I Think the Time for Open Defiance Might Be Approaching

This is a series of quotes from politicians around the country today.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy:

“You, too, should expect to continue with this for the foreseeable future,” Murphy said of the state’s coronavirus restrictions, as he outlined when workers might be able to get back to their offices. He continued: “Until either a proven vaccine is in our midst or proven therapeutics are widely available, we cannot firmly enter the new normal, which eventually awaits us when life will once again return to all of our workplaces, downtowns and main streets. Most importantly, we will continue to be guided by the principle that public health creates economic health. And if we begin to see a backslide in public health, we will have to also pull back on the reins of our restart.”

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer:

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said that crowds would not be able to gather for professional or college sports in her state until a vaccine is available or there’s a rigorous testing regime in place with signs of herd immunity in the population.

“We’re gonna be in a new normal for quite a while. And it doesn’t mean that sports is over,” Whitmer said in a press conference Friday, mentioning a plan being pursued by the MLB to play a shortened season with no fans present.

“We need a vaccine, and we need to have mass quantities available,” she continued. “Or we need to be able to test and be able to acknowledge that we’ve got some immunity that’s built up. We’re not there yet and until that happens I think all the organizers of these leagues understand how important it is that we act responsibly here.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti:

“We have to all recognize that we’re not moving beyond COVID-19, we’re learning to live with it,” Garcetti said. “There’s no so-called ‘open state’ or ‘open country’ that doesn’t continue to have health orders telling us to cover our faces, physical distance and to tell people that you’re safest working from and staying at home.”

When will it be time for the Citizens of New Jersey, Michigan, and California to simply say “No, just No?” We will not continue to rot in place until our Rulers declare it is safe for us to emerge. When?

Defy Tyranny. Break the Lockdown.

Let’s start by showing a simple sign of our solidarity with those who are unemployed and bankrupted by this authoritarian debacle.

Drive with your lights on.  Let that be our symbol.

Spread the word through social media.  Spread the word on Ricochet.  Let every right wing web site espouse this.

    Drive with your lights on.

Good idea Doctor, but what about all those who are still sheltering in place and don’t drive because they are deemed ‘not essential”?  I’d just suggest that they get into their cars and drive with their lights on.

My car has daytime running lights.  And as others mentioned, I’m driving very little currently.

How about some TV ads in the closed states: Arizona. Texas, Florida, etc are open for business. Rile up the citizenry.

Which TV station/network would accept ads advising the peons to disobey their betters in government?  None, they are licensed by the government.  Mass media are on the side of the “overclass”, not the ordinary people.

They’re locked down so they can’t flee those states.

Our governor reopened barbershops and salons this week.  When he made the announcement, I saw he was almost sporting a mullet.  In other words, he wasn’t getting his hair cut either.  Then it dawned on me:

How many of these governors continued to look like their usual selves – hair cut or neatly styled, elegant manicured nails, makeup perfectly applied?  Put another way, how many were defying their own orders?

Governor Tom Wolf said yesterday that a full reopening will not be possible until there is an effective vaccine so I think many Pennsylvanians are ready to roll.

Even the Pinky (slang for the communist Philadelphia Inquirer known as the Inky) had an article about how even some Democrats are becoming upset with the Governor. For them to even print such heresy on their pages  indicates a sea change. I dip into Governor Wolf’s Twitter timeline frequently and I can tell you even the Dem natives are getting restless. No matter what happens on this, I’m cautiously optimistic that m PA is going to go red in November.

True.  How about this:  Those of us in non-lockdown areas (and those willing to defy lockdowns) start taking and posting photos of our ‘escaping lock down’ experiences.  Could have an explicit political message or not.  Just let the subjects in the locked states see what free citizens are doing right now, that might be message enough.  (I just got back from hitting the barber shop and the adjoining coffee place for the first time since the plague began.  Wish I’d thought of taking pictures then…)

    I’m pro-mask *and* anti-lockdown.

When I see here that Beijing (the municipality) has lifted its requirement for mask-wearing in public places, and that (per the article) couples are dancing in parks (?!…), it seems to me that this constitutes sufficient proof that the likes of Garcetti, Whitmer, Wolf, and Whosis in Oregon all deserve as much non-violent defiance as can be mustered.

Anywhere you have access like, for instance, here.  And get it promoted to the front page.  Just get the meme out there – “post your lock down escape photos/vids” – and let it go where it may.  Let Facebook, Twitter and the like try to censor something like that.  Rushbabe’s right that the MSM are a chokepoint – so go somewhere else, with no sponsoring organization that can be demonized by the statists.

    Local PD in New Jersey:

Atilis Gym’s Bellmawr branch opened its doors in front of a swarm of demonstrators on Monday at 8am in violation of the Garden State’s stay-at-home orders because owner Ian Smith was ‘sick and tired’ of having his rights ‘trampled’ by Democratic Governor Phil Murphy.

Cops then made their way through the people holding American flags and Trump 2020 signs and chanting ‘Let’s get back to work’ and told staff they wouldn’t have to shut down, even though they were breaking the executive order requiring all non-essential businesses to stay closed.

‘We are and only were here for everybody’s safety today. We planned for the worst and hoped for the best, and it seems like that’s what we have out here today,’ an officer said around 10.30am to the crowd and people inside the gym. ‘Formally, you are all in violation of the executive order. On that note, have a good day. Everybody be safe.’

    Great piece Rush Babe.

Of course, I am starting to relax. I have it on insider info that once we re inside the cattle cars, the six feet between people and all  the mask restrictions will be lifted.

And the cattle cars will be taking us all to a wondrous place where COVID has not yet been known to infect anyone! I can hardly wait!

Governor Northam (aka Coonman) has decreed that some counties in Virginia can loosen the manacles a little bit. My county, Prince William, is still under full restraint, however I border on an adjacent county, Fauquier, and was able to go to a very nice restaurant for breakfast with my husband yesterday. They were only allowed to serve customers in an outdoor patio area but it was charming and pleasant. Our server wore a mask and gloves and did her best to maintain social distancing. It was a large area and the only other diners were at a table quite a distance away. It was lovely. One of those things you don’t realize how much you enjoy until it is taken away from you.

Fauquier County is also allowing barber shops to open and as it is only about an hour’s drive from the densely populated (and very Democrat) Counties of Fairfax, Alexandria, etc. and indeed, not too far distant from DC, people have been jumping in their cars and rushing over to get a hair cut.

How our idiot Governor comes up with this stuff is hard to fathom. Might have something to do with the fact that he ran around with shoe polish on his face in college and is a pediatrician who thinks a “mother” and her “doctor” should be able to decide if a full term infant, born alive, will be executed or not. He feels the infant should be “kept comfortable” while his or her executioners decide on his or her fate.

How did it come to this?

Yes it is certainly true which side the M$media happens to be on.

I watched something on regular TV last night and the thing that struck me was how insidious the commercials are.

One commercial featured an older woman inside her condo facing a group of family members outside the large oversized window. She placed her palm on the window and the kids lined up to place theirs on hers. What good little Germans we all need to be right now.

Remember – according to our Big Brother friends in the media: if you avoid Granma she will stay healthy. After all, it is not like loneliness ever killed anyone. (As a retired  elder care worker, I can tell you loneliness means loss of appetite, failure to take needed meds, depression and more.)

Another commercial had the phrase as “we stay closer, at a distance,” interspersed with the other messages. How Orwellian is that one?

I am beyond grief and beyond anger. Sometimes I simply think I will wake up one morning to find my head has exploded on the pillow I was on.

No end of lockdown until we develop herd immunity. I’m sure they think this qualifies as science. Herd immunity doesn’t develop in a vaccuum, that is by staying locked down at home. It spreads as people’s immune systems are exposed and reject it, as what happens with most children, or they develop antibodies as a reaction. A second point is they are not looking too hard at testing for immunity, making excuses for level of accuracy and minimizing any indications of immunity granted. Instead of science, we get excuses and a lot of ‘we don’t know.’ All this is unmasking bias in our elected officials.
For those putting a lot of faith in a vaccine, that’s all it is, faith. There aren’t any guarantees with a vaccine either. This is all a lot of misdirection masquerading as care. If the vaccine fails, they would justify lockdown in perpetuity.

My spouse saw some notices on FB that the bars in Sacramento are in full swing. Crowded and no social distancing. Also no masks, I’m guessing. (How would you drink a beer with a mask on your face?) I don’t know if it every bar or just a few.

I am hoping this is a trend.
