Obama probably should have been impeached, but instead his scandals were covered up. Trump gets impeached for saying a phone call was “Perfect.”
I remember not liking him much when he got the guilty Claus Von Bulow off–even though it led to a good movie where Jeremy Irons was a better Von Bulow than Von Bulow. But the guy is good and has courage. Taking on a colleague like Tribe is not an easy thing to do.

I was just watching him point out that this impeachment logic would only work while a president is in his first term, because he wouldn’t have a reelection interest in a second term. His only interest would be the best interest of the country. Exact same act, but one is impeachable and the other isn’t, just based on what term it’s in.

I think The Dersh promotes too low a standard for impeachable. It should be a high crime like treason or a crime that a super-majority of Congress cannot stop or undo.
He shifts between the framers, the Johnson impeachment, and modern day “woke” parlance without a beat, tying them all together in an extemporaneous speech. Pass the popcorn and give me more.
When I was in the police academy I had three prosecutors as instructors in my law classes. There were three law exams that we had to pass. Failure on any one of those exams meant dismissal from the academy.
Mr. Dershowitz reminds me of those instructors. Sometimes instructors are not worth the tuition cost of the course’s they teach. I would suggest that Mr. Dershowitz is well worth the cost, and the time spent in his classroom.

I’m sure the Dersh is not a Trump supporter, but he knows if this new “standard” is adopted, our Federal government will become dysfunctional for decades to come. Maybe that should be more dysfunctional . . .
Nothing the Left does passes the “shoe-on-the-other-foot test.” The Left is fundamentally hypocritical and tyrannical (illiberal). A smart man like Alan Dershowitz might want to rethink his ideological allegiance.

I can’t recall which of the Federalist Papers endorsed the Orange Man Bad standard. I am sure that legal scholar Jerry Nadler knows.
Dershowitz fails to make the key distinction here. It’s not whether an action or intention was unlawful in any way or whether the Founders contemplated impeachment for such an action or intention but whether the action or intention was done by Donald Trump.
An important new standard that shall be extended to all Republicans.
There is only one thought process and I think it’s structural to being a leftist: the only consideration is achieving the goal. The ends justify the means. You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette. Etc.
They care not for process, procedure, rules, law, per se. They only care for these things as an end to their immediate goals. If these things impede the immediate goals then they will be carelessly discarded.
Conservatives can do that too sometimes, but not structurally – not inherently. An inherent fundamental of conservatism is valuing process, procedure, rules, law, per se as the only workable solution to balance the competing interests and forces without common resort to violence.
I wouldnt be surprised if Dersh voted for Trump.
