Working Up a Playlist for Social Distancing and Self-Quarantine
Just to be helpful, and because there was white space in the monthly theme calendar, I give you my first cut at the Social Distancing and Self Quarantine Playlist.
Let’s start off nice and easy, with a tune from those quintessential boys of summer:
Hunkering down in our house? Here’s a bit of silliness from the early 1980s:
Whether home or rolling down the road, you’ll tap your toes:
Dedicated to the Americans trying to get home from Europe, hoping they all are properly screened and properly treated:
Home as a part of us:
Bon Jovi says “this house is not for sale:”
This is still the place we all call home:
From the early 1960s, and the composing team of Gerry Goffin and the incomparable Carole King, a social distancing song:
Now let’s kick up the performance level, with the divine voice of Dionne Warwick on a Burt Bacharach and Hal David number. Just walk on by:
Mr. George Thorogood and the Destroyers are the obvious clean-up hitters:

Seems obvious…
Yup!
As does this:
But, of course, we know how it’s going to end:
This post is proof that America’s warriors can become great disc jockeys, at least some of them, anyway.
(Could the reverse be true? Has anyone tried it? Wolfman Jack in charge at Fort Benning? Scott Muni mellowing out the US Army War College? Casey Kasem as a public affairs officer in Iraq? C’mon, people, this looks like “Federal grant magnet” is written all over it.)
On the boys of summer, my seven year old loves to sing along to the song “Sloop John B” but he will insist to the end that the title is “Sloop John Beef.”
I’m calling The Police:

Going more for the title and music than for the video.
How about Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”:
The simple pleasures of being home with the wife and kids…
Same again…
The obvious:
Alone again, naturally…
There’s a room in everyone, where a cold answer can be found.

Thanks @cliffordbrown and everyone for these great songs!
“One,” by Three Dog Night.
When it’s a quarter to 3 in the morning:
Watch the news and it’s more like this…
Some advice from The Kinks.
Wait till the summer comes along and the warm weather hopefully takes care of Mr Corona:
For those who are anxious:
Edit: Remembered the title wrong. Never mind.
Yup, or maybe Suicidal Tendencies “You Can’t Bring Me Down,” although that is strictly NSFW.
