Perhaps. I think it’s more likely that they do view this guy as their friend and don’t realize he looks down on them. The messages Chad Sanders is getting from his “friends” don’t sound like they are coming from masochists wanting to be scolded. They sound like empathetic people expressing support for a friend. They just don’t realize he looks down on them.
