Oklahoma Former Senator Tom Coburn Dies. Rest in Peace.
A giant in American Conservatism, Dr. Tom Coburn, passed away after losing his battle against cancer.
Dr. Coburn was elected in the 1994 Gingrich Revolution where the GOP took control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. He served three terms in the House, from 1995 to 2001, honoring his term limits pledge.
Dr. Coburn ran for the US Senate in 2004, making a two-term pledge. Sadly, he was able to serve only 10 of the 12 years, cutting his second term short by two years, due to his declining health.
While in the Senate, Dr. Coburn, sought to continue to delivery babies, with his practice limited only to earn enough money to pay office expenses, and malpractice insurance, but no additional money. The execrable Barbara Boxer opposed his quest. If memory serves, Boxer won, and women lost a loving doctor to help deliver their babies. Some of Boxer’s ire was due to Dr. Coburn firm Pro-Life position.
In 2015 Dr. Coburn was succeeded by the estimable Senator James Lankford.
Dr. Tom Coburn, Father, Representative, Senator, Pro-Life Champion, Rest In Peace.

RIP Dr. Coburn, truly one of the “good guys”. Thank you.
Senator Coburn preferred being called Dr. Coburn instead of Senator Coburn! Another reason for Senator Boxer to dislike him.
