The Hearing of Attorney General Barr Is an Abomination

I can’t take it anymore. Watching the attack by Democrats on AG Barr at his hearing is a demonstration of the worst kind of politics imaginable. The House Judiciary Committee is not interested in receiving any kind of information. They are only interested in insulting, attacking, and silencing the Attorney General. I’ve seen my share of hearings, but this one was beyond the pale.

Grandstanding and false statements by the Democrats are very familiar. But they clearly coordinated their strategy with each other. First, they would insult him, state hyperbole, and eventually they would ask him a question, demanding a yes or no answer. They repeatedly cut him off when he tried to explain his response, or when he asked for clarification of what was supposed to be a question, and they continued to interrupt him. It’s clear they were trying to establish a basis for impeaching him, but every one of them should be removed from office.

I called out loud when one Representative said she was disappointed at how he had treated her so disrespectfully. Good grief.

I’m ashamed to think that these people are supposed to represent this country. As we say in Yiddish, it’s a schande (shame).

I agree. I will have nightmares over what this country will look like if Biden wins. If they also take the Senate, the divide will never heal.

It has become propaganda, misinformation, 1984 all the time.  The left has hung their hat and their election prospects on “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed’.

They think the American people are just stupid sheep who follow the latest trend and fashion.  That is why they are so keen on censorship in Twitter and You tube, because they are convinced that they can mold reality with lies.  Loud and frequent lies, without opposition.

Now, with the upcoming election, we get to find out if they are right.

It appears that @eherring watched most if not all of it, and did an excellent report on @ejhill’s post. If you don’t want to watch it in full, she does a good play-by-play.

I have heard the expression that “Republicans think Democrats are wrong, but Democrats think Republicans are Evil”

Unfortunately, that gives Democrats encouragement to be as rude, dishonest and unfair as possible, since – after all – they are fighting evil.

My wife and I have been listening to most of it and I commented that I thought that most voters would be turned off by the blatant unfairness of the Democratic side putting out a lie and then cutting off Barr’s response, since Americans take fairness pretty seriously.  Her reply was “What about your brother (the flaming liberal from Seattle)”

She had me there.  I also wonder how this will be covered by the MSM.  Jim Jordan and a couple of others had pretty good summaries of the corruption under Obama/Biden.  I bet those won’t make the news.

Susan Quinn: I can’t take it anymore.

Me neither, SQ!  I lasted through Nadler’s opening statement and couldn’t take it anymore.  My only thought was to Google “legislative privilege” to see if Nadler’s obnoxious, baseless slanders might constitute an exception.  No such luck.  What a shameless hack!

The upside of this is that a number of decent people who usually vote Democratic are having the same reaction as you did, Susan.  I imagine Joe Biden lost a lot of votes today.

You might think that some voters who have voted for these Democrats would actually raise questions about whether this performance labeled as a hearing (a session to hear from someone under oath) but dominated by lying Congress members making speeches is what they expect for their vote.

Towards the end, when he was clearly getting a little ‘testy’, he was asked a question with the snarky addition of ‘ Yes or No – under threat of perjury’ and when he started answering was cut off with the “reclaiming my time”.

He said (paraphrase) “I was invited to this hearing so you are damn well going to listen”

That is almost exactly what the man (Jon Henry) who got my Primary vote for US Senator said to me over breakfast some three months ago.

This is also an example of trying to change the subject, as polling over the past few days apparently showed the Democrats that their support for the Antifa-led riots in Portland, Seattle and elsewhere are not playing all that well with voters. So the talking points on Monday were to chide the riots a little as helping Trump in November, while Tuesday’s House hearing was to move the onus for the problems away from themselves and the people they’ve supported, and onto Barr (and by inference, Trump).

I had the exact same reaction, Susan!! First, it started with Nadler’s opening act.  It was beyond arrogant and my mouth was open so wide with astonishment, I could not believe what I was hearing – and this man was just in an accident???? That sneer then, and the whole time was …..evil? Not sure…Or was it Dracula rising back up out of his coffin – I had to blink!

I prayed for Barr from the moment he was sworn in, but I had to turn off the TV shortly after Barr’s five minute break resumed. I had to ask myself, are these people on the same planet as the rest of us?  After witnessing the appalling video, the Nadler smear, that smugness – I didn’t catch the comment……was he saying it wasn’t introduced prior to the so called hearing, and should be removed from the hearing??????  How could you still be smiling/sneering after watching that!  I had tears for my country – I think it was hard for Barr to watch!

This wasn’t a hearing – far from it. It was a bullhorn for the whiners who never ever make things better for the black community, the white community, or anyone else!  They are interested in power, their own hides and suppressing all the good that this country is founded upon. “I can’t take it anymore” is an understatement.

Very much share your frustration. Shameful.

Over the past few years have navigated the media malfeasance, race hoaxes, Covington, Kavanaugh, protest/riots, etc., and always ended up asking myself, “How could reasonable people do this?” Once I decided that good-faith ideological positions weren’t being employed, by them, it got easier to digest.

This is a Democrat party (and a few conservastragglers) that is utterly terrified of the Durham investigation, which looks to be the political scandal of my lifetime (50). The angry reliance on intersectionality and critical race theory permeates everything, i.e., Kavanaugh: “Due process? What’s that? Blasey Ford doesn’t have to give you proof. #BelieveAllWomen or you are ___.” They’ve been screaming at us to bend the knee, canceling those that don’t, and “reclaiming their time” whenever someone from the “wrong” side dares speak.

Honestly think this is going to come down to Obama being in the cross hairs, caught red-handed and knee deep in sheep, with Democrats defiant, “YES. He broke the law. And he was entitled to.” Would love to be wrong, but to me it’s the only thing that can explain this level of volume, vitriol, and well-funded enmity.

This sounds close to being right:

At this point many of what appear to be the more abstract aspect of Stephen Coughlin and Rich Higgins’ paper becomes concrete.

It is not fake news, but it is enemy propaganda.

It is not a deep state but an entire anti-state created by some politicians, like the Portland and Chicago mayors, and corporations like GoDaddy and Google who violate both real law, and their own stated rules to make sure the narrative is preserved while contradictory ideas, even where proven to be true, will not be allowed unimpeded.

What the writer calls the anti-state is deeply embedded in all three branches of government and their symbiotic mass of non-profit and for-profit entities, in academia, in social media; to a great extent it is the state, though it extends beyond the state.

    It is, however the anti-Republic.

Since they stick to their delusions because they make them feel good, there are only two things that might work: show them something that makes them feel better, or arrange to have their delusions make them feel bad.

Perhaps if the riots come to their own homes, they will begin to feel bad. I might support Stephen Kruiser’s proposition to just let these Democrat cities burn.

A point I’ve been making over and over this year is that these liberal cities need to feel the pain of electing childish leftists. When your police chief is imploring your mayor to not proceed down a path of lawless madness and the mayor is ignoring her, it’s time for the idiots who voted for that mayor to wallow in some harsh reality and consequences for a while. Riot on and see how that works out for you.

I will admit that this is something I go back and forth on a lot. Yes, just last week I was praising the president for sending federal officers to Portland but, as Bryan noted in his post, riots get crazier on the weekends. Watching all of the riot lunacy play out in the PNW over the last few days wore on me a bit. I understand that the feds are there protecting federal property and as long as they are allowed to operate at full capacity it’s all well and good.

The nagging feeling that these putrid progressive cities should be left to riot and rot long enough for people to vote with their feet keeps growing on me.

While we’re at it, we should round up every journo hack who keeps calling the riots “peaceful protests” and send them to downtown Seattle or Portland. Let them see what all of that peacefulness looks like up close.

    Also . . .

I watched it for a while and, like you, couldn’t take it anymore. Barr is calm and factual, but I found myself wishing he’d just get up and walk out. It’s okay with the Dems if Holder called himself Obama’s wingman, but Lord help a man in the same position appointed by a Republican president. They asked him questions and wouldn’t wait for his answer to the point that it was nothing but grandstanding. If Barr has a fault, it is that he is too nice to those arrogant, vile, disgustingly mean people who should never have been elected in the first place.
