Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. And Martial Law Isn’t Justified in Certain Cities Right Now, Because…?

Do I need to provide the video evidence? Do I really? If you’ve spent just a few minutes watching the news on television or watching video clips on Twitter you know that cities around the nation are under siege and are burning. Innocent people are getting hurt — regardless of their race or ethnicity. Motorists on highways and streets minding their own business, just trying to get home in most cases, are being attacked. Their vehicles’ windows have been shattered with metal pipes and other weapons. Did these motorists somehow support the killing of George Floyd?

Businesses and government buildings are being attacked, vandalized, and set on fire. Washington DC is beginning to look like a war zone. Do you honestly think this is still only about the death of George Floyd? Or are terrorist organizations like Antifa using this moment to bring upon the communist revolution they’ve had wet dreams about? You think the Antifa thugs give a rat’s rear about George Floyd or his family? Protesters on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills are shouting, “Eat the Rich!” Doesn’t sound like anything to do with George Floyd to me.

Are you looking for leadership from Joe Biden or Speaker Pelosi or any prominent Democrat to condemn the violence and demand that the riotous mobs get off the street rather than put the blame on all of this somehow on President Trump because, you know, he’s racist and supports white supremacists that everyone knows, comprise his base? Just ask some of the Never Trump “conservatives” who have espoused this same nonsense. You know, those condescending Beltway snobs that MSNBC and CNN routinely invite to trash the President and one who used to be a frequent commentator on Ricochet until enough of the membership called foul on her baseless trash talk.

It would be wise if prominent Republicans — Mitch McConnell, Vice President Pence, AG Barr, and others — while calling for the violence to stop also call out prominent Democrat for their silence. Especially Biden and Pelosi, or in some cases for their reckless speech that is helping to fuel the violence.

Luckily, my son and I don’t live in a downtown area of any major city but my prayers go out to those who are sheltering in place, not because of some overblown pandemic, but from random acts of violence that may cross their path if they happen to be out running errands like buying food before the grocery store is looted or burned to the ground.

Some military personnel beyond the National Guard have been put on alert that they should be ready at a moment’s notice to deploy to various cities. Naturally, the Catch-22 is that the President is damned if or when he deploys troops (beyond the Guard) because the political geniuses at the NY Times, CNN, WaPo, MSNBC, and of course, the more radical Leftist elements already engaged in violence will claim that deploying troops to quell the riots will prove them right when they claimed that Trump would be a fascist dictator.

Frankly, right now, the image of thousands of troops restoring order on America’s streets would be a welcome sight. The sooner the better.

Of course, some here on Ricochet may think this is too extreme. I’m willing to listen while we watch the violence and destruction continue.

    Brian,

This is the reality that needs to be pushed through all the garbage news reporting. These people aren’t rioters and they aren’t protesters. These people are domestic terrorists making use of a single incident that fits their lunatic narrative. They are professional terrorists trained and commanded by an outside organization with no concern for the community nor for “race relations” inside the United States.

    Regards,

    Jim

No more than the Nazis cared about Marinus van der Lubbe, the mope they pinned the Reichstag fire on.

    Stay safe, Brian.

AG Barr has said as much…but is limited in tamping down what’s happening in the streets now. The DoJ can only prosecute after the fact. It’s the Commander-in-Chief’s move to restore order, save lives, and save businesses.

There’s a protest in downtown Buffalo right now. So far peaceful, and there’s a pretty good police presence. My wife has been following a reporter’s Twitter feed to get updates: https://twitter.com/madisonlcarter. At one point the march was not far from the place I work, and it did worry me. I hope it stays under control.

The mayor of Nashville, Tennessee told protesters he was going to attend a George Floyd protest event. Rioters then set City Hall and a courthouse in Nashville on fire. The governor has just called for the National Guard to bring order.

    Brian,

This is the dream world that we all have been living in. Antifa has been running loose for years. An adjective that Trump used that the idiot media didn’t like is still the most important story for the MSM airheads. These terrorists destroy property and commit violent acts against citizens and police. They come armed and ready to riot. The Mayor of Nashville is an idiot. He thought he was going to finesse the situation and they made a monkey out of him.

These jerks need to be exposed for what they are and stopped cold.

    Regards,

    Jim

I am not clicking any of the stories in the mass media that concern these riots. I glanced at a few pictures out of Boston today, and I realized that the rioters were simply performing for the mass media and social media. They got what they wanted two days ago. If they have something serious to say, they should work through the self-government system that we created between 1774 and 1789 to realize their objectives, which of course requires that they spend some time to hammer out. They can even get involved with a local oversight committee for their police department.

I am not going to help the mass media replace their declining virus income with riot income, and I’m not giving the rioters an audience.

As @exjon has asked, why are Democratically led cities so violent?

A young man attempting to dissuade rioters from vandalizing a store in downtown Dallas may have been could have been killed by rioters moments ago but now appears to be in critical condition. Hopefully he gets quick medical attention and protection from his attempted murderers. The video that appeared on Twitter is too graphic to place on Ricochet. He was beaten over the head with a skateboard and pelted with rocks by rioters.

Is murder now a form of protest?

My sis works in a Rochester hospital. They are on lockdown. Hospital is quiet, and apparently a safe haven. Hopefully it stays that way.

Curfew from 8pm to 7am in the city.

County also locked down 8pm to 6am.

So now instead of coronavirus maps and statistics, we’ll have riot maps?

Omg, I can’t even contemplate this.

All I can say is those freaking rioters better wear masks. <sarc/off>

In Seattle, rioters have smashed store windows, looted and set fire to a Nordstrom’s store which looks like it will be totally destroyed. But it’s okay, because Washington State Governor (and former presidential candidate) Jay Inslee has called up the National Guard…but has insisted that they somehow bring order to the birthplace of Antifa by being unarmed. Not sure how the head of Washington’s Nat’l Guard can agree to these terms because it makes each Guard soldier a sitting duck. I think a Presidential intervention may be in order.

It always has been. And has often been a method that backfires on the protestors. Even attempted murder or close calls are not recommended. It’s why I don’t like when some Ricochet people start in with the loose talk about how government won’t dare do X because we have guns.

    Idiocy.

Let the national guard stay home if you’re going to hog tie them like that.

How can this even be true?

Well, I replied to Inslee FWIW…I thought I’d screen capture it before the idiot blocked me:
