republican leadership in the United States Senate will not support it. What’s happening? We don’t have that help. It’s not out there. And states are in big trouble. And to quote my good friend Mitch McConnell, he says, Let the states go bankrupt. States have to balance their budget under the law. communities, counties, cities, they have to balance their budget. There’s a reason why the federal government is able to run a deficit — to compensate in times of real economic crisis. And what’s happening? Nothing. Nothing. And guess what? We came out of that recession, with the, with the longest spurt of economic growth of any administration in American history. But this guy’s don..it’s… I could go on! Businesses. Look at the money that was passed under the Cares Act, for businesses. Small businesses, have been able to stay open. You had tens of thousands of them going out of business, some of them permanently. Why? Because the money didn’t get to small businesses. They’re not, they’re not open. We should be dealing with those businesses that have been burnt out, and damaged. We should be providing federal help for those businesses, to get back on their feet. But this, this administration seems to think it’s all gonna go away, like angel dust is gonna be sprayed around and everything’s gonna be okay!
I just don’t get it.
They have to know better. They have to know better. And we had an example, just the last administration, of how much good you can do and how much growth you can generate.
So. In order to reassure parents worried about schools not being open, Joe Biden tells them that he’d really like to spend a lot of money, like really a lot.
You can practically hear the sounds of Biden staffers smacking their foreheads in dismay as he flubs this completely.
When Joe Biden tells you he just doesn’t get it, he’s not joking around.
The question starts in the video at around 22:41.

Slowest economic “recovery” evah. Obama had his boot on the neck of businesses with regulation and “healthcare.” His friends at Solyndra did alright, though. For a while.
Joe is a liar, and the first person he lies to every morning is himself.
It’s likely that entire discussion with the press was constructed around softballs.
This may be the most bizarre question from the “press” I’ve ever heard:
It will surprise no one that the person who asked that is employed by The Atlantic.
The Corporate Media has demonstrated via the Russia Hoax that they are willing to push a false narrative hard for months at a time. I don’t think this is sustainable, because it plays against type, but I have no doubt that the media that will latch on to some hoax and push it for months. I expect that we’ll have a barrage of articles based on anonymous sources saying that Trump was mean to several PoC that work for him. We might even have some Democrat AG filed investigations announced on some complaints by renters of Trump properties.
I don’t think the answer is any different from what he might have said in 1988. Government is always the answer. The difference is the feeble delivery. The feebleness of the policy response from the left, is nearly always covered by showing the candidate as a man of action, someone who will do something. That something is usually protect the status quo, at a fundamental level, made to look shiny and new via diversity. Not real diversity, but (superficial) change for its own sake.
Joe the tough guy, as the man of action, clearly isn’t going to work. FDR, despite his actual disability, could pull it off through his voice and intelligence (with a little help from the press), Old Slow Joe, can’t rely on his supporters to make this go away.
Tee ball. If they placed the questions on tees, Joe could hit 8/10 of them.
At least 6/10.
You are a generous soul.
Allow me to also point out the beauty of the reporter asking about the “very impossible task” parents face. The qualifier for “impossible” is the part I really love.
I have such a reservoir of despite for Joe Biden that I’m enjoying every public appearance he makes. Now that he’s held on past the convention and ruined my betting strategy, I’m waiting for the debate. Which moderator is first? I hope it’s Wallace, because he’s evil and intelligent. And nobody will give me a betting line on the second debate for some reason.
Here‘s the debate schedule. Chris Wallace is the first moderator. Then Susan Page of USA Today, Steve Scully of C-Span, and finally Kristen Welker of NBC News.
Can’t. Wait.
No one said the press were geniuses, or even that they were more than semi-educated.
News Flash, AntiFa and other assorted Lefties: When the Media is behind you, you are not “The Resistance.” Idiots.
This is from Joe’s remarks in Kenosha. Help me understand. It sure sounds like Joe is advocating School Choice here. I realize that’s impossible because the teachers’ unions would put him on a rotisserie and barbecue him…but still…either I’m confused or Joe is:
Why would you want to put a three-year-old in school?
Indoctrinate ’em early… Sick…
Another damn lie. At least in Colorado the tax funds are pooled and get distributed equally among schools based on student population, not neighborhood property values/taxes. Pretty sure it works that way in most places now. School funding hasn’t been dependent on zip code in ages. Joe Biden might remember it that way, if he had any memory, but he’s just spouting off the “systemic racism” lie.
Here in Washington, I believe there is a state school-funding allocation based on the particular district’s student enrollment, so that is pretty much equalized around the state. But then there are 295 local school districts, whose voters often are asked to approve “special” property tax levies to raise additional school money. Most often these measures are approved by voters in the district. When levies do fail, the vote often reflects local sentiment against the district administration’s performance. To that degree, the economic makeup of the various districts’ locality can definitely result in different levels of support from district to district.
Are Democrats really afraid of the pandemic? I’m sure many are, probably most, but the DNC? I think they are working hard to keep it going. Lots of people will vote for Biden thinking that somehow he will end it. Meanwhile Pelosi and other Dems flit around looking pretty fearless.
Joe’s braintrust believe that somehow blaming Trump on the successive months of violence perpetrated by Leftist anarchist groups in Democrat-controlled cities while attacking Trump on the pandemic is a winning strategy. It’s actually quite easy for Trump and his campaign to lay out all the specific measures they took to mitigate the spread of the virus; while Democrat governors like Andrew Cuomorbidity™ didn’t bother to use the resources that the Trump administration provided and instead sent COVID-infected patients into nursing homes to kill thousands of elderly New Yorkers. The hurdle, of course, is getting that message through the Main Stream Media Iron Curtain.
Beautiful.
More senility from Slo Joe
Because school = day care.
The end goal of progressives is to put all children in year-round school/daycare in order to “liberate” women and single parents from the “burden” of caring for their own children.
Do any politicians answer the question they are asked? It’s a rare one who will. Rambling disquisitions that make the interviewer and the audience forget the question are SOP.
Also, I really think Republicans are overdoing the Biden-is-senile thing. If he can stand up and talk, he’ll have a debate win. And he’ll have everyone in the room helping him. Let’s stop lowering expectations for him.
Yes, that’s more like it. Dissolving the family. Being raised by the State.
It’s amazing that this career loser actually has a chance of beating Trump in November. Really says something about how far our culture has fallen.
Oh he does not.
I agree on the expectations, but Biden is senile and knows nothing of what he says. The real candidates are BLM and the rioters…..oops mostly peaceful rioters.
A vote for Biden is a vote for Harris.
A vote for Harris is a vote for Soros.
