The Democrat Dream Ticket

Joe Biden has been a Washington politician for nearly 50 years.  His racist statements are legendary, as are his habitual inappropriate touching and sniffing of women and young girls.  His corruption has made him and his family incredibly wealthy, earning millions and millions of dollars by selling influence to foreign interests. He is clearly suffering from rapidly advancing dementia, and at times seems to lose track of where he is.

Given the 22 candidates in the Democrat primary, I suspect that most Republicans would have selected Biden as the easiest to beat in the general election, with maybe two to three exceptions. Kamala Harris slept her way into politics, then used ruthless politics to work her way into national prominence. She exudes the warmth of Hillary Clinton and the ethics of, well, Hillary Clinton.

I only bring all this up to point out that this team of Biden and Harris are going to win around half the vote in the upcoming election. This says a lot about today’s Democratic Party, and it says even more about today’s Democrat voters. I understand that Donald Trump is a hard guy to like. But it’s hard to argue that until COVID, America was doing extremely well under his leadership. Anyone who looks at this situation and decides to vote for Biden/Harris, well, that is simply extraordinary. And tens of millions of Americans are about to do exactly that. Which brings a few questions to my mind:

  1. Who could the Democratic Party possibly nominate who would not get about half the vote in a presidential election? The mind boggles.
  2. Why did Bernie Sanders withdraw from the race when he did?
  3. Who selected Kamala Harris?
  4. Is it possible that the Democrats intend to replace Biden as their presidential nominee before the election?
  5. Are there any Democrat voters out there, looking at their presidential ticket and thinking, “Oh heavens no…?”

If we have mail-in ballots in this election, it doesn’t matter who either party nominates – the Democrats will win, and win big.

But without mail-in ballots, I just can’t imagine Biden/Harris winning more than 10-15 states. But again, I’ll bet they will, somehow.

American politics – it’s bonkers right now.

We have one big difference between us – you think much more of the average voter than I do.  The average voter has no long term memory, the average voter got no further in learning the alphabet than the fourth letter, the average voter confused C-N-N with G-O-D, the average voter thinks (with good warrant, I might add) that Republicans are welfare for the rich and Democrats are welfare for the rest, the average voter thought Obama was going to pay their rent and buy them a new car and that’s all they cared about.

    2. Bernie got bought off once, and they’re putting his agenda in place anyway.

    3. Probably Obama. Harris is a better campaigner than Rice, and they’re going to try a law and order ploy.

    4. I think the plan involves stealing the election and propping him up for two years with Harris taking increasing responsibility. After two years as VP she can run on her own twice, giving 10 years to consolidate their gains. Plan B is if they can’t quite steal the election, create enough chaos and legal challenges so that the electoral college can’t get to a president. If they’e kept the House, reelect Pelosi as Speaker, and swear her in as President a couple of weeks later. AOC is too young to be her VP, though.

    Really cynical thought:

Did Obama agree to support Biden, in exchange for getting to choose his VP?  Thus, Obama could control American politics for nearly 2 decades?

Of all the names that were in play, Harris is probably the safest pick. But still a horrid pick. California is not in play. The feminist vote is not in play. The black vote is not in play. What does Biden gain here?  Harris isn’t even in the Bernie wing which I suspect is tenuous for Biden. She brings nothing but negatives and offers no positives.

Truth doesn’t matter to most people to Dr. Bastiat. I am not knowledgeable on the psychology of late-speakers but I am knowledgeable about the psychology of autistic people and scientists (big overlap in that group). You are focused on ideas and empirically provable reality.

That matters not to social status. Your occupation rewards you for finding the Truth of a person’s disease the knowledge granted by empirical knowledge to treat that disease. A person couldn’t get elected dogcatcher with that approach.

Imagine that you politely say that,

Blacks-Americans have a much bigger problem with homicide than other Americans. Nearly half of all homicides are done by and against black-Americans even though they are only twelve or thirteen percent of the population. The percentage of blacks who die from police is a tenth of 1% of the number that die from black on black homicide. Of course we should improve policing and punish bad cops and do more to improve black communities. But black on black homicide is more important than police brutality according to, easy to interpret plain evidence, (as a Doctor let me assure you that many studies are very hard to understand. These statistics are not.)

Nothing in the above sentence is untrue. Unreasonable or racist. Buddha, Jesus and Socrates would approve of you saying it because it is honest and polite and not puffed up.

But saying that puts many a career at risk and it weakens your status among the white elite. The point of politics isn’t to improve things for the wretched or to make the world more prosperous and fair or some such nonsense that Confucius would be interested in.

The point of all this is to look. By painting blacks as hapless victims lacking agency and by being an ‘advocate’ for them you look compassionate.

I say this with great affection for you Dr. Bastiat, I aspire to your quality of writing and daydream that I could have your fecundity of letters. But you need to wrap your head around that people do what it takes to move up in social status and to feel good about themselves and nothing else.

And from a practical and evolutionary basis, why shouldn’t they? You get ahead by accepting foolishness. Why bother reading Thomas Sowell if people will sneer at you at a party and you can’t change anyone’s mind with evidence? We are genetically designed to fire social ostracism.  The people who were socially ostracized tended to end up dead for most of human history and all of human pre-history.

If you can read as fast as you can type, I recommend reading Anna Karennina.

Stepan Arkadyevitch took in and read a liberal paper, not an extreme one, but one advocating the views held by the majority. And in spite of the fact that science, art, and politics had no special interest for him, he firmly held those views on all these subjects which were held by the majority and by his paper, and he only changed them when the majority changed them—or, more strictly speaking, he did not change them, but they imperceptibly changed of themselves within him.

Stepan Arkadyevitch had not chosen his political opinions or his views; these political opinions and views had come to him of themselves, just as he did not choose the shapes of his hat and coat, but simply took those that were being worn. And for him, living in a certain society—owing to the need, ordinarily developed at years of discretion, for some degree of mental activity—to have views was just as indispensable as to have a hat. If there was a reason for his preferring liberal to conservative Anna Karenina views, which were held also by many of his circle, it arose not from his considering liberalism more rational, but from its being in closer accordance with his manner of life.

Keep in mind that Oblonsky is a noble and is supposed to have a weighty burden of thinking about how to serve Mother Russia and G-d.

All is vanity and vexation of spirit.

    The Good Doctor:

“If we have mail-in ballots in this election, it doesn’t matter who either party nominates – the Democrats will win, and win big.”

One of the huge outcomes of Trumps 4 EO’s on Saturday is that it effectively takes national mail in ballots off the table. Ain’t gonna be any Democrat bill before the election and the Dems were pushing national mail in ballots with no effective verification in a big way.  Given the way the RINO Republicans in the Senate like to cave on important issues that is one huge deal. Nancy and many a Dem are gnashing their teeth in disbelief.  Senile Joe is gnashing his dentures in his more lucid moments.

    What a Dream Ticket!

The Sleazoid/Opportunist Senile Sexual Predator with the Sleazoid/Opportunist High End Mistress who slept her way to the top!  Wow! Could it ever get any better than that?

Just Imagine for a moment: President Kamala.

If Senile Joe wins you know she will be President in a New York second. I would even bet that if he wins ,  Senile Joe has already agreed to retire after a couple of months with a huge ton of Soros Cash.

I’ll be interested to see over the next 48-72 hours how the left side of the Democratic Party handles this. One of the main reasons Harris failed to gain traction during the primary season was what Tulsi Gabbard took her apart at the second debate, which was over Kamala’s hypocrisy in how she applied the law as a prosecutor in the Bay Area and then as state AG, particularly in connection with drug law sentencing versus her own (claimed) use of recreational drugs.

Team Biden likely sees that now as an asset, where one of his biggest weaknesses going forward is how lenient the Democratic Party as a whole has been towards protestors, rioters and looters over the past three months. But that only works if the far left side of the party is willing to be far less hostile to Harris now than they were a year ago.

If they’re not happy with the selection, they could demand Harris renounce her past positions, which would reflect on Biden and really isn’t a place he or his handlers want to go right now. The left side of the Democratic Party has shown the ability at times to shut up when they see keeping quiet as a way to future power — particularly in 1992, when they let Bill Clinton have his Sister Soljuah moment, and in 2008, when they allowed Barack Obama to campaign as being more moderate that he actually was.  I’m just not sure this is that moment, when the Antifa types in Portland keep defying Ted Wheeler, the #BLMers in Chicago do the same to Lori Lightfoot and say they deserve to loot downtown stores, and Seattle’s woke council humiliates their black police chief to the point she resigns rather than live under the city council and the mayor’s new pro-anarchist rules.

Why did Bernie Sanders withdraw from the race when he did?

Because Sanders was getting beat badly in the Democrat primaries and the Democrat powers that be said, “Hey, Bernie.  Do you want to be a spoiler?  Or do you want to help us beat Trump?”

Biden beat Sanders more soundly in the 2020 primaries than Hillary did in 2016.

Sanders beat Hillary in Michigan.  But Biden beat Sanders in Michigan.  When you get beat like a drum, sometimes it’s hard to justify staying in the contest.

Biden’s “inner circle” (Biden himself is comatose) knows that the Left has nowhere to go in this election except for the Biden ticket.

So, while Harris doesn’t really gain Biden anything, Biden (I mean, Biden’s inner circle) figures that they don’t lose much either.

There’s a belief among political wonks that a Vice Presidential pick doesn’t gain any presidential candidate any votes.  But a Vice Presidential pick can cause a presidential candidate to lose votes.  So, the Biden “brain trust” (contradiction in terms?) decided that Kamala Harris is the least worst alternative, the one who hurts Biden the least.

    That’s my guess.

Also, the Biden “brain trust” thinks that Biden is ahead of Trump by about 6 to 10 percentage points in the polls, running about even with Trump in states like Georgia, Texas, Iowa and Ohio.  So, they figure that they can coast to November as long as they don’t choose a open (as opposed to a secret) Castro admirer like Karen Bass.

This could work out like the prevent defense in professional football and cause a loss for the Biden-Harris ticket or maybe they actually can coast for 12 more weeks.  With a compliant media giving Biden-Harris a helping hand, who’s to say that the Biden brain trust is wrong?

Well, cutting deals with shot callers is one thing (which will surely happen), but my question is if she does not come out strongly anti-cop, won’t many of the hundreds of thousands of George Floyd marchers and their allies simply sit out the election?

Biden, in the 1990s, supported tough anti-crime legislation.  So, the Biden-Harris ticket seems to go against the hard Left’s instincts on criminal justice.  It’s all so 1980s and 1990s.
