Portland At Around Day 96

The Oregon State Troopers are coming back to Portland. They were deputized by US Marshalls when they were here about two or so weeks ago. If they are assaulted by the mob, the Feds will prosecute those arrested for assaulting a trooper because they are federal officers, as well as state officers.

Governor Kate Brown wanted other state law enforcement officers to reinforce the Portland Police Bureau. So far every agency has refused, citing the Multnomah County DA’s refusal to prosecute those arrested for interfering with a police officer. The word is out that this DA may be more interested in prosecuting police officers, rather than rioters.

Mayor Ted Wheeler has evicted himself from his condo citing his neighbors’ concerns about their safety. This is a pretty good indication that he has no empathy for the businesses that have been destroyed. A man who will let the mob dictate where he will live can hardly be expected to support those who would like to stay in their homes or to protect their businesses.

Medics for the mob were denied special status by a judge. They have to obey the order to leave when the police declare an unlawful assembly. The same order applies to the media, although the media is appealing that decision. There are many people that have placed media stickers on their helmets, and a red cross. Hundred of medics, and new journalists, leaving about ten rioters.

The city council is no longer blaming undercover cops for setting fires on the streets of Portland.

    Another Portland outrage.

And I’m not sure “outrage” even covers it.  Let’s go with blood on their hands.

Looks like the media might need to obtain a credential from the police so the police can know they are valid. There must be a way to do this electronically with an update every day to avoid counterfeiting.

The residents of Multnomah County, and anyone else outside Multnomah County can expect more of this when things calm down. The new DA is not crime victim friendly.

They voted this guy into office, and they will vote more just like him into office.

These people are getting what they voted for.

I don’t think the Feds should help, unless it helps get Trump reelected. Otherwise, I’d be happy to let them burn in their own failed city.

The county DA get the second bite of the apple after the Feds.

I live in Portland and the voters are insane.  I know enough of them to feel the city is lost until enough people wake up.  That doesn’t seem to have happened yet.  The leftists have no sympathy for those who are victims of the riots.  To them, its a good cause and some just have to suffer for “justice.”  Its insane.  In the meantime, the riots are in my neighborhood just 6 blocks from my home.  I truly fear what would happen if I was outed as someone supporting Trump.  (Yes, I have a gun now and have learned how to use it.)

Sorry to hear you have to suffer because of your insane neighbors.

The FBI should be ordered to investigate these municipal officials the way the Dixiecrats were investigated back in the 60s for violating peoples civil rights.  I see no difference between the actions of these official then and now.

Federal judges, I assume, opened that can of worms long ago. I hate that clauses of the 1st Amendment were separated as if independent, thus awarding journalists special rights. Any conditional allowances for investigation and reporting should regard the necessary actions and not which citizen is performing them.

A consistent pattern of looking the other way when the Klan targeted innocent people.

I sympathize. Let them fail until we bottom out, then their failure itself will fix them. Boy, will they be sorry.

It never works that way. Every brick they pull down is one we’ll have to replace, and every brick they throw is a click of the ratchet. We’re going to have to do the hard work, and putting it off means only that the work keeps piling up.

I love my home state and I love my home city. I hate watching everything that’s happening, but the city and the majority of its constituents have given the riots their approval. I still know several in the greater Portland Metro Area who think all this is just fine and people claiming it’s awful are just exaggerating or outright lying.

It’s going to have to get a lot worse before people consider that it needn’t be so bad there.

My Oregonian mother, grandfather, and my aunts and uncles and cousins were all Portlanders in years past. Then, in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s it was a jewel of a city, a good American city, if I may say, calm and quiet, and someplace I always liked going to. Portlanders were (dare I say it?) really nice, and liberal in a kind of live-and-let-live way. I don’t know how it came to be so crazy. This foolishness breaks my heart and makes me angry.
