Joe Can’t Do That

President TrumpOn Tuesday, President Trump flew from the White House, where he celebrated women’s right to vote and their participation in our nation’s politics. He flew to Yuma, Arizona to celebrate the men and women securing our border. He was drawing eyes to the border to show he was using every bit of presidential authority to fulfill his campaign promises, despite the worst efforts of the Congressional Democrats and Republican’ts. He flew into 120-degree heat and spoke outdoors, pointing out that Joe Biden was likely incapable of doing so.

Remarks by President Trump During Border Wall Construction and Operational Update | Yuma, AZ

THE PRESIDENT: Hello, everybody. We’re here to celebrate a very big achievement. And it’s Yuma, and it’s hot. (Inaudible) a little hot out there. I’m supposed to speak for 45 minutes. It’s about 120 degrees. Do you think Joe Biden could do that? I don’t think so. (Laughter.) I have a feeling he couldn’t do it.

So we’re really, sort of, celebrating a lot of things. The incredible people right over there have done such an incredible job. (Applause.) That’s first and foremost.

And I will say this: You’re setting records at the border. You’ve been unbelievable, and I know the wall is helping. You know, in two weeks, we will have hit 300 miles of wall. And this is a small version of it because, actually, the real deal goes up 30 feet. This is much smaller than that. But this is a small version of it. This is what the finish will be.

Those are anti-climb plates at top, so that makes it much more difficult when you get to the top — because you see these guys climbing up with drugs on their back, and when you see that, it’s actually — they look at the wall and they say, “Let’s pass. Let’s take a pass on it.” So it’s a — it’s been a really incredible success.

So, within two weeks, we’ll be in 300 — General, I think — in 300 miles.

LIEUTENANT GENERAL SEMONITE: Sir, we’re actually going faster than that. We’d like to think we can get to 300 by the end of this week.

THE PRESIDENT: That’s fan- — wow.

LIEUTENANT GENERAL SEMONITE: Yes, sir.

THE PRESIDENT: And we’re doing about how many a week? About 10 miles a week?

LIEUTENANT GENERAL SEMONITE: Over 10 miles a week; over 2 miles a day.

THE PRESIDENT: That’s fantastic. That’s fantastic. So, it’s a great — it’s a great feeling to have closed up the border. Now people come in if they come in through merit, if they come in legally — but they don’t come in like they used to. And human trafficking is — I think we’re down 96 percent or something. It’s been incredible.

These are the things the President needs to talk about, rather than obsessing about irrelevant things. Good on him!

It doesn’t need to be much, but he includes people in his praise.

I really like the entirety of this exchange.

He acknowledges the workers building, he includes the American people in the effort (“we have”) and he shows amazement at better than expected results, building pride in the workers who have accomplished that.

    I love it.

I don’t get why people don’t see this side of him. He has a natural affability.

It’s amazing what you don’t see when you aren’t looking for it.

I went looking for a list of Donald Trump’s accomplishments as president to use for persuasion.  The trouble is that the list the campaign produces is too long!  No one is going to read all that.  Give me 5 of the best with the rest attached on additional pages (which no one will actually read).

    He’s a people-person. Truly.

A friend of mine had a first-hand account of a Ukrainian adoptee who was raised in Ohio, joined the military, and spent a summer interning in Trump’s White House. The kid talked about being included in conversation where President Trump would ask his opinion and knew him by his first name. My friend asked if, twenty years down the road, he ran into former President Trump, did he think he would remember his name. The kid replied, “absolutely!”

People who don’t see this about the President are getting too much of their view of the man from left-wing narrative, imo.
