Flyover
Sometimes you just have to sift through all the bad news and find something that might seem to be a small gesture. A fleeting moment of joy to be sure, but you take what you can get. I have been fortunate enough to have seen both the Blue Angels, and the Thunderbirds fly in airshows. On Friday, the Oregon Air National Guard conducted F-15 flyovers of hospitals in Vancouver, Washington, and the Portland Metro area. This video shows the combined flyover by the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds over the City of New York.

I thought they were going to fly between the buildings.
The kind of skill, coordination and pure guts it must take to do that kind of flying is mind-blowing! Thanks, Doug!
Man, I don’t like pilots. They insist on this sissy “crew rest” thing all the time, when you haven’t slept in a about a week and a half, and ain’t no snooze coming anytime soon. They have to have temper-controlled billets for crew rest to count as crew rest. No “suck it up” ethos whatsoever.
But this made me cry. Just a little.
I’ve made my share of fun of them in the past (maybe more than my share) but when they are good they are very, very good.
Locally we had C-17s doing flyovers.
The Air Force seems to be flying F-16’s. Is the Navy flying Hornets?
Yes, the Navy flies Hornets,
The flyover last weekend in Atlanta was great. Could see from my front yard
Yeah….. right.
I saw Them fly over Dallas the other day. Ain’t nothing like the federal government demonstrating Their ability to waste Our money in a show of strength to “thank” to Our hero cashiers while pilfering Our GOD given Rights.
I’ve seen the Thunderbirds a couple of times (before Pope left and at Seymour Johnson). Living in central NC has its perks. We had a C-17 flyover the hospital on Thursday.
In most of the places I’ve lived and worked, a “flyover” was more commonly known as “taking off” or “coming in for a landing.”
Murder Hornets? Certainly more lethal.
Scarily amazing.
I’m trying to work out how we are seeing the cockpit scenes – where’s the camera? It moves around, but I can’t see it in any of the reflections.
The Oregon Air Guard did their flyovers:
I liked their F-15 paint job to celebrate their 75th Anniversary on June 14, 2016:
I’ll be a party pooper.
Since we have a large Air Force base here, I suppose we could get a flyover if we wanted it.
But it does not affect my morale in any way.
It’s a waste of tax payer dollars at a time when less people are able to pay taxes.
I’ve watched a few Thunderbirds displays, and they are impressive. But maybe it’s time to reduce the military’s PR spending, and that includes the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds which are too extravagant.
It isn’t the job of our military to entertain us.
Just when I start to warm up to libertarians, they remind me how much I dislike their outlook.
