The ‘Secret Police’ Narrative

To write good fiction, at least according a presentation I attended with author Lisa Scottoline, you have to get your reader to “willingly suspend disbelief,” which means your novel has to bring with it an air of credibility that derives from small facts presented correctly. A policeman loads a magazine, not a clip. A bad guy fires six shots, not ten, from a revolver. The references to laws are correct. In short, in getting the reader to suspend his right to disbelieve your narrative, you have to get the little stuff right and your narrative has to be consistent. This is why the Left is losing the fight for the soul of America.

I was reminded of this fact last night talking to a very good friend, who told me he was upset about the “secret police” in Portland. I tried to assure him that what he was seeing on television was not the entire story, and that he should read the reporting from people on the ground in Portland and watch that video if he wanted to know the truth.

Then, the more I thought about it, the more I recognized another clever trick being used by the mainstream media and the Democrats to create the very fear my son experienced. Nancy Pelosi, a person who has served four decades in government, and who knows we do not have any secret police, calls them “stormtroopers.” This wasn’t a hat tip to Star Wars, it was an attempt to remind everyone in the center that Trump is “literally Hitler.” Jerry Nadler calls the Portland violence a “myth.” And CNN and MSNBC offer us the “secret police” narrative. This kind of disinformation is designed to create fear and panic, and it is doing some of that in the people who don’t bother to think critically and investigate.

Let’s unpack the “Secret Police” lie.  Apparently, we’ve formed a secret police that no one knows about. But, unlike a real secret police, it only manifests itself during riots. It has insignia identifying the person as a DHS officer, but no name tag. And much to the chagrin of Tammy Teacher, the Drama Queen, he won’t “use his words” and provide that name so that someone can dox him and harass his family and burn down his house. Gosh, that’s not playing fair.

Oh, and did I mention that these secret police, unlike the “Gestapo” and the real miscreants from Hitler’s Germany, haven’t been running around lining people up against walls and shooting them. Given the huge number of mutants who attack the Portland courthouse every night, it seems odd that the Secret Police have not actually engaged in anything more threatening than using teargas, firing rubber bullets, and whacking a few numbskulls with batons. At the same time, they’ve been subject to fireworks and mortars. So, in terms of getting the small things right, actually doing the analysis to determine whether and to what extent this “secret police” force exists, the media are happy with an assertion with no evidence. Yet when Trump says something, he has to have evidence. If the media didn’t have a double standard, it would have no standards at all.

Another big lie you hear is “there would be no riots if the federal officers were not there.” Everyone who has been paying attention knows that is not true. The riots brought the officers, the officers did not bring the riots. Then there’s the whole question of why the Portland idiots are storming the courthouse. We do not have a Bastille in this country, and there are no federal prisoners there. So why do it? Because it’s federal, and it is in Portland.

Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Judge:              Why did you rob the bank?

Criminal:         It’s the bank’s fault.

Judge:              What?

Criminal:         They put their bank on the corner where I could see it. I wouldn’t rob it if it wasn’t there!

That’s the level  of intellect we’re dealing with in Portland. You can be certain that if the feds left, these mutants would burn the courthouse to the ground and kill anyone they thought they could get away with killing. The sympathetic riots in other towns are part of a planned, coordinated effort to sow discord and deny Donald Trump a second term by electing a brain-damaged, woman-groping, China-loving, nepotist who has been in government longer than Pelosi and hasn’t done anything that helped anyone. People are growing tired of this, and the idiots out protesting and using violence are not the ones who vote. They’re content with raising hell. Those who vote have had enough.

In my opinion, this simmering revolution is backfiring. I see Trump flags all the time. I have not seen a single Biden sign. I have not talked to a single person who is voting for Biden, or who thinks Biden has the mental firepower to dress himself without help.

Everyone on the left keeps trying to convince me that Biden is up in the polls. So was Hillary.

In the end, I have a deep and abiding faith in God. I believe that He will get us through this, and that whatever happens is His will. I refuse to be afraid. I refuse to be depressed. I will continue to carry the fight to people who believe anarchy is better than ordered liberty.

God Bless America.

Hear, hear. What we are getting is a dictionary definition of gaslighting.

It’s all manipulation. I am willing to be persuaded, but I find manipulation deeply offensive, because it assumes that I’m stupid.

It is good that Biden is up the polls.  That makes it less likely the DNC replaces him at the convention.  The Biden ticket is a suicide pact for the DNC.

How can someone be concerned about nonexistent “secret police,” but not be worried about rioters in major cities?

    Anthony,

One of the very simple concepts that have been at the root of Western Civilization’s jurisprudence is habeas corpus. If you are arrested you must be brought before a judge and charged with a specific crime and where you are imprisoned shall be recorded as well. Secret Police don’t bother with habeas corpus. In Stalin’s Soviet Union people disappeared entirely. No one not even relatives knew where they were or what happened to them for decades.

Antifa and their ilk are Marxist lying babies. If there were American secret police most of Anifa would already be dead or just disappeared. In Western China, a few million people were rounded up on the basis of their ethnicity and put in concentration camps. Perhaps our Antifa would like to visit these camps and discover what real tyranny is all about. Perhaps they should be left there in exchange for the tortured current occupants.

    Regards,

    Jim

Isn’t this why the Leftists’ false narratives collapse. It might take a while for government to separate the rioters from the peaceful protesters but it could take forever for the Left to prove the existence of ‘secret police’.

There is no “secret police” aspect to the arrests that are being made in Portlandia. The police use spotters, and have access to live feed video.

Spotters pass along descriptions of individuals that are throwing objects, setting fires, and engaging in vandalism to officers on the front line. These morons eventually get closer to the line cops. They get caught up in the thrill, and the adrenaline rush of doing stupid things. The word goes out over the radio from the spotters to grab an individual they’ve been watching. The line cops grab said individual, and make an arrest.

As I told some individuals that I arrested; You’re life would be a lot less complicated if you sat in front of a television you paid for, and consumed a few beers you didn’t steal.

@dougwatt I have only done a couple of criminal cases as a lawyer, but each time I was through, I was glad there were prisons.  I don’t think I could do it now.  A guy stealing a car, maybe.  These mutants…not on your life.

We’re actually worse off than the residents of the former Soviet Union. Back then, nobody believed what they read in Pravda and Izvestia.

we need a better culture. Telling people they should just stay home and consume ( legal) drugs and watch whatever to corporate media wants is no answer. That’s a false choice.

It will be interesting to see if this works for Democrats. I don’t think it will but, just in case, my younger son is now on a trip with his daughter visiting U of Alabama.  A Biden presidency may see a massive shift of population to the Old South.  He has already scouted out other areas to retire to.  I have another son who is a Democrat and trial lawyer.  His life is a bit of a mess and I have no idea what he plans. My three daughters are still dithering a bit about long term goals.

The polls have a blatant flaw: Republicans are consistently undersampled by 10 percent.

There are some exceptions.  For example, if you are pulled over for a traffic violation, you are technically under arrest and charged with a crime (issued a ticket) without a judge present.  However, the officer has the option of making a standard arrest and taking you downtown to be brought before a magistrate and booked.

That also jibes with the Trump signs and banners I posted about in the other thread as seeing during my vacation last week in southern Colorado. You would think if the white-hot Trump hatred was there at the same levels of the Antifa protestors or the on-air talent at CNN, people would have been far less willing to show their support in a place with total strangers around, or at least a few of those strangers would have openly confronted the Trump supporters for their (name your ‘ism’ and/or ‘phobic’ slur here).

But no one did, which at least in the sample size I saw, indicates that the passion of people out and about during the summer is all on the Trump side as of now. Again, that might be because anyone supporting Biden was either flocking to Denver to riot last weekend, or 110 percent positive those fools going to Pike’s Peak or on the Royal Gorge excursion train would be dead of COVID before August due to their impunity. But if there’s a lot of passionate backing of wacky-but-loveable Uncle Joe out there among people not prone to tearing down statues or trying to burn courthouses, it’s keeping itself very, very low key. Which has never been the style of liberals, who tend to blast their opinions to everyone, because they think only a evil person or an idiot wouldn’t agree with their opinions.

Technically there are two types of offenses-Crimes and Violations. Crimes can include imprisonment as well as a fine. Violations only contain a fine and no imprisonment. A traffic stop is not an arrest, it is a detention. The detention only lasts long enough for the officer to obtain a drivers license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and the time it takes to write the cite. The exception would be, if instead of putting the three kilos of cocaine in the trunk the driver left them sitting on the back seat, or the more common DUII. Then the stop becomes a crime.

    Stad,

The point of habeas corpus is that you are not locked in a dungeon without others knowing where you are or a court informed as to why you are there. With the traffic ticket, you are pulled over to the side of the road while the cop checks you out by computer and writes you up. Your incarceration is momentary and if you wanted to you could use your cell phone to call anyone and inform them of your delay.

It is important to understand the implications of a state that systematically doesn’t obey habeas corpus. Ask the citizens of such countries whether they live in fear because of it. Ask them if it is a relief to live in America. I think you already know the answer.

    Regards,

    Jim

A minor addendum:  Of course, the officer has the power to do that, but it’s mighty rare.  If the subject succeeds in raising a fuss big enough to cause the officer to execute this right, likely the reason for the stop will have diminished to the point of insignificance.  Besides, any subject stupid enough to do that usually turns out to have warrants aplenty to assure an expense – paid trip downtown.

But back to the subject: By signing the citation, the subject waives his right to be taken directly to a magistrate, by agreeing to appear in court.  If s/he doesn’t want to waive this right, all s/he has to do is not sign the citation.  S/he will immediately be granted his/her wish.

We do have secret police. However, the current president should not utilize them, and is actively trying to oppose them.

These secret police are the members of Bill Gates’ syndicate, and they have us under soft martial law.  People who work in larger organizations are told they must submit to being tested for COVID, and then if the test is positive, they must quarantine for 2 weeks.

Since the test results often take 3 weeks before a result is announced, this means many average law abiding citizens are now under house arrest for five full weeks.

Meanwhile the people in charge of this program are not considered police but “health experts.”

Our Pravda-style media continues to blast the airwaves that this is all so absolutely necessary as COVID is a killer. People would realize it is not anywhere near a pandemic styled illness, except for the fact that our “health experts” have sufficiently suppressed information about various cheap remedies, such as Hydroxychloroquine, favipiravir and the asthma medication Dr Bartlett of TX has been using.

Our nation does not need police, as  its “doctors” are adequately fulfilling the function of those secret police.
