What Should We Call Kamala Harris?

A short time ago, anticipating that Kamala Harris might be Joe Biden’s vice-presidential pick, the Associated Press altered their stylebook, to rule out refering to her as Willie Brown’s onetime “mistress.” We are now to call her his “companion.”

I like that. In ancient Greek, the feminine version of the word for companion is hetaira. It is — how shall I say? — a euphemism; and like many another euphemism the connotation eventually replaced the denotation and the word came to mean “whore.” In time, the truth will come out.

Someone should interview Willie Brown’s wife. Her comments on Ms. Harris would make interesting reading.

I’m skeptical about how useful as a campaign tactic it is to emphasize that Ms. Harris got her significant first step on the political ladder by being mistress to Willie Brown. I doubt that many people younger than me (I’m 64) are aware of how massively powerful Mr. Brown was at the peak of his political career, and thus what a major coup it was for Ms. Harris to land the job of being his mistress. To people who don’t really know what Mr. Brown was, their affair looks just like hundreds of other politician affairs to which the public has become all too comfortable.

Who didn’t elect you to dictate what they can and can’t say.

    Onlc,

Gary is Emperor of the Republican Party. If the foolish Republican primary voters “did the wrong thing”, Gary has no intention of allowing them to get away with it. No matter how corrupt the Dems, no matter how insane their policy desires, Gary will purge this nation of its evil Trumpism by destroying the Republican Party and electing the hideous Democrats.

I know it makes no sense but Gary is sure it is the right thing to do.

    Regards,

    Jim

Absolutely. Republican voters have proven themselves to be unworthy of the Party; the Party must select a new people.

correct. most of our young people don’t have the world view that holds that kind of behavior as a strike against. End justify means. to many people, and not just young people.

And what should we call Trump’s “kept woman“ Playboy Playmate Karen McDougall?

While Trump was married to Martha Maples, Melanie had a naked photo shot on Trump’s plane. Melanie is now “First Lady.”

    1. Who cares?
    2. I think you mean Melania.

If our candidate were a Mike Pence, or any of the other remaining 16 from 2016, we might have an argument. But we selected Trump in 2016 and have him warts and all.

The point, Gary, is that Melania is not the president. And she’s not the vice president.

As a woman, I have to say, it doesn’t thrill me that we’re supposed to be thrilled that the Individual With A Cervix has ascended to high office by ….sleeping with the right (wrong) guy. First Hillary (long-suffering, frequently-betrayed) wife of Bill. And now Kamala, who got doinked by Willie Brown. Won’t this be inspiring to little girls? “This is how you get to the White House, Sweeties! You hook up with a powerful man, and then hope he kicks the bucket in time for you to take over!”

This is the exact reason I would not vote for Hilary Clinton in 2016. What an abhorrent message to send to young women.

Today when Ken Matthews was filling in on Rush’s program, Ken said Kamala can be a real pit bull as a fighter. I think he just stepped in it.

Given the marital fidelity issues on both sides, it would be a mistake for the Trump campaign to focus on Kamala Harris’s dalliance with Willie Brown.

I’m not so sure.  Trump did it for sex, but Harris did it for political gain.

Plus, Trump had already been in the public eye for decades and all of this was known. Harris is new on the national scene. Nobody knows who she is outside of her brief primary run, where none of her personal foibles were brought up. There’s plenty there for Trump to mine.

Can we be sure that having been Willie Brown’s mistress isn’t a political plus for Kamala? I understand that people in the military say you have to learn to follow orders before you can give orders. It could be that you have to learn how to be screwed by a politician before you can be the politician doing the … well, you get the rest.

After thinking about it and reading the comments, I’ve realized I don’t care what people call her as long as it isn’t Vice President-elect.

Trump is estopped from raising the issue of Willie Brown.

You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.

    We’ve never had a President who didn’t have warts . . .

    So many jokes…

We’re just lucky they didn’t go blind
