It is extremely important to know who has your back. Many will claim to have your back until trouble starts and then they are nowhere to be found.

ZOA Sets Up Antisemitism Hotline for New York Times Staffers

ZOA condemns the hostile antisemitic work environment now on full and public display at the NY Times. Bari Weiss’s decision to resign from her position as a writer and editor at the Times highlights the problems of journalists who call out antisemitism on the right and the left, and stand up for Israel.

No journalist should pay a price for expressing these views. In her resignation letter, Weiss revealed that her Times colleagues called her “a Nazi and a racist.” They criticized her for “writing about the Jews again.”

To all journalists: We are with you and we are here to help you. ZOA has a long and proud record of effectively fighting antisemitism and standing up for the rights of Jews and those that support Israel. We do it in the courts, in Congress, in the media, in schools, and on college campuses. Rest assured, ZOA will stand up for you, too.

If you have been bullied, harassed, or even threatened for expressing support for Jews or Israel, please contact us. We will guide you and stand up for your right to express those views – and the public’s right to hear them.

Contact us at (212) 481-1500 or info@zoa.org. Together we will fight this culture of intolerance and hostility and bias and bigotry against Jews and the Jewish State at the NY Times and other media outlets.

In the Jewish world, the traditional anti-Semitism organization to go to has been the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Many Jewish organizations (excepting ZOA) have long been left-leaning and now are straying to the far left. For an organization like ADL to be silent at this point is pathetic. The attack on Synagogues in LA by BLM/Antifa was akin to a pogrom. Violence in Brooklyn against Jews continues as DeBlasio ignores it and attacks his own police force. Tell your Jewish charity rep when he/she contacts you for the donation that you are giving your money to ZOA this year because his/her willfully blind organization did nothing and said nothing while Jews were being attacked. I met Jonathan Greenblatt, the new young hip CEO of ADL, last year. I tried to be positive with him. His speech (mostly generalities) gave me a few openings so I talked to him briefly afterward. I wasted my time. Easy to blow smoke at a show & tell but when the chips are down and you’ve got to defend Jews and it might hurt all your Dem friends politically, you vanish into thin air.

Pathetic.

Regards,

Jim

The NY Fishwrap is owned and run by a family of self-hating and Israel-hating Jews. They are disgusting and a blot on our people.

Given who they are, I commend their being self-hating. Or at least self-loathing. Particularly Tweak. or Slap, or Noogie, or whatever his name is.

It seems like every time I do a post on anti-Semitism in the U.S., I’m told it isn’t a big problem. The number of incidents aren’t that large. I’ve never received an answer as to how many incidents it would take to make it a big deal.

    Susan,

The number of anti-Semitic incidents per Jewish population is much higher than any other identity group and has been increasing. These incidents are easily classed as hate crimes in comparison to other groups who have their incidents classed as hate crimes.

Apparently, a noose on a garage door pull that had been there a year before Bubba got to the race track is bigger news than multiple Synagogues vandalized and set fire in LA or Orthodox Jews assaulted in broad daylight by multiple assailants on the streets in Brooklyn.

Jonathan Greenblatt is a high tech business guy and very slick when he speaks. Too bad he never read the fine print in ADL’s mission statement and doesn’t seem to have a clue unless it “fits the narrative”. Then he’s Batman jumping into action. I am especially ticked off because I was so nice to him (The Rabbi breathed a sigh of relief).

    Regards,

    Jim

    Susan,

That’s because Jews are powerful white people and racism is all about power discrepancies, so violence against Jews is just a redress of legitimate grievances. The only time violence against Jews and Jewish institutions counts is when it’s perpetrated by people who are even whiter than Jews are.

ADL President Greenblatt is reported (accurately, it sounds like) to have physically assaulted a female ZOA staffer.

Seth Mandel wrote this for Commentary:

Indeed, Greenblatt sees institutional memory itself as an obstacle. In May, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations convened a panel to hear complaints by three member groups: the ADL, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, and the Zionist Organization of America. ADL and HIAS brought complaints about the ZOA’s criticism of their work. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), Greenblatt “submitted to the Presidents Conference a six-page letter and an Excel sheet with 36 complaints against ZOA dating back to 2007.”

He wanted the Presidents Conference to muzzle criticism of those who said the ADL was losing its way.

ZOA’s complaint was far more serious. It alleged that after a 2016 panel discussion on BDS at the United Nations, Greenblatt was so angry about criticism of his ADL that he physically accosted the ZOA’s Liz Berney. She told JTA that Greenblatt “came up to my right side, put his arm around my back, grabbed me with his left hand on my left shoulder. He starts pushing me with the force of his arm down the hall. I was trying to get away from him, and he was restraining me.” Berney said Greenblatt brought her to the Iraqi and Syrian missions and yelled that they—not ADL—were the real enemy. Greenblatt and the ADL unequivocally denied the allegation, though JTA spoke to six people to whom Berney related the story right after it happened.

Daniel Greenfield has more, and some discussion.

This wouldn’t be the first time leftist men have attacked pro-Israel Jewish women. The number of such incidents by prominent men is genuinely shocking. And there tend to be zero consequences.

We’re seeing a lot of Leftist violence being framed as “speech.” That goes with the “silence is violence” signs that are all over town.

There seem to be a lot of Jews who are so concerned the the Cossacks will show up in the form of white, southern, poorly-educated Evangelicals that they are blind to real threats both from ‘progressives’ and from radical Islamists. This is probably a special case of the phenomena I wrote about in this post: The phobia(s) that may destroy America.

It is indeed very sad to think that we are turning on our own. What next?
