What Does This Say About the Government of Illinois?

The state just legalized recreational marijuana use, and the demand has been so high that the pot shops are running out of supply. And the state’s Lieutenant Governor, Juliana Stratton, at the head of the line to buy.

So, residents of Illinois, with all its other problems (basically bankrupt), now you have to worry about State Government officials getting high. Be careful out there!

Funny how we are legalizing marijuana at the same time outlawing tobacco and vaping.  Odd old world.

Some stories said Stratton cut in line to buy.  Anyway, Illinois is broke and has turned to selling drugs to make a buck.

So pot smokers will simply go back to their original suppliers, without all those pesky state taxes involved. Why was this ever a surprise?

Purchase also sounds like a PR stunt, judging by the product purchased and the tweet send afterward:

“For too long, IL residents, particularly those that are black & brown, have been targeted and criminalized for #cannabis possession,” Stratton wrote in a tweet following her visit. “It’s not just a new year, it’s a new day. Thank you, @GovPritzker, for ending prohibition and building a more equitable Illinois.”Stratton bought a 100-milligram tin of Mindy’s Edibles Glazed Clementine Orange Gummies, according to a statement from Joe Caltabiano, Cresco Labs president and co-founder. Each gummy is 5 milligrams, a “very popular microdose for beginning edible consumers,” he said.

People are against state lotteries, because lower-earning citizens buy lottery tickets instead of healthy food.  What about the ones who buy marijuana instead of healthy food?

You don’t think they are already on drugs?  The elite class has always had access to the best drugs.  It is only when they get the same drugs the rest of the population gets that they die.

If this is true, then we should legalize drugs everywhere!

Are you saying that Cheetos are not healthy?

Pot smokers always leave orange fingerprints.

Ambivalent feelings about this. Sad that tax revenues will increase but pleased that personal freedom has expanded in some small way. Unfortunately, every time they grant one freedom, they capriciously make another verboten.

This is a temporary freedom that will lead the populace using this freedom to seek more enslavement from the government.

Yeah, as they drive across the state line to Indiana to buy cigarettes.

I’m disgusted with this legalizing pot trend.  It will come to no good and there will be no way to put the genie back in the bottle.

I’d like to see the feds arrest her, prosecute her for marijuana possession, and throw her in jail for a year.

I had to look it up, but it appears that possession of any amount of marijuana is a federal misdemeanor, punishable up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

That genie left the bottle in the ’70s and had been residing in a glass bong ever since.

This idiot woman just stated that people of color in particular, are more likely to be busted for drugs such as pot – not very nice, and the idiot laws that go with this idiot idea of legalization will most certainly be enforced right?  I can see it now – people getting out of line when they remember they’ve hit their “quota” of so many grams that week….and little tins of yummy, fruit flavored gummies with dope? No issues there for enticing kids……just like no issues with watermelon flavored vape products…..

And I love the “dose for beginning consumers.”  Like it’s some kind of grooming and training process for the Future Dopers of America or something.
