Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. AP: Justice Dept Dropping Flynn’s Criminal Case

This news, just breaking in the last few minutes, is one of the best pieces of news I have ever received in this long old life of mine!

Here is the article from the AP for your review; I looked for the “Filings” they refer to on the docket of the case, but did not see them; I will attempt to get them when they are available and link to them in a comment.

Glory! Hallelujah!

God Bless Gen. Flynn and his family and God Bless America, whose justice system has proven it still works, albeit way too slowly for this great American hero who served his country and its military for 33 years.

Jim, I’m getting “page not found.”

I’m thrilled, too, but what about the people who set him up? What will happen to them? Could they get nailed for other things they did, but just not for this case?

This sort of “oops” is how they avoid accountability. I’m surprised it wasn’t announced on Friday evening.

Susan, here is what I believe to be an accurate link to the AP story; hope this one works.

Here is a link to the complete set of pleadings filed by the Department of Justice.

    Yes! And then clean house.

i also hope that Flynn’s soon-to-be-filed civil suit against DOJ for malicious prosecution forces the weasels to turn on each other. Ideally, Barr does not settle early and lets discovery proceed.

His firing was not connected to the charges. He admitted to lying to VP Pence and was fired for that. The frame up of Flynn by corrupt officials afraid that Flynn would uncover the FBI’s bogus investigation of the president was a separate matter.

I am unsure of the details, but wasn’t his “lie to Pence” similar to the omission, entrapment lie to the FBI? In other words a nothing burger, but an honorable self-assessment that he omitted information when talking to Pence, giving cover to Trump to fire him?

I do not want the taxpayers of the United States to be on the hook for Flynn’s eventual victory, for what these people did under color of authority. They need to be PERSONALLY LIABLE, and the bulk of their personal financial assets need to be transferred from them to him. That’s by far the best way to deter any future similar actions by those with too much power and too much hatred animating them. If the taxpayers have to pay, they’ll just shrug and keep going with their book deals and TV appearances.

Wray has got to go, would love to see a straight shooter in that position to annihilate the culture there, perhaps Ms. Sidney Powell?

Hopefully General Flynn would get his old job back.

This is the best news in months. God Bless General Flynn, his family and the brave & persistent Ms. Powell!

It’s difficult to remember–so much has happened since–but it was President Trump who fired General Flynn, ostensibly for lying to VP Pence about some conversation with some Russian named Ambassador Kislyak. As the worm turns…

We may finally find out what that “lie” consisted of. What did the FBI tell Pence ?

And yet, think of the huge amounts of money he’s had to spend in defending himself that he will never recover. Think of the agony his family has gone through without any certainty of the outcome. From the beginning, this has been a shameful travesty of justice.

Well, at least this was no surprise:

The uber-sanctimonious Comey says the DOJ has “lost its way,” and pleads for career people to stay there, because “America needs you.”

And Nadler meanwhile seethes with rage, calling the DOJ’s dropping the case “outrageous” and pledging to have plenty of questions for AG Barr.

No doubt the disgraced McCabe will be on air blathering further, etc. etc.

    The battles go on.

The uber-sanctimonious Comey was recorded stating that he was the one that sent the FBI agents over. He probably ought to release another one stating what the basis for the investigation was, if he had one.

Now, do you really think Team Obama waited until the last month of its administration to exercise these levels of corruption? The last year? The last term? (This last one gives the appearance of a well oiled machine.) If you don’t realize that the pump was primed when they took office in 2009 and that these levers were pulled for eight years with the confidence that comes only with the reliably incurious (or flat out complicit) American media class solidly in ones pocket, then you don’t yet get it.

I still say that any enterprising young “journalist” of even mediocre intelligence could analyze the video of any ten Obama speeches and figure out the “tells” and then correlate each speech perfectly to major headlines two to four weeks later. Two easy ones would be around the John Roberts fluffing of Obamacare. Once calibrated, the game will be easy. (To whoever finally does this, you are welcome.)

Yes. Please correct me if I’m not correct, because I never understood the exact nature of the offense. But I thought that the “lie” was two things. First, it was the same “lie” to Pence that he had had to admit to the FBI as a concession to save his son. And second, using that “lie” was an acceptable excuse for Trump to let go a man forced into the untenable position through no fault of his own.
