Beat ‘Em While They’re Down
New Yorkers have possibly suffered more pain and loss than any city in the country with the crisis of COVID-19. Although the situation has improved, the remaining fears and questions perpetuate the emotional impact of the virus. But there are those who choose to make sure that New Yorkers and Americans are beaten down even more before they can begin their recovery.
The 9/11 Memorial and Museum has decided to cancel the “Tribute in Lights” conducted to remember and honor those who died on 9/11 in the Twin Towers, their families, and those who were present that day. Their excuse was that they had health and safety concerns:
Due to impacts of COVID-19, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and Michael Ahern Production Services (MAPS) made the very difficult decision to not move forward with Tribute in Light this year. This year’s cancellation stems from health and safety concerns and underscores the far-reaching consequences of the global health crisis. As the pandemic continues to surge throughout the country, it was necessary to consider the health and safety of the nearly 40 stagehands who work in close proximity to produce Tribute in Light. For multiple weeks in August and September, crew members work hours-long shifts at Battery Parking Garage to prepare for the production on the night of September 11. The facilities and the complex installation which requires stagehands to work closely together do not align with recommended COVID-19 health and safety precautions.
Governor Cuomo has even announced that New York conditions have improved sufficiently to allow many facilities to re-open on a limited basis.
I simply don’t believe the excuse the Memorial board has given. First, I question the number of people needed for weeks on end to set up the spotlights; I suspect this process is overburdened by union and other excessive requirements. Second, I think there are some who want to intensify the suffering of the people of New York as a way to create even more emotional debilitation; it will add to the depression and hopelessness that is already at a record high.
But I think there are political motives involved as well. There are those on the Left who want to create the perception that the country is in a disastrous state: they know that the lights will not only lift spirits, but they will inspire a patriotic energy that will bring people together. They also don’t want to do anything that might generate anti-Muslim feelings.
Whatever the cost, I hope that the 9/11 Memorial and Museum transcends its destructive decision and helps New Yorkers continue their healing process.

I’m sorry. My camera is out of order on account of a little patch of electrical tape that got stuck over the lens.
How dare they.
Lots of people talk about this as if it’s an event in public, but isn’t it a zoom meeting? What “convention?”
Maybe we could talk some antifa into becoming suicide bombers. Talk about killing two birds with one stone . . .
It’ll be glorious. Kamala-kazi will break upon them like a divine wind.
The left already cheapened the memorial when they changed the lights pink to celebrate the new abortion laws in NY.
Did you mean what I think this means?
The “Tribute in Light” 9/11 memorial will happen after all.
This week, New York City said the tribute to the victims who died Sept. 11, 2001, would be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But on Saturday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state will provide the support needed for the art installation.
“NYS will provide health personnel & supervision so that @Sept11Memorial can mount the Tribute in Light safely,” Cuomo announced on Twitter. “I am glad that we can continue this powerful tribute to those we lost on 9/11 and to the heroism of all New Yorkers. We will #NeverForget.”
He said that former Mayor Mike Bloomberg would provide support for the memorial.
…and not a word about the current Moron of New York.
Whether they’re under one roof or just virtual, I can’t see how Joe gets thru the … event … without embarrassing the whole Party. Unless, of course, he steps aside.
Not sure. What do you think I meant?
I should have taken more care with the material. It would have been better with a bit of setup about the kamikazi. The humor would have more penetrating, silently wafting its deadly … hey, did you see the interview where they herded all the journosheep out while Joe was still working on his macaroni project? What was that about? And the look on KK’s face. It was almost as if Joe had filled his pants.
Yes, you meant it. Very good. And no, I didn’t see that. Do you have a clip?

If you’ll recall, the Biden people locked a reporter from the Orlando Sentinel in a closet while Joe was vice-president, because they didn’t want him seeing or hearing anything except for the prepared remarks by him and then-Florida Sen. Bill Nelson. The media’s outrage meter registered about a 1.2 on the Richter scale over that, which is roughly what Day 3 of being shoved out of the room so they couldn’t interview Biden or Harris got, and what we’re likely to see as long as t the polls don’t start going south on the Democrats.
The might be a little irked if Kamala is put in a bubble. But a lot of the media really don’t want Biden out in an unscripted environment, because they’re as afraid as his handlers are of what he might say to the public.
