On Wednesday,
This. Is. Awesome.
Yes, it is. But what are the odds that it won’t make the evening news?
UAE normalizing relations with Israel is perhaps the biggest diplomatic news since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. This could be a game-changer for the region.
Credit to Kushner for leading this effort (even more impressive since he’s Jewish) and more to Trump for a) trusting Jared, and b) putting in place the building blocks of energy independence to help the Emirates see that the real threat to regional stability is the Persian crazies in Iran.
The thing that struck me most about the Israeli-UAE deal was how it was apparently kept secret – no Vindemans rushed to Shiff to spill the beans . . .
It didn’t make headlines of the morning papers. Journalism is dead. This is huge!
No phone calls were leaked before the phone was even hung up. Is Trump getting the hang of Washington D.C.? Has he tightened up the West Wing so that he can operate with a secure staff? Will he be able to use all that he has learned over the past four years to really break out and achieve greatness over the next four years? G-D please let it be so!
I suspect that we will see more countries sign on in the coming months. My guess Saudi Arabia comes in as a nice October surprise for the President.
I think Mnuchin has really taken control of the Staff and brought the discipline that is needed. Because he thinks that its his job to do what the president wants, because the President was elected to do his policies. As opposed to others who were not elected, who thought it was their job to protect the electorate from the Presidents policies.
Next they’ll tell us cats and dogs, are sleeping together peacefully. And that cops love hippies!
Instead:
Insert my standard media complaint here.
Insert my standard “If the Democrats did this, it would be a national holiday” complaint here.
Pretty good news all around. Would love to see these types of dominoes fall, in the middle east, meaning relations normalizing (or more normalizing) with Israel that were deemed impossible for decades.
Anything that isolates Iran is an unalloyed good.
Anything that isolates the Khomenist regime is an unalloyed good. Notice that President Trump and his officers are fairly careful to distinguish, as they are fairly careful about “China” versus Chinese leaders, whether directly referenced or not.
