Is Admiral Mike Rogers the Hero of this Story?

There is an official Department of Justice criminal investigation underway being conducted by US Attorney John Durham. Durham is looking into a number of events leading up to the Mueller Special Counsel Investigation that impaired the ability of the Trump Administration to function at an expected level for much of its first three years. A major function touching on all pieces of the controversial topic of Russian interference in America’s 2016 election is intelligence work and its products.

All manner of government organizations are involved in or affected directly by intelligence activities. The NSA, CIA, and FBI are major producers and custodians of intelligence information and related analyses. The POTUS receives daily briefings of what is called “intelligence assessments” as a result of this intelligence work. The Senate and the House have standing committees that get quarterly briefings of sensitive intelligence developments and those committees initiate legislation that governs how this work is done.

Devin Nunes, when he chaired the House Intelligence Committee, investigated and surfaced a number of actions undertaken by the Obama Administration that were revealed as possible misuse of intelligence functions and information. Nunes was hampered in his investigation by lack of cooperation from the executive agencies. A senior staff official of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, chaired by Richard Burr, was charged with leaking classified intelligence to a newspaper reporter, but got a plea deal that avoided any public disclosure of case facts. There are several other questions related to actions of members and staff of this committee.

In the fall of 2016 just prior to the election, NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers became aware of suspicious NSA database inquiries that he judged to be out of order and demanded they be stopped. Rogers also visited President-Elect Trump after the election. Here is an excerpt from a New York Times article published in the Fall of 2016:

Administration officials had planned to relieve Admiral Rogers of his duties after the election and announce a plan to create separate chains of command for the N.S.A. and Cyber Command. But the plan, supported by Mr. Carter and Mr. Clapper, stalled in part because of opposition from Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, who heads the Armed Services Committee.

Under the plan, Cyber Command would remain under the Armed Services Committee’s jurisdiction, but oversight of the N.S.A. would shift to the Senate Intelligence Committee. Mr. Trump’s victory complicated the planning.

I guess the fact that Clinton was not elected was what really complicated the planning.

I wonder where we would be now in terms of the intelligence function if Trump was not President and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence was the oversight body for the National Security Agency.

It is being reported now that retired Admiral Mike Rogers has met several times with Durham Investigation officials.

Adm. Rogers is clearly a patriot.  Nunes is a patriot.  All the other intelligence community personnel are too quiet. I would gladly give up my government job to speak out against the anti-Constitutional behavior.

I heard today that Durham was looking into origins of the Intelligence Assessment that includes the conclusion that Russia hacked the DNC server.  That is good.  That conclusion was based on the say-so of 2 Ukrainian nationalists (Alexandra Chalupa of the DNC and Dmitri Alperovitch of CrowdStrike) that blamed Russia to help the DNC and get the US deeper involved in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.  FYI, Adm. Rogers was the only one to dissent from the seventeen agency consensus.

Having the corporate media being so partisan is that it allowed the deep state folks to be sloppy.

There were not 17 agencies involved in the January 2017 intelligence assessment.  There were three – FBI, CIA, and NSA.  FBI and CIA said they were highly confident in the conclusions, NSA said it was moderately confident.

In this case, McCain was opposed to the plan to essentially reduce oversight of the NSA.

He probably just couldn’t  stand to lose any scrap of authority he had accumulated, but his resistance kept Admiral Rogers in charge long enough to uncover this mess.

Unless I’m misreading, McCain’s roadblocking actually helped uncover this whole spying on the Trump campaign thing.

I suspect he’s spinning in his grave over that.

Apparently David French and the rest of the Mean Girl Republicans would be fine with an HRC Administration and a lawless DOJ/FBI/IC abusing the Constitutional rights and freedoms United States citizens.

If HRC had been elected, would anyone even know about the “lawless DOJ/FBI/IC abuse of the Constitutional rights and freedoms of United States citizens” ??

Maybe. Things came out about Hillary’s server and the real cause of Bengazi, etc.

It is hard for me to imagine what would be going on in our federal government if Clinton was elected instead of Trump. I voted for Trump first for court appointments and I wasn’t certain about second, either immigration control or China issues related to trade and national defense. Personal behavior and character issues didn’t rise to the top of my list. But what about all this other stuff we have learned about the behavior and character of high officials, political and career bureaucratic, who were operating in the Obama Administration. And my guess is we have just skimmed the surface so far. I think we will learn much more as the Durham Investigation continues.

True, but action was pretty much stifled by the Obama Administration and the established bureaucracy, probably with a strong Democrat lean, if not bias. There are things some of us might know but that’s a long way from being able to do anything about it. We have some possibles with Barr, Durham, and some newly appointed judges.

These sleazebags were obviously not only relying on never getting caught under an HRC admin, they could expect promotions and positions of political clout for aiding the Queen of Sleaze in seizing the throne.

True, but the question was “would anyone even know?” It would have been suppressed just as many other investigations were.

That’s what makes it so hard to understand those who won’t acknowledge Trump’s value as POTUS.

“On the morning of Nov. 17, 2016, Rogers traveled to meet President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team at Trump Tower, but didn’t inform DNI Clapper about the meeting. That evening, the Trump team announced they were moving all transition activity to Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey.”

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/nsa-director-rogers-disclosed-fisa-abuse-days-after-carter-page-fisa-was-issued_2692033.html

As I remember, I think this is when Trump started claiming that Obama tapped his wires and decided to move things to New Jersey.

“On April 25, 2019, Trump said that his original allegation of ‘wires tapped’ was not literal, and that he really meant: ‘surveillance, spying you can sort of say whatever you want’. Trump also said that his allegations were made ‘just on a little bit of a hunch and a little bit of wisdom maybe’, and that he thought his allegations were ‘pretty insignificant’ when he made them.  In a July 2019 interview with C-SPAN, when asked whether he regretted any of his tweets, Trump said ‘Not much, honestly not much…I sent the one about the wiretapping…and that turned out to be true.'”

I hope we find out the truth one day — before the next election.

The Left has a mission to destroy When they can’t do that on the rare occasion that they do not control the White House or Congress — the media, the Deep State, special counsels, and random federal judges in place like Hawaii become the Opposition Party and do everything they can to delay, delay, delay, delay, delay, until the next election when they have damaged the Republican and conservative parties and their allies through panic, if not facts.

The IG report indicates in January 2017 the FBI essentially adduced the allegations in the Steele dossier were nonsense.

But the Obama holdover DOJ/FBI/IC forged ahead with FISA renewals and the formation of the Weissmann/Lawfare Special Counsel investigation.

Why did this happen? ….. “to delay, delay, delay, delay, delay, until the next election”

Under a cloud of DOJ/FBI/IC faux investigations and leaks, (D) Schiffy lies about the contents of top secret information, and MSM complicity in always buying(if not crafting) the spoon fed narrative and never pushing back at some pretty outlandish assertions, the public was under the impression Trump was up to his eyeballs in Russian collusion or something nefarious and the (D) ‘s took the mid terms in a cake walk  which has allowed the (D) to arrive at their ultimate destination:

    The current (D) Impeachment contrivance.

Precisely.  And that’s why the problem is not the 2016 election, it was the 2018 election unduly influenced by Russia collusion being a continuing story when there was nothing to it.  It’s why Nancy Pelosi is not a legitimate Speaker of the House.

It would seem that the only defense that a journalist has against being lied to by a source “insisting on anonymity” would be to burn them if and when their lies become manifest.

“But no one will ever leak to me again!”

Nobody will ever leak lies to you again.
