Jeff Bezos Is a Fool
Mr. Bezos has decided to throw away 10 Billion Dollars. Yes, the world’s wealthiest man has “Committed 10 Billion Dollars to Fight Climate Change.” So, he is spending his own fortune, giving money to “scientists, activists, and non-profits” who are intent on saving the planet from climate change. Activists? Non-Profits?
Well, he’s welcome to spend his money any way he wishes. It’s too bad that not one of those ten billion dollars will have one iota of effect on the climate.
What a fool.
(No, I didn’t find a picture of the guy, simply because he’s been over-exposed, and I think he’s ugly.)

Thank you.
Er.. Thanks for what, Percival?
Not running his picture.
Rush,
You are completely right. What a waste of money. Bad technology, delivered by questionable people, to solve a problem that doesn’t exist. Just great!
At least Bill Gates still has a brain in his head.
Bill Gates warns the coronavirus could hit Africa worse than China, and that 10 million may die worldwide
Whether this particular virus turns out to be the big one doesn’t matter. Just pumping up the response will save lives now and will improve our chances of not being taken off guard in the future. Gates is on the job, Bezos is a jerk.
Regards,
Jim
I don’t think he’s a fool. He is buying something that has great value in the crowd he travels with–virtue. It is sad, because the efforts of the climates alarmists are harmful to the prosperity of poorest people in the world. 4 million Africans die each year, because they lack cheap electricity. If I had $100B, I would put my money into cheap nuclear power. He’d improve more lives than “free shipping” ever could.
Don,
Just make that pseudo-virtue. There might be something called virtue but it isn’t what the crowd that you are referring to has the slightest idea about.
Regards,
Jim
I suspect the money will go to good purposes. Climate change allows big businesses to bribe politicians will virtue signaling all the way.
Sad to see someone with otherwise good judgement (look at his businesses) make such a foolish move.
I expect he is setting up a charitable foundation, which ultimately can be used as a slush fund while getting him out of a bunch of taxes.
Nothing foolish about it if he is a committed leftist seeking dominance of our society and government.
Bezos does periodically shoot off fossil fuel-burning rockets here in non-fossil fuel adverse West Texas, as part of his Blue Origin space project. Bought a huge ranch to do it where a wind farm — the first ever built in Texas — was removed because, being on the edge of the Guadalupe Mountains, it was subject the state’s worst winter ice and spring high winds weather and kept breaking down.
I’ll be interested to see what he does with the ranch after Blue Origin starts doing orbital launches. Those are going to be done on the Gulf Coast, because — as much as Gaia might like Bezos raining rocket parts down on the oilfield region of the Permian Basin just to the east — he doesn’t want to donate the rest of his fortune to local landowners if the booster section of New Sheppard V lands on someone’s house.
I’ve been following the climate ‘debate’ for years and this is one of the best summaries of the situation I have seen.
Agreed. I suspect a not insubstantial portion of the money will go to lobbying.
It will also allow him to buy political influence by “hiring” the relatives and friends of the politically connected.
As the old saying goes, “A fool and his money are soon parted.”
Bezos gave money to the Green Cult for the same reason the Medicis paid to build churches and shrines–public image-building and an in with the highest moral authority in town, empowered to absolve other sins.
I prefer the more cynical version: “A fool and your money are soon partners.” (“Sayings from the notebooks of Lazarus Long”, in “Time Enough for Love” by Robert Heinlein)
It’s a pretty safe bet the $10 Billion to fight climate change will be invested in the Jeff Bezos Fight Climate Change Foundation which will be managed by the Bezos family and friends.
You can rest assured that much of the operating expenses will be spent on Bezos family and friends world travel and entertainment expenses as they span the globe to entertain and “educate” in the hopes of getting other wealthy dopes interested in saving the planet by giving their money to the Jeff Bezos Fight Climate Change Foundation.
Of course there will be occasional minimal mandatory disbursements from the Jeff Bezos Fight Climate Change Foundation to the favored insiders pretending to be fighting climate change, and then the elaborate parties to celebrate their greatness and laud the generosity of the Jeff Bezos Fight Climate Change Foundation …. and Jeff Bezos of course.
Not sure if this is cynical enough.🤔
Better Bezo’s money than mine.
