COVID’s Hard Lesson

The Coronavirus has slapped us upside the head and reminded us that we are in a constant war with nature for our survival.  That’s easy to forget in our high-tech world, but every now and then a disaster comes along to remind us that Mother Nature is a bitch.

Logic, reason, and science have brought us a long way, but we ain’t God.  We’re very dependent upon our technical systems, networks, and tools, and when the power goes off, we’re back in the struggle against summer’s heat, winter’s cold, and night’s darkness.

Right now, the woke Left has declared war on logic, reason, and science in a mad grab for control of the fruits of logic, reason, and science. In the words of black, lesbian, feminist writer and activist, Audre Lorde, “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.”

But once they’ve turned STEM classes into little more than woke indoctrination sessions, who will keep the lights on? Who will create the products of science and industry once science and industry have been relegated to history’s dustbin?

In the Left’s war against “the master’s tools,” nature will be the only winner.

They don’t care.  If the 20th Century has taught us anything, it is that Leftist revolutionaries strongly prefer a benighted, shivering, listless population they can rule, over an enlightened, energetic, productive population they cannot.

They want us to be the Eloi. And we’re well on our way.

I am betting the Romans, after creating an empire and spreading their language and technology across a continent, never considered that those lands would enter a dark age, that would take hundreds of years to recover from.  It is weird to think that the USA, founded on the idea of technological innovation, would regress to ignorant savages.  Weird, but possible.   100 years from now, people of “America” will be sitting in the cold and dark, fighting over scraps of food, worshiping Gaia and St. Greta, and grunting insults at each other.  The average lifespan could return to the 30’s.

What are the odds that Ms Lorde knows how to use a tool? Any tool – hammer, wrench, screwdriver, whatever? Where would she and all those of her ilk be without people who do know how to use their tools?

    Freezing. Starving. Dead.

    Richard,

This frightens me more and more. I am sitting at what would have been the most exposed point of the Florida Coast. They issued an evac order (ignored by many). The “storm” touted endlessly on CNN as a great crisis “Florida fighting COVID and a Hurricane”, failed to produce even sustained Tropical Storm force winds where I sit. The power went once for 20 minutes (because our nearby transformer is a piece of junk that should have been replaced routine long ago). When you issue an evac people can get heart attacks & strokes from the fear and stress. I have never seen it this bad before. This was ridiculous. In years before they had oversold the first storm of the year to get people to stock up on supplies and check their shutters. However, to issue a phony evac is complete insanity. The next time they issue an evac nobody will go. If that one turns out to be real they’ll kill people. Of course, these mealy-mouthed lowlifes will blame the people and not their own incompetence.

Just another day in the Woketard neighborhood.

    Regards,

    Jim
