Lien Forward: Rev. Al Sharpton Owes $3.5 Million in Taxes

According to the New York Post, Rev. Al Sharpton owes $2.6 million in federal taxes and $.9 million in state taxes.  The enterprises that he runs, including the non-profit National Action Network, owe millions more.    His income from NAN is $242,000.  If you add his income from MSNBC, I’m sure it puts him into the top 1% of income earners.  The hypocrisy is astounding.  Will we hear any comments on this from the supporters of Occupy Wall Street, including the other primetime MSNBC hosts?

It’s refreshing to find someone who practices, in private, the same gross irresponsibility that they recommend in the public sphere.

Apparently the liberal tax-and-spend scam only works insofar as conservatives (workers, owners, and entrepreneurs) actually pay their taxes.

Guys like Sharpton and Geithner are given a pass because of the invaluable work they do serving the “general will.”

Apparently he behaves the same way as Leona Helmsley and the other “one percenter’s” “We don’t pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes…”

I read about this in the news section of NR awhile back and I liked their line: apparently he likes to cash checks rather than write them.

Odd how left leaning 1% ers are so generous with their declarations for higher taxes. Al is just a dandy and somehow I expect he’ll get better treatment than id the Koch brothers were delinquent.

See, the deal here is that Sharpton and Friends view then annual national levy as a productivity tax… Which they would be happy to pay if they made any….

    That is brilliant, Pat.

The most shocking part of this is how much it doesn’t shock me. The left would get miles of print out of this if it was a right leaning activist. It’s almost expected now that people on the left will cheat the system any chance they get.

Thanks for posting this. As Tim says, it is astounding. How do these pious hypocrites like the Rev sleep at night? How does the media let this pass? All people of every socioeconomic status need to pay attention to this and listen to what this man and his ilk accuse others of – and then what they do themselves. My pen name is meant to remind me of what to say to liberals if their policies are adopted – get ready to meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I was on a business trip to New York when the Tawna Brawley case made the news and “Reverend Al” first made his nationwide appearance on the news. Every day, more facts surfaced and indicated that she was testifying falsely. The fact that he wasn’t denigrated at the time as a lying, race-baiting scoundrel is a testament to the power of multiculturalism in our society and to the absence of a truth seeking press.

I don’t begrudge anyone making a living, but when you do it on the backs of the poor, and don’t pay the taxes that are providing their entitlements, it makes it hard for me for believe you’re sincere. My question is: where are the Conservative reporters? Why aren’t the Conservative think tanks devoting some portion of their expenditures to Conservative investigative reporters who expose people like Al Sharpton?

Yes, it really is. Just astounding. I know that whining about the leftist media can get tiresome, but as I always say when talking to my husband about such matters, “if we had an honest media.…” things would really be much different. How can our nation survive when there are two sets of rules — one for the Left’s buddies, and one for their enemies?

Slightly off-topic, but has Sharpton had ‘work’ done? In that photo, he looks weird.
