News Flash: Obama Opposes Government Involvement in Health Care Decisions

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the President commented on Rep. Todd Akin’s infamous foot-in-mouth moment.

“So what I think these comments do underscore is why we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women.”

But what is Obamacare if not the quintessential example of “a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women”?   And, I might add, men and children as well.

President Obama is singing the Shania Twain song I Feel Like a Woman.

I don’t know why you expect anything resembling consistency from a president.

What Obama says always sounds like what America is thinking.  What he does is always something else.

What does he think the whole birth control issue was? Just a nice lady telling business what to do. Does make it OK then?

Pilli, your observation strikes me as exactly right.

“we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, . . . making health care decisions”

The key phrase is “a bunch of politicians.” Only The One should be able to make those decisions.

Vance Richards: “we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, . . . making health care decisions”

The key phrase is “a bunch of politicians.”

Actually, what he meant to say was “a bunch of Republican politicians.”

But as others have said, this way he gets to sound like what Americans think.  He gets to have it both ways.  When you have a compliant press, sounding reasonable while being completely inconsistent is child’s play.

I must respectfully disagree with both of you.

He didn’t mean politicians at all, who are answerable to the voters, who don’t know what’s good for them.

He meant unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats who don’t have to face the voters every 2, 4, or 6 years. The IPAB, in other words.

Fred, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that George’s question was rhetorical.  I’m hoping your post was sarcasm.

Ja, that was exactly my first thought when I heard this quote. “Oh, you mean IPAB?”
