If You Are Watching the Impeachment Trial, Watch on CSPAN2

I watched the trial today. I started on Fox but by about 8 p.m., I switched to CSPAN2. Fox was interrupting with handoffs between shows and other news. I am sure it was important to many viewers, but I was trying to listen carefully to the president’s defenders.

Starr was good, Dershowitz was great. Philbin did an outstanding job of previewing the clusterfark coming if the Senate decides to call Bolton/Mulvaney or anyone else subject to Executive Privilege. I hope Romney/Collins got the message. Don’t think they have, yet. But McConnell did because if they go down that road the Senate will be in session through the Convention this summer.

Bondi laid out the media breadcrumbs that kill any notion that Trump could have no good faith interest/obligation into looking into the Bidens. Cipollone did a nice job at the very end to remind the Senators that they would be voting whether to take Trump’s name off the 2020 ballot — what this is really about, given what Starr and Dershowitz had already illuminated as the naked partisanship of the impeachment ungrounded in any Constitutional rationale.

Shouldn’t there be a “not” in there?

“Or not” = excess words by one school, so maybe not.

C-SPAN.org and the C-SPAN YouTube channel are the go-to sources for pure political coverage, no spin, including crawls on any periphery.

    Excellent synopsis.

I can’t stand any of the media coverage and I’m definitely seeing a kind of production bias in the Fox shows I still watch.
Also …. is it just me or are the split screens horribly distracting? Seeing the host and/or guest sharing half the screw with nothing happening in the Capitol hallways?

Not surprising that this team is doing an excellent job of laying out the case.
Surely enough senators will want to get this charade over with to avoid anything that drags it out through the spring and summer but the Dems will still beat their drums about it right up till election day regardless. That’s the whole point.

What better response by a roiled electorate than to keep Trump on the state ballots and award him a second term over the indignant protestations of his enemies. Since the new Congress convenes in plenty of time to overthrow any conviction by their predecessors and pave the way for the first president successfully forced from office by Congressional action (Nixon resigned in face of the inevitable) to be seated for a second term against the howls and hoots of the newly minted Democratic minority.

It would almost be worth four more years of the graceless oaf.

It’s optional, just like the word “that” in many cases.

Just so. At one point in Starr’s presentation while he was making a strong case against the House Managers position the crawl on Fox was just running repetitions of the Democrat claims like a news alert. WTH? There is no Trump Network. There is one network that will allow someone to say something in defense of the president. The news division if not anti-Trump is Trump dismissive. And were that the attitude of all news outlets, that would be OK. It’s just that strong anti-Trump bias in the other MSM outlets make one quite sensitive when there in unfairness accepted in the sole network where the president is given an even chance.

The club members of Oligarchs R Us did not want Trump. Truth be told, they were also nervous about Hillary. So that is why a seated panel of morning talking heads on Fox cable stated some 5 or 6 days before the 2016 election that neither was a good choice, and it would be hard to know who to vote for.

Then Hillary’s people called at least one of those talking heads, and reveled that she was firmly committed to the Trans Pacific Plan, a trade agreement that would further trash the USA’s sovereignty. And then and only then did that  morning panel on Fox  enthusiastically endorse Trump.

Trump has been unwilling to give the whole store and economy away to the Globalists. I have no idea if he has plans to limit immigration, the in-sourcing of jobs that should be for Americans but go to people from India with computer skills down in Silicon Valley. Or to protect the jobs of those immigrants who arrived here some 25 years ago, and who are  now on the first rung of the American economy.

I find it compelling that in the last 45 days, three separate individuals have come up to me and begun to complain about how Calif state policies are now about letting newly arrived immigrants have free college, while they themselves are struggling to somehow pay tuition monies for their college bound teenagers.

The longer the impeachment drags on, the more people are turning away from the Democratic party. Even immigrants themselves!

Of course the elephant in the room  since it was proven in a San Diego court in Jan 2017  that the election machinery that counts the paper ballots we voters vote on,  is machinery that can be flipped from a winning candidate to the one the DNC has chosen, so perhaps the proceedings will drag on, as  Oligarchs, RINO’s  and the  Dems need a cover story for how the election of 2020 became a victory for the Dems.
