Quote of the Day: Fake Fear

I first saw this from Instapundit.

It really says it all, doesn’t it? The Second Amendment March in Virginia reminds me of the Tea Party, which the left blatantly lied about and demonized. At both events, you had people cleaning up after themselves, being incredibly diverse (all races and flavors of LGBT were represented), and generally engaging in peaceful protest. I (with an assist from Vectorman) wrote about how the Tea Party was trashed, and the second version was not as polite.

Let’s be honest, the 2nd Amendment is the antithesis of the Left. It’s about not being a victim. It is about taking responsibility for your own defense. I bring up how I want more law-abiding black men in Chicago carrying guns, and the lefties I talk to tend to give an error message and stop functioning. Of course, they need to trash the Virginia March. If that kind of organization spreads, they are toast.

I love the quotation. I also love this one: “I want more law-abiding black men in Chicago carrying guns.”

The left wasn’t alone in its demonization of the TEA party.  Mitch McConnell was right there with it.

The GOPe treated them in a similar manner to the way they treat Trump.

Some have described it as the TEA party was voters asking nicely, then they were treated with disdain so Trump is them asking not as nicely.

Yes, the Left is afraid of us and I hope they keep being very, very afraid. Our protests against their attacks on our liberty are not taken lightly. And we will fight for those liberties.

Armed blacks in the segregated south were able to defend themselves and their neighborhoods from the Klan and other racist groups (see Condi Rice’s biography).  As a result, gun control laws were set up primarily to keep blacks unarmed.  The same thing with inexpensive handguns (dubbed “Saturday Night Specials”).  Banning SNSpecials kept poor blacks from being able to afford basic protection.

When a liberal tells me I should be in favor of giving up my guns, I usually say something like, “I’ll do so if you make the bad guys give up their guns first.”

I worked on the South Side with a bunch of black veterans.   I would have felt  safer if they were carrying guns.  Eric was actually a concealed carry instructor.  As he said, the police weren’t going to save you, so you have to look out for yourselves.

I’ve heard that the police response time to the South Side can be pretty long. A few years back, the ACLU reported the disparity, saying that black neighborhoods waited an average of 11 minutes for officers to be dispatched, while a predominantly white neighborhood had an average wait time of less than 2.5 minutes. That was a few years ago.  Since Ferguson, I’ve heard there are areas where the police don’t want to go at all for fear of becoming the next Michael Brown situation and having their careers ruined.

Trump supporters know there is a portion of what was the Republican Party before Donald Trump was elected who have yet to join those who do support him. I doubt there are many non-Trump supporters who care if the right to be armed is lost. On the other hand, how many traditional Democrats do care? How many traditional Democrats support the right to life? I don’t think anywhere near all, maybe not even a majority, of traditional Democrat voters are what we refer to as Leftist Progressives. We want these Democrats to support Donald Trump for President and to vote for Republican candidates for Congress.

There was a time not that long ago in America were cops often left gay bars alone. Bad people, some gay some straight tend to go to where the cops aren’t. Gays, needed to protect themselves when the cops would not. The story of the need of Black-Americans to protect themselves during Jim Crow is even more dire. I would be more surprised if the Second Amendment Marches were lily white and purely heterosexual.
