Volume Up, Windows Down
Driving around with the volume up and windows down is requisite every summer. Preferably on a wide, open road headed to the canyon, lake, mountains, anywhere except home. Ok, sometimes in town. Here are some of my favorites to listen to.
You knew this one was coming!
There are too many, but these make me happy!
Please share yours! Feel the wind in your hair and sing along!

Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run:
The Doors, Roadhouse Blues:
Savoy Brown, Hellbound Train:
Oh the memories
Rolling Stones, Jumpin’ Jack Flash:
Bob Seger, Hollywood Nights:
Another Bob Seger. “Roll Me Away”
And probably the greatest of them all. Steppenwolf, Born to be Wild:
Roadrunner!
The Weezer version on Take on Me is a curious choice. my favorite Weezer song is Don’t Let Go.
That is my favorite Seger song and it’s not really considered in the first level of his hits. Just love the intro.
Parental Advisory Suggested
My favorite Volume Up, Windows Down band.
And another Seger, dedicated unapologetically to the men and women in blue:
(Except for the one at that speed trap in Indiana that one time. He can go rot.)
More Seger, you say? Alright. You talked me into it.
Although pretty much a star, I think he’s underrated. Springsteen has the critical cache, but Seger is rock n’ roll.
I’ll take him and Tom Petty over the “Boss” any day.
BTW, where’s The Strut?
We don’t do much driving with the windows down in the Arizona summer sun!

Hit it!
Oh, and of course:
Bob Seger is the thinking man’s Bruce Springsteen.
Is he a Red Wings fan?
I didn’t say he was perfect.
Springsteen probably roots for the Leafs.
One of my favorite crank-it-up sing-a-long songs ever:
This happens to be my ringtone because I love the intro, but it works here too.
This one only truly works at full volume:
I only buy cars or car stereos with an “11” on the volume knob. It’s somewhat limiting.
No doubt about this one; one of the greatest of all time. Phil Rizzuto, “Holy cow. I think he’s gonna make it!”
I gotta go with Men At Work; ‘Who Can It Be Now?”
Some of the best saxophone work that I’ve ever heard…
I like “Down Under” a lot as well. The lead guy in that band has some good solo albums.
I Got A Line On You, by Spirit
I don’t think there was a video.
