Do I need to provide the video evidence? Do I really? If you’ve spent just a few minutes watching the news on television or watching video clips on Twitter you know that cities around the nation are under siege and are burning. Innocent people are getting hurt — regardless of their race or ethnicity. Motorists on highways and streets minding their own business, just trying to get home in most cases, are being attacked. Their vehicles’ windows have been shattered with metal pipes and other weapons. Did these motorists somehow support the killing of George Floyd?
Businesses and government buildings are being attacked, vandalized, and set on fire. Washington DC is beginning to look like a war zone. Do you honestly think this is still only about the death of George Floyd? Or are terrorist organizations like Antifa using this moment to bring upon the communist revolution they’ve had wet dreams about? You think the Antifa thugs give a rat’s rear about George Floyd or his family? Protesters on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills are shouting, “Eat the Rich!” Doesn’t sound like anything to do with George Floyd to me.
Are you looking for leadership from Joe Biden or Speaker Pelosi or any prominent Democrat to condemn the violence and demand that the riotous mobs get off the street rather than put the blame on all of this somehow on President Trump because, you know, he’s racist and supports white supremacists that everyone knows, comprise his base? Just ask some of the Never Trump “conservatives” who have espoused this same nonsense. You know, those condescending Beltway snobs that MSNBC and CNN routinely invite to trash the President and one who used to be a frequent commentator on Ricochet until enough of the membership called foul on her baseless trash talk.
It would be wise if prominent Republicans — Mitch McConnell, Vice President Pence, AG Barr, and others — while calling for the violence to stop also call out prominent Democrat for their silence. Especially Biden and Pelosi, or in some cases for their reckless speech that is helping to fuel the violence.
Luckily, my son and I don’t live in a downtown area of any major city but my prayers go out to those who are sheltering in place, not because of some overblown pandemic, but from random acts of violence that may cross their path if they happen to be out running errands like buying food before the grocery store is looted or burned to the ground.
Some military personnel beyond the National Guard have been put on alert that they should be ready at a moment’s notice to deploy to various cities. Naturally, the Catch-22 is that the President is damned if or when he deploys troops (beyond the Guard) because the political geniuses at the NY Times, CNN, WaPo, MSNBC, and of course, the more radical Leftist elements already engaged in violence will claim that deploying troops to quell the riots will prove them right when they claimed that Trump would be a fascist dictator.
Frankly, right now, the image of thousands of troops restoring order on America’s streets would be a welcome sight. The sooner the better.
Of course, some here on Ricochet may think this is too extreme. I’m willing to listen while we watch the violence and destruction continue.Published in
